“Since I was not present while caregiver was there and live in Washington state, I can only comment on what I learned from a distance. Always Best Care staff, Holly as care manager, was always prompt with reports, caring in her reporting. The staff said Chloe had Mike out involved in activities which contributed to his improved cognitive. Too bad he fell but sadly nothing to be done about Mike's falls. They sometimes just happen no matter how many aids there are in place. I appreciated the ability of Always Best Care to provide a caregiver in 24'. Thank you.”

What is Non-Medical Senior Care in Adams, CO?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. So, if you've always wanted to eat at the local Grazie or visit John Adams and John Quincy Adams Birthplaces Adams National Historical Park, don't feel bad. Doing so is great for both you and your loved one.

At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Adams, CO, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

 Elderly Care Adams, CO

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your CO's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.
 Senior Care Adams, CO

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Adams, CO understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

 Respite Care Adams, CO

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Caregivers who work at assisted living communities can also provide medication administration and personal care services for older adults.

Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation
  • Personal Care
 Caregivers Adams, CO

At Always Best Care, our representatives can match your senior's emotional, physical, and financial needs with viable assisted living communities nearby. Results are based on comparative data, so you can select the best choice for you or your loved one.

Always Best Care works closely with local senior living communities to gain valuable knowledge that we then use to help seniors and their loved ones make informed decisions. This information can include basic care and rent, resident availability, and services provided. Because Always Best Care is compensated by these communities, we provide senior living referral services at no extra cost to you.

Some of the most popular assisted living communities to consider in our area include the following:

  • Kavod Senior Life
  • Bethesda Gardens Thornton Assisted Living and Memory Care
  • All About Seniors
  • Maintain Me, Senior Services
  • Keystone Place at Legacy Ridge
  • Bonaventure of Thornton
Home Care Adams, CO

For many seniors, moving into a senior living community revolves around how and when they want to make a transition to more involved care. HASTINGS — Adams County Emergency Management shared an updated on the flooding throughout the region on Thursday, Oct. 1

The rain came into our area as expected overnight. Thankfully, for the most part, it was a nice, steady rainfall. The southern portion of Adams County received the greatest rainfall totals, with some areas receiving three plus inches. At this time, our rivers, creeks, streams and dams are holding as they should, with no reports of overflow or breaches.

Crystal Lake – Ayr Area

Our primary area of concern has been around Crystal Lake near Ayr and the Little Blue River.

The Crystal Lake campground is currently closed. The Little Blue River at the bridge near Crystal Lake is full, with a significant amount of debris in the water. The river is beginning to recede, although additional upstream flow is still possible.

Farther downstream at the Marian Road bridge, the river is currently at approximately 50% of the bridge’s capacity, which is encouraging for that area and for homes located along the Little Blue.

Roads

As of 10:30 a.m., we have received no reports of structural damage or closed roads.

County roads are wet and soft, particularly along the shoulders. Please use extra caution when meeting another vehicle on a gravel road. Moving too far onto a saturated shoulder could cause your vehicle to lose traction or leave the roadway.

Please use additional caution when traveling after dark, when standing water and damaged or softened road surfaces can be difficult to see.

Flood Warning

Even though conditions are looking good overall, please continue to use caution around rivers, creeks, low-water crossings and flooded areas. Never drive around a barricade or through water covering a roadway.

We will continue monitoring conditions throughout Adams County. If additional information becomes available, I will pass it along. Thank you, and please stay safe.

NATCHEZ — Enrollment at Copiah-Lincoln Community College has climbed above 3,000 students, the college’s highest enrollment since 2019, President Dr. Dewayne Middleton told the Adams County Board of Supervisors Monday.

Middleton, who is in his fourth year as Co-Lin president, was accompanied by Melton King of Natchez, who has served on the Co-Lin board of trustees for 35 years.

Middleton said the college is also stepping up efforts to recruit students from Adams County schools.

“We have over 3,000 students at the college,” Middleton said. “That’s more students than we had since 2019. So we’re excited about the direction of that and trying to move forward.”

But Middleton said the college has room to grow its enrollment among Natchez high school graduates.

Last year, 253 students graduated from Natchez High and other schools in the area. However, only 32 of those students enrolled at Co-Lin, he said.

“I’ve been looking at our numbers, and I just wanted to touch base and let you all know what’s been going on with the schools that are located in Adams County,” Middleton said.

He said the college has charged its recruiters with becoming more visible in Natchez schools in an effort to increase that number at Co-Lin.

“We’ll be highly visible as we move forward in the high schools in our area to try to get people acclimating to Co-Lin and the great things that we have going on,” he said.

Middleton said Co-Lin offers academic, career and technical education and workforce opportunities and is working with area businesses and industries to identify training needs.

“We’ve been meeting with business industry in the area to meet their needs and to find out some of the training needs that they have, so we can accommodate them,” he said. “So that’s a big push.”

Housing remains an issue as the college’s enrollment grows.

Middleton said Co-Lin is renovating Ellis Hall, with completion expected in January 2027. The project will add 64 beds to campus housing.

“Just this year, this August, we had 173 students on our waiting list for dorms,” he said. “One hundred sixteen of those were males and 57 were females.”

The college also is working on a hazardous-mitigation grant for construction of a community safe room in Wesson, the school's main campus, that would also serve as the college’s gymnasium while providing a place for emergency operations in the county.

“That community safe room would serve as our gymnasium,” he said. “It would house our men’s and women’s basketball program and also house our volleyball program — it’s a new program that we started this year.”

The college has expanded its workforce programs, including welding. Middleton said a career and technical education program in welding has been expanded to include a night program.

The day and night programs each have about 19 or 20 students, he said.

“We’re excited about that opportunity to be able to help and move the training needs in this area forward,” Middleton said.

Co-Lin also is opening a new artificial intelligence lab on its Natchez campus. Middleton said the lab was made possible through Accelerate Mississippi and is intended to give students foundational AI knowledge and practical skills.

Middleton thanked the supervisors for their continued support of the college.

“I do want us to be a strong partner in this district,” he said. “It takes a lot of work, and I understand that. I have a great team. We’re pushing things through.”

He said the college wants to see more students prepared for jobs needed by area businesses and industries.

“We want business and industry in this area,” Middleton said. “Southwest Mississippi has been slighted. That’s how I feel, but I do want us to move toward bigger and better things. And we got to get our students more involved and get them acclimated to the right jobs to accommodate business industry in that area.”

The approved funding will support the environmental review, corridor validation, and preliminary design work needed to move the remaining 5.5-mile segment of the N Line toward construction. Completing these critical pre-construction activities will position the project to compete for future state and federal construction funding.

“Last night’s vote marks a significant milestone for the North Metro communities that have waited years to see the N Line completed,” said Adams County Board of Commissioners Chair Julie Duran Mullica. “This investment honors the commitment made to voters more than two decades ago and demonstrates what is possible when local governments, regional partners, and community advocates work together toward a shared goal.”

The N Line is already one of RTD’s strongest-performing commuter rail corridors, serving approximately 3,600 average weekday riders despite operating without its final extension. The completed corridor will extend commuter rail service farther north, improving regional connectivity for Adams County residents while supporting continued residential and commercial growth throughout the North Metro area.

As one of Colorado’s fastest-growing counties, Adams County continues to prioritize and advocate for transportation investments that improve mobility, reduce congestion, and support economic vitality. Completion of the N Line is expected to provide additional transportation options for residents, strengthen connections between communities, and help meet the growing demand created by continued population and employment growth across the county. Further, the county is a steadfast advocate for creating a network of transportation options that serves all people by improving access and, where possible, ensuring transportation is not a barrier to opportunity.

Adams County has long partnered with RTD, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), local municipalities, and regional stakeholders to advance the project. With project development now funded, those partners can continue the work necessary to prepare the corridor for future construction funding opportunities.

The total cost to complete final design and all pre-construction activities is currently estimated at approximately $55 million. The RTD Board’s approval of the initial $12 million allows regional partners to begin the work necessary to modernize the project and position it for the next phases of engineering, final design, and future construction funding opportunities for the final two stations.

“When completed, the N-Line will connect CO-7 to Denver, giving not only our residents, but people across Colorado more access to our growing region,” said Janet Lundquist, Director of Public Works at Adams County. “Importantly, this funding from RTD will allow us to bring work that was initially designed and approved decades ago up to the levels of safety, engineering, design, and more to fit in with the needs of 2026. This first $12 million is so important because we need to reevaluate things done in the past and approach this extension appropriately.”

To help maintain momentum, Adams County is working alongside the cities of Thornton, Westminster, Commerce City, as well as the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), to build a regional coalition that will advocate for completion of the N Line.

“While this is an important step forward, it is not the finish line,” Mullica said. “There is still significant work ahead to secure the funding needed to complete the final extension, but our commitment has never wavered. Adams County will continue advocating alongside our partners until the final stations are built and the promise of the N Line is fulfilled. Our residents have waited long enough, and they deserve nothing less.”

Safe, reliable, and accessible transportation for all Adams County residents is a critical issue in our community and a key priority of the Adams County Board of Commissioners (BoCC). That’s why the BoCC is pleased to announce its appointment of Joyce Downing to RTD District J Director, filling a vacancy left by Vince Buzek. The BoCC voted on the appointment during its Public Hearing on July 21, and she will be sworn in on July 28.

The Regional Transportation District (RTD) Board of Directors is responsible for advancing public transit policies, priorities, and goals across the entire Denver Metro region, and District J, specifically, is responsible for the cities of Westminster, Northglenn, Federal Heights, parts of Thornton, and parts of unincorporated Adams and Jefferson Counties.

“Joyce has been a steadfast advocate for North Metro transit and has worked for decades to improve transportation options for our communities,” said Commissioner Julie Duran Mullica, Chair of the BoCC. “As a board, we are excited to see Joyce step into this role, and we are committed to continuing our strong partnership with RTD as we advance the transportation priorities that are so important to Adams County and the North Metro region.”

Downing previously served as both the Mayor and a City Council member for Northglenn, as well as serving on many regional and national committees. Her public service in the city spanned three decades, and she continues to be a committed champion for the needs of her community and neighbors.

“Joyce’s experience will allow her to provide a crucial voice at the table for our county’s residents when it comes to public transportation decisions,” Mullica said. “The BoCC also wants to thank Vince Buzek for his committed service and representation of the region during his time on the RTD Board of Directors, as—much like the public transit system—it takes a network of people working together to make sure our community’s needs are fully met.”

Downing’s appointment will last through 2026 until a new board member can be elected in the November general election. RTD board members are chosen by the voters, but if a director resigns before their term ends, the vacancy is filled by the county commissioners from the county where the director was elected. Because the majority of this district is in Adams County, the BoCC was responsible for appointing Buzek’s replacement.

This responsibility to choose a director is one the BoCC takes seriously, as elected officials themselves, as residents of this county, and as unwavering advocates for a transportation system in the region that serves all people. Adams County spans more than 1,100 square miles and is often hailed as a nexus for transportation in the state, with interstates, major roadways, rail lines, airports, and more all intersecting within our communities. Ensuring the public transit system is a key, interconnected part of that is a critical priority for the BoCC and the county.

Buzek served in his role for eight years, and retired effective July 17. Learn more about the RTD Board of Directors and more about Adams County’s transportation priorities.

Adams County awarded local artist David Ocelotl Garcia a $350,000 contract to design, fabricate, and install a sculpture series on Pecos Street in southwest Adams County with integrated community engagement.

This project is connected to the county’s recent Public Works infrastructure improvements, including the Pecos Street Widening Project completed in 2025. This major infrastructure project was a complete reconstruction and widening of Pecos from West 52nd Avenue to West 56th Avenue.

The open call for artists had over 150 applications and was juried by a unique artist selection panel made up of local community members, project stakeholders, and members of the Adams County Arts & Culture Commission, appointed by the board of county commissioners.

“Adams County is so excited to welcome David Ocelotl Garcia as the artist for this project,” said Kathy Henson, Vice Chair of the Adams County Board of Commissioners. “This is a great example of the county’s continued commitment to investing in our communities through roadway infrastructure and public art projects.”

The project concept will be inspired by the urban-industrial area that has a blend of a neighborhood with new and generational community members and industrial buildings and commerce, including the site of the Pecos Logistics Park. The heavy commuter line sees nearly a million people annually going between north Denver and southwest Adams County.

“I am honored to accept the award for the Pecos Median Sculpture Series in Adams County,” said David Ocelotl Garcia. “My art practice of Abstract Imaginism is rooted in energy and the exploration and expression of cultural identity. I’m especially excited to connect with the surrounding communities to share the energy of art and uncover stories of history, culture, and passion.”
