“Since I was not present while caregiver was there and live in Washington state, I can only comment on what I learned from a distance.Always Best Care staff, Holly as care manager, was always prompt with reports, caring in her reporting. The staff said Chloe had Mike out involved in activities which contributed to his improved cognitive. Too bad he fell but sadly nothing to be done about Mike's falls. They sometimes just happen no matter how many aids there are in place.I appreciated the ability of Always Best Care to provide a caregiver in 24'.Thank you.”

“I am a past client of this provider Always Best Care (ABC) in Longmont provided outstanding, emphatic service in helping move a family member into a new residence, making possible a higher level of care for her than previously available. In addition to supporting her prior to and through this highly stressful process, ABC, and particularly Madison and Michelle, provided extremely useful advice to us, including recommendations for movers and for a pet fostering service that will care for some of her pets until their new homes can be identified. Throughout the process ABC gave us abundant time and attention. Their recommendations and support were spot-on. We highly recommend them.”

What is Non-Medical Senior Care in Denver, CO?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. So, if you've always wanted to eat at the local Wildflower or visit Governor's Residence at the Boettcher Mansion, don't feel bad. Doing so is great for both you and your loved one.

At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

If you have been on the fence about non-medical home care, there has never been a better time than now to give your senior the care, assistance, and companionship they deserve.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Denver, CO, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

 Elderly Care Denver, CO

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your CO's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.
 Senior Care Denver, CO

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Denver, CO understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

 Respite Care Denver, CO

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Caregivers who work at assisted living communities can also provide medication administration and personal care services for older adults.

Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation
  • Personal Care
 Caregivers Denver, CO

At Always Best Care, our representatives can match your senior's emotional, physical, and financial needs with viable assisted living communities nearby. Results are based on comparative data, so you can select the best choice for you or your loved one.

Always Best Care works closely with local senior living communities to gain valuable knowledge that we then use to help seniors and their loved ones make informed decisions. This information can include basic care and rent, resident availability, and services provided. Because Always Best Care is compensated by these communities, we provide senior living referral services at no extra cost to you.

Some of the most popular assisted living communities to consider in our area include the following:

  • Stacy's Helping Hand
  • The Courtyards at Mountain View
  • The Gardens at St Elizabeth
  • Rosemark At Mayfair Park
  • Kavod Senior Life
  • Cherry Hills Assisted Living and Memory Care
Home Care Denver, CO

For many seniors, moving into a senior living community revolves around how and when they want to make a transition to more involved care. Some seniors are more proactive about transitioning to independent living. Others choose to remain home until their care needs or other requirements are satisfied. Remember - our staff is here to help. Contact our office today to learn more about assisted living communities and how we can find a facility that exceeds your expectations.

Dry Dock Brewing will debut a new brewpub in Denver's Washington Park, reviving a beloved local space.

DENVER — Brewer Dry Drock Brewing announced plans to open a new brewpub in Denver as it closes its Aurora home.

Dry Dock Brewing said it will open Dry Dock Pub at 1101 S. Pearl St., in Denver's Washington Park neighborhood, this spring.

The building was previously home to the Pub on Pearl, which closed in August after 35 years.

The company said Left Hand Collective will oversee operations at the new Dry Dock Pub, following Dry Dock’s merger with Left Hand Brewing under Left Hand Collective in April 2025.

The brewery said the Denver pub will have more than a dozen taps of Dry Dock’s and Left Hand’s craft beers, as well as an outdoor patio, private event areas, TVs, bar games, and a stage for regular live music.

Dry Drock Brewing is closing its South Dock location in Aurora on Saturday, Jan. 10.

The new Denver Dry Dock Pub’s grand opening date will be announced in the coming months.

“We couldn’t be more excited about this location and the community that makes it so special,” said Michelle Reding, Dry Dock Co-Founder. “We’re honored to carry forward the Pub’s legacy with a welcoming atmosphere while incorporating thematic Dry Dock elements that enhance the experience.”

“It’s been a natural partnership with Dry Dock from the start,” said Eric Wallace, Left Hand Founder and CEO. “They’ve always been rooted in community and hospitality, and that’s something we share at Left Hand. We want this space to feel like home – with the same welcoming spirit you find at Dry Dock’s original location, and our Tasting Room in Longmont and Left Hand RiNo in Denver. It’s about coming together and building community over great beer.”

Colorado braces for a midweek storm bringing snow and cold, potentially disrupting Denver commutes.

DENVER — The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team has issued a Weather Impact Alert on Thursday as snow and colder temperatures will impact the Front Range, Denver metro area and Colorado mountains.

Warm Wednesday

Wednesday will be mild and dry in Denver, with upper 50s for high temperatures. Denver's average high temperature in early January is between 44-45 degrees.

Thursday-Friday storm

The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team said the next storm approaches Colorado on Thursday, dropping temperatures and bringing the chance for some much-needed precipitation.

Highs in the Denver area are expected to be in the low 40s, with the chance for rain and or snow showers across the metro area and Front Range.

Depending on the timing, the Front Range could see some snow accumulation through Thursday evening, making for a potentially slick Friday morning commute as lows are set to drop to the low 20s.

As of now, the storm track stays primarily south and west of downtown Denver, with Colorado's Wet Mountains (south of Castle Rock) under a Winter Storm Watch for the potential for heavy snow. Accumulations between 6-11 inches possible there, with around 3-6 inches possible over the Palmer Divide and foothills.

Colorado's Elkhead and Park Mountains, along with the West Elk and Sawatch mountains are under Winter Weather Advisories starting late Wednesday through Friday morning for slick travel and snow accumulations ranging between 3-12 inches.

Time for David Adelman to show he is the right man for the job.

Anyone can post a winning record with Nikola Jokic, who could turn fire hydrants into functional scorers. But the view of the Nuggets without him remains dim. The phrase lottery team gets thrown around freely.

Well, Jokic is expected to miss at least a month with a hyperextended left knee, joining Aaron Gordon (hamstring), Christian Braun (high ankle sprain), Cam Johnson (hyperextended knee) and backup center Jonas Valanciunas (strained calf) on the injured list.

There is no silver lining to this. No benefit to losing this many players. Not when a top seed is at stake, not when the expectations begin and end with a championship.

If you thought Adelman taking over with three games remaining in the regular season last year was a steep challenge, this is his black diamond slope.

Adelman must keep the Nuggets competitive in Jokic’s absence, become less of a psychologist and more of a scientist.

“I have to find the best way to reinvent this group in the short term,” he said on his Altitude radio show.

The starting lineup is likely to include future All-Star Jamal Murray, Jalen Pickett, Spencer Jones, Peyton Watson and DaRon Holmes. In baseball parlance, that is a split squad spring training lineup.

But don’t let Adelman off the hook. He would not want it.

Adelman stresses the importance of instilling belief and confidence in his players, of putting them in positions to be succeed. That is a lot harder when the sun — Jokic — is no longer part of the universe.

However, here’s the deal: Of the projected 18 games without Jokic — he is walking without crutches, an early good sign — only five are against teams with winning records.

Everyone goes through adversity. The Nuggets just decided to have all their injuries at once. But with Braun likely back in the next few days, and Gordon returning after the road trip, reinforcements are on the way.

It will require patience and experimentation for Adelman, who has a well-earned reputation as an offensive genius, to find the right rotation. If Valanciunas was available, the pieces would fit almost seamlessly.

As it stands, the Nuggets must win with small ball. When Tim Hardaway Jr. joins the first five, even smaller ball. And with another injury, it will be full on Mini-Me ball with Verne Troyer.

The problems are huge. But Adelman has adopted the appropriate mindset of no excuses. The Nuggets’ health stinks. This stretch of games, however, does not.

It is on Adelman to show how deep-rooted he is in his spot by not losing a good playoff seed over the next month.

Why Not C-Mac? If Christian McCaffrey becomes the first player to post 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving twice, he should be the MVP. Because if he does — he needs 110 yards receiving on Saturday night — it means the 49ers will likely beat Seattle and secure the NFC’s No. 1 seed. So, tell me how Drake Maye and Matthew Stafford would be better candidates than the best player on the league’s best team?

Who-who-Hoosiers: Light up a Cig and celebrate the accomplishment. Curt Cignetti has orchestrated the greatest turnaround in college football history. Sorry, Bill Snyder. You never threatened to win a national title at Kansas State. Let’s just call it like we see it: Cignetti is the new Nick Saban. His teams are smart, disciplined, talented and unselfish. It wasn’t long ago that Indiana gave away free tickets to Cub Scouts and high school bands to help fill the empty seats at games. Now, the university once famous for hoops coach Bobby Knight, is a football school. And will be for a long, long time.

DENVER — Families across Colorado rang in the new year by welcoming new lives!

Local hospitals are celebrating New Year's Day by spotlighting the first babies born in the state in 2026. Morning reports indicated the region's first baby of the year was born in Castle Rock, but later releases show a birth occurred just minutes earlier.

In Denver, HCA HealthOne Rose reported that Eliza Erin Russell was born at 12:13 a.m., marking the hospital's first birth of 2026. The 5 pound 11.2-ounce baby girl was welcomed by her parents, Breonna Conner and David Russell.

Less than 10 minutes later, a hospital further south delivered another baby — with the same name!

AdventHealth Castle Rock said baby girl Eliza, born at 12:21 a.m., was the hospital's first of the year. At 7 pounds and 1 ounce, Eliza has joined parents Anna and Filipe Maia, as well as big sister Olivia.

The next birth in the timeline took place in Englewood.

At HCA HealthONE Swedish, parents Veronica and Nick Reichert welcomed Noelle Marie Reichert at 1:34 a.m., according to a spokesperson. The baby girl weighs 6 pounds and 14 ounces.

Other hospitals in Denver are also highlighting their first deliveries.

Denver Health announced that Oulahni Flores was the first baby born at the hospital this year. Oulahni's parents, Claudia Flores-Rios and Erik Flores, welcomed their baby at 2 a.m. on New Year's Day, the hospital said.

To commemorate the first birth of 2026, Denver Health said it gifted the new parents with 2,026 diapers.

The parents also received a bag with supplies to help support the newborn as part of the hospital's "Hello, Little One" program, which has provided families whose babies are born at the hospital with essential items since 2003, the hospital said.

HCA HealthONE Presbyterian St. Luke's, another Denver hospital, reported that its first baby of the year was Izaleah Sarahi Urstadt-Cabral.

The 8 pound 4.1-ounce baby was born at 3:02 a.m. to parents Cinthia Zoe Cabral and Ryan Gerald Urstadt III.

Other hospitals across Colorado are also celebrating their first deliveries.

The first baby born in the UCHealth system was Alejandro Regalado, who was born at 1:01 a.m. at UCHealth Greeley Hospital to parents Graciela Martinez and Alejandro Regalado.

Nine minutes later at 1:10 a.m., UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central in Colorado Springs welcomed baby girl Bultez to parents Carina and Corbin Bultez. She is the couple’s first child and will join two golden retriever siblings.

Additional UCHealth New Year's babies include:

Several marijuana products sold by a single company to dispensaries across Colorado have potentially unsafe pesticides that exceed the legal limits, state health and business regulators said in a health advisory on Wednesday.

Vapes and infused pre-rolled marijuana produced by CC Brands, LLC, doing business as "Stash House CO," have been voluntarily recalled, according to the Colorado Department of Revenue and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, but the affected batches were produced between Feb. 27 and Dec. 11, 2025, and are sold in 295 stores across the state, those agencies said.

Those stores span almost every corner of the state and include around 75 stores in Denver, 55 in Colorado Springs, 11 in Aurora, nine in Fort Collins, seven in Boulder, and are sold in popular dispensary chains like Native Roots, The Green Solution, Star Buds, Green Dragon, and Igadi.

A full list of these stores can be found here.

Reached by phone, a representative for CC Brands, LLC, said there are no longer impacted batches of the products on shelves. Every batch was pulled from shelves within the last two weeks or so, he said.

Anyone who does have those vapes or pre-rolls from the affected batch numbers, however, is urged to return them to the store where they were purchased or dispose of them, the state's Marijuana Enforcement Division said. Those batch numbers are as follows:

Contaminated Production Batches:

Potentially Contaminated Production Batches:

"Individuals who experience adverse health effects after consuming the affected product should seek medical attention immediately and report the event to the MED by submitting an MED Reporting Form," the state's health advisory reads.

The tested batches found levels beyond the regulatory limits of the chemicals chlorfenapyr and fluopyram.

Marijuana products have been recalled in Colorado for various reasons before, and in 2015, there were at least two recalls due to pesticides — one in September of that year and one in October — although other recalls have been due to yeast and mold, among other reasons.
