TESTIMONIALS

“Since I was not present while caregiver was there and live in Washington state, I can only comment on what I learned from a distance. Always Best Care staff, Holly as care manager, was always prompt with reports, caring in her reporting. The staff said Chloe had Mike out involved in activities which contributed to his improved cognitive. Too bad he fell but sadly nothing to be done about Mike's falls. They sometimes just happen no matter how many aids there are in place. I appreciated the ability of Always Best Care to provide a caregiver in 24'. Thank you.”

“I am a past client of this provider Always Best Care (ABC) in Longmont provided outstanding, emphatic service in helping move a family member into a new residence, making possible a higher level of care for her than previously available. In addition to supporting her prior to and through this highly stressful process, ABC, and particularly Madison and Michelle, provided extremely useful advice to us, including recommendations for movers and for a pet fostering service that will care for some of her pets until their new homes can be identified. Throughout the process ABC gave us abundant time and attention. Their recommendations and support were spot-on. We highly recommend them.”

What is Non-Medical Senior Care in Boulder, CO?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. So, if you've always wanted to eat at the local Flagstaff House or visit Mork Mindy House, don't feel bad. Doing so is great for both you and your loved one.

At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

If you have been on the fence about non-medical home care, there has never been a better time than now to give your senior the care, assistance, and companionship they deserve.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Boulder, CO, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

 Elderly Care Boulder, CO

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your CO's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.
 Senior Care Boulder, CO

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Boulder, CO understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

 Respite Care Boulder, CO

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Caregivers who work at assisted living communities can also provide medication administration and personal care services for older adults.

Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation
  • Personal Care
 Caregivers Boulder, CO

At Always Best Care, our representatives can match your senior's emotional, physical, and financial needs with viable assisted living communities nearby. Results are based on comparative data, so you can select the best choice for you or your loved one.

Always Best Care works closely with local senior living communities to gain valuable knowledge that we then use to help seniors and their loved ones make informed decisions. This information can include basic care and rent, resident availability, and services provided. Because Always Best Care is compensated by these communities, we provide senior living referral services at no extra cost to you.

Some of the most popular assisted living communities to consider in our area include the following:

  • The Pearl at Boulder Creek
  • Sunrise of Boulder
  • Frasier Retirement Community
  • Sunrise at FlatIrons
  • MorningStar Assisted Living Memory Care of Boulder
  • Brookdale Boulder Creek

For many seniors, moving into a senior living community revolves around how and when they want to make a transition to more involved care. "It's probably a record since I've been here. It don't make sense, especially when I think we've been rated in the top-25 or whatever in penalties this season. We've been doing good. Today was just horrible penalty-wise. No discipline."

"I don't know his thought process or his parents. I have no idea. I just control what we would control. I'm proud the kid got an opportunity. Sometimes you're forced to do some things that probably should be done anyway. I'm glad he got an opportunity. He got his feet wet a little bit. He got to see blitzes, just real play, and what he needed to work on. And he will. He's a worker. He's going to try his best to get it done. But I'm glad we got to that conclusion.

"You gotta understand, I'm for the kids. If that's what they want, that's what they get. I'm not going to mandate you gotta play. Whatever's best for these young men's careers, I'm for that."

On Shedeur Sanders Surprising Him

"These shenanigans put a damper on it. I haven't seen my son in a long time. Forget the game. Forget this. Forget that. I haven't seen my son in a long time. So that was quite emotional for me, him surprising me today in the office. That walk isn't about nothing but him. I'm praying for him doing the whole walk, making sure he's focused and locked in. He came and got treatment, worked out, but that's beside the point. I'm just happy to see my kids whenever I get the opportunity. I'm still a dad."

On Criticism

"I don't give a darn about criticism. I'm telling you, it's on me. Criticize me. I've been criticized when I came out the womb. The doctor didn't even like it. I'm good, so it's on me. I know what the situation is. I know what the problem is."

Focus on Players

"The main thing is mental health, making sure our guys, mentally and spiritually, are right. We have a wonderful representation for those two avenues. These are some strong kids."

All Losses Equal

"Disappointment is disappointment. I don't give a darn what we lose by. A loss is a loss. I don't measure, a loss ain't weighed on a scale. Man, A loss is a loss to me. We got our butts kicked last week."

Protecting Julian Lewis

"I'm more protective as a father spirit, as an athlete spirit, as a guy who knows this game. I got to protect him. I can't throw him out there and he's not fully ready, and now you jump all over him, and now we in a mental health situation. I don't want that for none of these young men, so we try our best to prepare them and get them ready for the ups and downs of life.

"It's easy to clap when it's going well, but when all hell breaks loose, ain't nobody there but the criticism and the negativity on social. I'm trying to do a great job of being a good steward of my relationship with these young men and helping them progress the right way."

Confidence In Self

"I don't doubt me. Let's get that straight. I don't doubt me, so next question. The confidence level of me doing this job? I'm built for this. I don't doubt me."

At 4-3, Arizona has already matched its win total from last season under the leadership of second-year coach Brent Brennan. The Wildcats' defense has taken a great step forward, and Fifita is enjoying a bounce-back year with 1,829 passing yards, 17 touchdowns and four interceptions.

"Coach Prime" spoke about Arizona's starting quarterback during his weekly press conference on Tuesday.

"A good young man," Sanders said of Fifita. "I remember after the first year (2023), he was rated really high, and he should have been. I think he had a down year last year because of the change of coaching and the change of the offense. But this kid, to me, he's a pro. He can play. He can spin it, throw it. If you give him time, he's going to make things happen."

Other Wildcats to know include running back Ismail Mahdi (445 rushing yards), wide receiver Javin Whatley (370 receiving yards) and defensive back Genesis Smith (42 tackles, seven passes defended).

Arizona's wins this season have come against Hawaii, Weber State, Kansas State and Oklahoma State. Iowa State, BYU and Houston have all beaten the Wildcats.

Colorado lost to Arizona at home in 2023 before defeating the Wildcats in Tucson last year, 34-7. All-time, the Buffs are 17-10 against their former Pac-12 Conference rival.

BOULDER, Colorado — A lot can change in a year.

Last season, Colorado spoiled Arizona's homecoming with a 27-point beatdown in Tucson. A year later, the Wildcats returned the favor with a 52-17 thumping at Folsom Field for the largest margin of victory in Big 12 play.

Arizona's triumph puts the Wildcats at five wins, besting the win total from last season. Arizona also matched last season's win total in Big 12 play. The Wildcats are one win away from becoming bowl eligible under second-year head coach Brent Brennan.

The Wildcats snapped their five-game losing skid on the road dating back to last season. Arizona has won two straight contests against CU in Boulder.

Colorado (3-6) has lost four of its last five games and is one loss away from failing to make the postseason for the second time under third-year head coach Deion Sanders.

Before Saturday, Arizona hadn't scored more than 30 points on the road under Brennan. Saturday marked the most points scored by Arizona in a Big 12 game. The last time Arizona scored over 30 points in a non-bowl road game was the 2023 Territorial Cup.

"There's a lot of good stuff in that game," Brennan said in the postgame press conference. "I thought the physicality that we played with was outstanding. ... I'm really excited about the forward progression of our football team. When we went into the bye week, we knew we had to return to fundamentals. We lost two gut-wrenching games and our players responded. We believe we have a good football team and I think that showed up tonight. I'm incredibly proud of our progress. I know we still have work to do, but I'm excited about this win."

Turning point

Arizona jumped out to a 10-lead in the first quarter, which was kickstarted by wide receiver Tre Spivey's 57-yard touchdown. Spivey caught a bubble screen and had wide receivers Javin Whatley and Kris Hutson as perimeter blockers and then broke five tackles for a touchdown.

Spivey has seven touchdowns on 12 offensive touches this season. Arizona kicker Michael Salgado-Medina kicked a 49-yard field goal in the first quarter. Salgado-Medina made five straight field goals dating back to the Oklahoma State game, before he missed a 30-yarder in the third quarter.

The Wildcats caught momentum after Arizona linebacker Chase Kennedy sacked Colorado quarterback Kaidon Salter for a strip-sack that was recovered by defensive tackle Leroy Palu, who started over Tiaoalii Savea.

Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita threw an over-the-shoulder 12-yard touchdown to Hutson to take a 17-0 lead.

"Any takeaway in a football game is a momentum-changer," Brennan said.

Brennan said Fifita's touchdown pass to Hutson "was an absolute dime and Kris made a great play. Just really exciting to get that momentum and capitalize on it."

Colorado answered with a 17-play scoring drive that was punctuated by Buffs receiver Omarion Miller high-pointing a touchdown pass over cornerback Jay'Vion Cole, who intercepted backup quarterback Ryan Staub to begin the second half.

After Colorado's scoring drive, the Buffaloes punted twice and threw two interceptions. Arizona scored 21 unanswered points to take a 38-7 lead at halftime.

The Buffaloes had plenty of opportunities to strike back, but penalties plagued Colorado, especially in the first half. An ineligible receiver penalty nixed a 75-yard touchdown pass from Salter to wide receiver Sincere Brown in the second quarter; Colorado also had an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for "brandishing a weapon."

Fifita threw what would've been his fifth interception of the season — first since the double-overtime loss to BYU — but a roughing-the-passer penalty on CU defensive end Arden Walker gave the Wildcats another life, but Arizona ended up punting. Colorado had 14 penalties for 110 yards on Saturday.

After the most efficient performance of Fifita's career, he completed 11 of 19 passes for 213 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions.

All of Fifita's touchdown passes were in the first half — and they were all to different receivers: Spivey, Hutson, Javin Whatley and Gio Richardson, who scored his first-career touchdown.

Fifita found Richardson in stride over the middle and the Chandler native raced for a 60-yard touchdown. Even though Richardson dislocated his finger in the first half, he caught another potential touchdown, but it was nullified from a holding penalty committed by backup left tackle Michael Wooten.

Nine different receivers have caught touchdown passes this season, which is two more than Arizona had all of last season.

"More guys are making plays now, which is exciting," Brennan said. "Any time we can be that explosive in the pass game, we become incredibly hard to defend. ... And Noah Fifita, just brilliant."

Fifita now has 65 career touchdowns. He's three touchdowns away from passing Nick Foles and Willie Tuitama for the most career touchdowns by an Arizona quarterback.

Cole had one of his top performances as a Wildcat and finished with five tackles, a stop for loss, an interception and a forced fumble.

Cole was one of three Wildcats to record an interception on Saturday — the first since the Oklahoma State game last month. The Wildcats committed their first of two turnovers after Cole's interception, when Hutson fumbled on the CU 35-yard line. Freshman running back Cornelius Warren III lost a fumble in the fourth quarter.

Arizona safety Dalton Johnson recorded his second interception of the season in the first half and returned it to the CU 8-yard line. Arizona cornerback Ayden Garnes intercepted Staub and was tackled at the Colorado 17-yard line.

Arizona running back Ismail Mahdi scored a 7-yard touchdown to give Arizona a 45-7 lead in the third quarter. The Wildcats scored 21 points off turnovers.

With just under four minutes left in the third quarter, Cole forced Brown to fumble, which was scooped up by free safety Genesis Smith and returned 44 yards to the Colorado 4-yard line.

Arizona had seven drives start inside Colorado territory, with four of them starting inside the red zone.

Unsung hero

Whatley's only reception on Saturday resulted in a 34-yard touchdown. Fifita stepped up in the pocket near midfield and fired a missile over the middle to Whatley, who was able to keep one foot inbounds for the Wildcats' final touchdown of the first half.

In the first half, Arizona had 38 points in 31 plays — an average of 1.2 points per play.

Whatley also had a 13-yard jet-sweep touchdown. The veteran receiver has five all-purpose touchdowns this season.

Arizona only had two players out on its availability report this week: left guard Jordan Brown and cornerback Marquis Groves-Killebrew, who has played 148 snaps in six games.

What's next

Arizona (5-4) now turns its attention to the Kansas Jayhawks (5-4) for homecoming on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. on ESPN2.

It will be Arizona's seventh straight game with a kickoff time at 6 p.m. or earlier.

Arizona's contest with Kansas will mark the seventh all-time matchup between the Wildcats and Jayhawks — the first since the UA joined the Big 12 last year.

The Wildcats last faced Kansas in Tucson in 1966. In the first matchup in 1936, the Wildcats and Jayhawks tied, 10-10. Arizona is 2-3-1 in the all-time series against KU.

For now, YouTube TV users will be unable to watch the game on Saturday after Disney failed to reach a renewal agreement with YouTube TV this week. Disney pulled all of its ESPN and ABC inventory from the platform, including recordings from previous events and games.

The winner of Arizona-Kansas will officially become bowl eligible.

Coach Prime, Colorado pass torch to Julian ‘JuJu’ Lewis during embarrassing loss to Arizona

BOULDER — The biggest cheer of the night came when a fan dressed as Andy Reid took his shirt off.

But the second biggest cheer? That was reserved for the moment freshman phenom Julian “JuJu” Lewis entered the game at quarterback.

Granted, there wasn’t much to cheer about on Saturday night as Colorado (3-6, 1-5 Big 12) suffered a second-straight embarrassing loss, this one a 52-17 defeat at the hands of Arizona (4-4, 2-3), and the 48,000-plus people in attendance had mostly all left by the start of the second half.

However, those who stayed — most notably a group of bare-chested male students waving their shirts that kept growing and growing — kept encouraging the 18-year-old Lewis in the first extended action of his career.

“I’m proud the kid got an opportunity,” coach Deion Sanders said. “Sometimes you’re forced to do some things that probably should be done anyway. He got his feet wet a little bit; he got to see blitzes, just real play. What he needed to work on, he will. He’s a worker. He’s gonna try his best to get it done.”

After both Kaidon Salter and Ryan Staub continued to struggle — combining for 11-for-17 passing for 49 yards, a touchdown, and three interceptions — Coach Prime finally had enough and put Lewis in the game for the first time since he played just two series against Delaware in Week 2.

“Common sense,” Coach Prime said, went into the decision to put Lewis in.

It wasn’t perfect, but it was a sign of life for a program that has looked lifeless since returning from the bye week. The Buffaloes have now lost the last two games by a combined score of 105-24, but at least the fans got a reminder of what the future could hold with Lewis at quarterback.

The Georgia native threw his first career touchdown pass on his second attempt of the night and it was a beautifully-placed throw downfield to Omarion Miller, who caught it and ran into the end zone for a 59-yard score.

Lewis finished 9-for-17 passing for 121 yards and a touchdown.

After Saturday’s loss, the Buffs now need to win out in order to reach a bowl game, but that’s probably not the concern of anyone inside the CU program with a defense that has allowed 50-plus points in back-to-back games for the first time under Sanders.

Maybe the final three games — at West Virginia, vs. Arizona State and Kansas State — are about seeing how much Lewis and the rest of the young players can progress with in-game reps, even if it means Lewis plays in five games and burns his redshirt.

“I don’t know his thought process, or his parents’. I just control what we can control,” Coach Prime said. “You gotta understand, I’m for the kids. If (a redshirt) is what they want, that’s what they’ll get. I’m not gonna mandate (that) you gotta play. Whatever’s best for these young men’s careers, I’m for that.”

But in today’s era of college football, that might not even matter. All that does is winning, and the Buffs might not do any more that this season, even if their coach believes they haven’t given up yet.

“I know a quitter when I see one,” Sanders said. “I haven’t seen one.”
