“My brother passed within 3 hours of the first shift, so we didn't have an opportunity to evaluate your caregivers. The process of setting up a care plan and arranging the payment worked very fine. “Since I was not present while caregiver was there and live in Washington state, I can only comment on what I learned from a distance. Always Best Care staff, Holly as care manager, was always prompt with reports, caring in her reporting. The staff said Chloe had Mike out involved in activities which contributed to his improved cognitive. Too bad he fell but sadly nothing to be done about Mike's falls. They sometimes just happen no matter how many aids there are in place. I appreciated the ability of Always Best Care to provide a caregiver in 24'. Thank you.”

What is Non-Medical Senior Care in Boulder, CO?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. So, if you've always wanted to eat at the local Flagstaff House or visit Mork Mindy House, don't feel bad. Doing so is great for both you and your loved one.

At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

If you have been on the fence about non-medical home care, there has never been a better time than now to give your senior the care, assistance, and companionship they deserve.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Boulder, CO, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

 Elderly Care Boulder, CO

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your CO's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.
 Senior Care Boulder, CO

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Boulder, CO understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

 Respite Care Boulder, CO

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Caregivers who work at assisted living communities can also provide medication administration and personal care services for older adults.

Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation
  • Personal Care
 Caregivers Boulder, CO

At Always Best Care, our representatives can match your senior's emotional, physical, and financial needs with viable assisted living communities nearby. Results are based on comparative data, so you can select the best choice for you or your loved one.

Always Best Care works closely with local senior living communities to gain valuable knowledge that we then use to help seniors and their loved ones make informed decisions. This information can include basic care and rent, resident availability, and services provided. Because Always Best Care is compensated by these communities, we provide senior living referral services at no extra cost to you.

Some of the most popular assisted living communities to consider in our area include the following:

  • The Pearl at Boulder Creek
  • Sunrise of Boulder
  • Frasier Retirement Community
  • Sunrise at FlatIrons
  • MorningStar Assisted Living Memory Care of Boulder
  • Brookdale Boulder Creek

For many seniors, moving into a senior living community revolves around how and when they want to make a transition to more involved care. Some Boulder views bring the mountains close. Others remind you just how far the Colorado landscape stretches.

Today’s Outdoor Picture of the Day celebrates Longs Peak, one of the highest and most recognizable mountains visible from Boulder. Rising beyond the nearby foothills, its commanding silhouette adds high-country drama to a skyline that never seems to get old.

The Flatirons capture our attention up close. Longs Peak invites us to look farther.

At 14,259 feet above sea level, Longs Peak towers over the northern Front Range. Its summit lies in Boulder County within Rocky Mountain National Park, making it the county’s highest point—a distinction separate from the mountains immediately surrounding the city.

For people in Boulder, its appeal is the view: a distant fourteener that can become part of an everyday walk, a scenic drive, or a quiet moment outdoors.

Look generally northwest toward the higher mountains. Depending on your vantage point, Longs Peak’s broad summit rises beyond the lower ridges, bringing a different scale to the landscape.

You can see it throughout the seasons when conditions cooperate. Clouds, haze, trees, buildings, and intervening foothills can obscure it, so an open sightline makes all the difference.

Lost Gulch Overlook, reached from Flagstaff Road above Boulder, offers an elevated perspective toward Longs Peak and the Continental Divide. The rocky setting and expansive mountain backdrop make it a memorable place to pause and take in the view.

For another perspective, head north into Boulder County. Hall Ranch near Lyons offers beautiful views of Longs Peak from portions of its trail system. Seeing the mountain beyond the rolling foothills helps reveal just how much higher the alpine world rises.

McIntosh Lake in Longmont is another standout, especially for photographers who enjoy water in the foreground. Longs Peak rises beyond the lake, creating a striking combination of open sky, water, and mountain scenery.

Longs Peak’s present name honors Stephen H. Long, whose expedition described the mountain in 1820. Indigenous peoples knew this landscape long before the expedition arrived.

On August 23, 1868, a party including John Wesley Powell and newspaper publisher William Byers completed the first documented ascent by Western climbers. The National Park Service includes their climb among the region’s historic milestones.

Boulder’s connection to Longs Peak comes through both geography and the experience of seeing it. The mountain belongs to the county’s broader landscape, while its distant profile gives residents a familiar landmark to find on clear days.

Today’s photograph captures that enduring appeal.

You do not have to climb Longs Peak to make a connection with it. Sometimes, simply spotting it beyond the foothills is enough to change the feeling of a day.

Among the many outdoor discoveries around Boulder, this view remains a favorite—a reminder that everyday life here unfolds within sight of something extraordinary.

4-4 and shoulda-gone-for-two Kansas State?

CU Buffs students do, apparently.

Says a lot.

Not all of it kind.

“Our fan base is great,” Buffs tight end Charlie Williams said after his 11-yard touchdown grab in overtime sealed a wacky, field-storming 27-24 win over the Wildcats. “We love it. Kinda crazy because the field goal posts started coming down, and I was like, ‘All right, they’re storming the field.'”

For … that?

Yeah, we know, we know. Halloween weekend. Noon kick. Hangover special. CU students finally saw the Buffs’ (3-5, 1-4 Big 12) five-game losing streak snapped. They finally saw a nine-game Big 12 losing skid snapped. Saturday was the first time the Buffs had scored more than 24 points against a Power 4 opponent since a 52-0 demolition of Oklahoma State in November 2024.

Let ’em have their fun, right? Fine. But know this: Storming the field for an overtime win over a team you should’ve run out of the building — especially when you pile up a season-best 222 rushing yards — sure is a curious look for a program with championship aspirations. It’s awfully … well … 2022.

“Should have never went to overtime, I feel,” Sanders, now 19-26 over four seasons at CU, 10-22 in league contests, reflected later. “(We) allowed some crazy things to happen.”

The craziest stuff happened midway through the second quarter and right at the end of regulation. CU had Kansas State on the ropes at least twice. The Buffs should’ve put the QB-challenged Wildcats away just before halftime, only to fumble away a 13-0 lead out of the back of the K-State end zone.

The second K-State escape was more painful. CU was trying to salt away the clock while nursing a 21-14 lead with 50 seconds left. The Wildcats, behind former Erie quarterback Blake Barnett, got the ball back at their own 38.

And for the next 46 seconds, Colorado Avenue became Blake Street.

Barnett, tougher than old boots, completed a 23-yard pass to the Buffs’ 39. Then a 5-yard toss. On second-and-5 at the CU 34, K-State wideout Jaron Tibbs beat the Buff defense for a 31-yard gain to the Buffs’ 3. On third-and-goal from the Buffs’ 8-yard line, Barnett, on what looked like one good leg, squeezed a ball into tight end Garrett Oakley for a score with two seconds left to bring K-State to within 21-20.

In a decision he would probably regret later, Collin Klein, the first-year Wildcats coach and former Loveland High standout, chose to kick the extra point after initially lining up for a 2-point conversion to win in regulation.

Williams gave Sanders a Halloween treat to remember. And Klein is going to be kicking himself all the way back to Manhattan.

In hindsight, maybe it was only apropos for one of the weirdest weeks of the Coach Prime Era at CU — with Sanders denying he would pay critics $50,000 not to talk about him and national media buzzards circling a Buffs squad back in the Big 12 basement — to end with one of the strangest games at Folsom in recent memory. For one week, at least, the “buyout” chatter gets a sweet reprieve.

“It takes a lot of pressure off, honestly,” Buffs safety Randon Fontenette said. “There was a lot of chatter (this week) that I don’t even want to speak on… It felt like a dark cloud over this place… it’s a huge relief.”

Klein and his ‘Cats (4-4, 1-4) got the version of CU that the Buffs flashed in the second half here in a near-miss against Texas Tech and in the first half last weekend in Stillwater. Tailback Richard Young accounted for 120 yards and two TDs on 24 carries. Running mate JaQuail Smith added 63 on the ground.

From discipline to play-calling, this was Peak Buffs. Desperate Buffs. Urgent Buffs. CU was flagged for just 53 yards in penalties and turned it over only once. Sanders and offensive coordinator Brennan Marion leaned on the run game and punter Damon Greaves to leverage better field position rather than trusting QB Isaac Wilson in a one-score game.

Good call. The Buffs ran where they wanted, when they wanted, for the most part. Young’s 22-yard TD sprint three minutes into the final stanza capped a 10-play, 96-yard scoring drive that put the hosts up 20-14 before the extra point.

And, in hindsight, it shouldn’t have been that close. Special teams miscues continue to nag. Running with a return right after signaling for a fair catch. An illegal formation call on a fourth-quarter CU punt gave the Wildcats 22 more yards of field position after the second return.

A noon kick on a Halloween Saturday was always going to be a tough sell for college kids on a holiday weekend. And the first quarter was notable for the number of students who came disguised as empty seats. The crowd did trickle in before halftime, though, and those who remained for the duration came away with plenty to talk about.

K-State rolled into town without its top two QB options in Avery Johnson and Jacob Knuth. With Dillon Duff and Barnett warming up, Klein chose the former — a sophomore out of St. Louis making his collegiate debut. It showed. The visitors had all of two passing yards by the start of the second quarter.

But just as CU, which was already up 7-0, looked ready to put this bad boy away early, the football gods had other ideas.

The Buffs marched upfield quickly behind a 19-yard Wilson toss to DeAndre Moore Jr. to the K-State 40 and two Young runs that brought up a second-and-7 at the Wildcats’ 30. DeKalon Taylor took a pitch from his QB and exploded with the rock up the left boundary and raced into the end zone — which is where K-State, literally, got cheeky.

As Taylor reached the 1-yard line, Wildcat cornerback Kaleb Patterson went for the CU back’s legs and, as a result, hit the runner’s hands with his hindquarters. The ball squirted out like a wet bar of soap before rolling all the way out of the back of the end zone for a K-State touchback.

The Buffs were inches from a 13-0 lead before the turnover, but the fine margins bit Sanders’ team in the backside again.

“I don’t know what the definition of ‘desperation’ is. I don’t think these young men are desperate,” Sanders said later. “The main thing I told them to do is go out there and have fun. It’s impossible to have fun when you get your butt kicked.”

The desperate know better than to complain about a little light that breaks through all those dark clouds. Even when it’s 4-4 … K-State.

Even a dying dog has a good day, now and again, before the inevitable closes in and the goalposts come down for a long winter’s nap. For the first time since Georgia Tech, CU snatched a victory from someone in its weight class. With four winnable games left on the fight card, including road trips to Arizona State and Cincinnati, we’ll know soon enough if Sanders’ fourth team is actually ready for Prime Time.

Deion Sanders’ Colorado squad came into their game against the Kansas State Wildcats 2-5 at the bottom of the barrel in the Big 12. To date, the team hadn’t won a conference game since Oct. 11, 2025, and they owned a five-game losing streak after beginning the year on a high note.

The game was tied at 21 apiece when four quarters finished, forcing an overtime period that saw Kansas State kick a field goal to take a three-point lead.

If Colorado was able to find the end zone on the ensuing possession, they would snap that losing streak and finally get that first conference win of the year.

On third-and-9, quarterback Isaac Wilson pulled back the ball on an RPO scheme and looked to throw into the end zone. He fired a bullet to tight end Charlie Williams, who snagged the football out of the air and walked into the end zone for an 11-yard score — his only catch of the game.

With the six points, Colorado sent the stadium into a frenzy as it walked off Kansas State and improved to 4-4 on the season.

As Sanders went to shake hands with Kansas State, fans hopped over the wall and stormed the field, most of them decked out in Halloween costumes.

Fans appeared ready to storm the field in regulation, but Kansas State’s touchdown with two seconds left tied the game and kept them behind the wall. Colorado eventually won, though, allowing fans to rush the field and, as is customary, tear down the goalposts while celebrating the spooky home victory.

Colorado has matched its win total from last season in the fourth year of the Deion Sanders era. But despite the victory, Sanders’ name has been mentioned among coaches on the hot seat, making the modest milestone far from what he and his staff envisioned.

The Buffaloes still have four games remaining this season, and they will need to win three of them to become bowl-eligible. If that happens, perhaps Sanders is safe moving forward into next year.

If not… well, you do the math. There’s no telling what Colorado plans to do with Sanders, but the Buffaloes have struggled to regain their winning ways since his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter and others left for the NFL.

Next week, the Buffaloes will look to build a win streak against Arizona State before facing Houston, Cincinnati and UCF to end the year.

Meanwhile, Kansas State has similarly struggled in conference play, going 1-4 in the Big 12.

Kansas State couldn't top Colorado in a 27-24 loss at Folsom Field on Saturday, Oct. 31, in Boulder, Colorado.

The Wildcats fall to 4-4 overall and 1-4 in Big 12 play. It was their second straight game without starting quarterback Avery Johnson. K-State played two different quarterbacks against the Buffaloes.

Here are our takeaways from an ugly, but thrilling afternoon in Boulder.

Kansas State forced overtime, but couldn't pull it off

Blake Barnett, the fourth quarterback Kansas State has used in three weeks, led the Wildcats on a 62-yard touchdown drive in the final 55 seconds and, with two seconds left, completed an eight-yard touchdown pass to Colorado.

Wildcats Collin Klein initially kept his offense on the field. After several stoppages, he settled for the game-tying extra point to force overtime.

Starting with the ball, the Wildcats were forced to kick a field goal, giving Colorado the chance to tie or take the lead. The Buffaloes scored a touchdown on their fourth play when Isaac Wilson found Charlie Williams for an 11-yard touchdown pass on third-and-9.

Blake Barnett replaced Dillon Duff in first quarter

Sophomore Dillon Duff started at quarterback for the Wildcats, but only lasted nine plays. Three first-quarter three-and-outs led the Wildcats to put Barnett in the game.

Duff had wide-open receivers but didn't pull the trigger. He looked overwhelmed and got spooked by pressure that had yet to arrive. He was 1-for-1 for two yards and took a pair of sacks.

Barnett was a hero late in regulation, completing passes of 23 and 31 yards before finding Oakley for an eight-yard touchdown to force overtime. He was an efficient 18 for 28 through the air for 224 yards and three touchdowns. He rushed for 40 yards on 16 attempts. He was the far better option behind center.

Kansas State's defense is shaky, but it got stops late

Giving up firsts on third-and-longs, explosive plays, and a lack of eye discipline are haunting the Wildcats' defense. The Buffaloes scored on runs of 47 and 22 where the ball-carrier went untouched. The Wildcats will have a rough film session this week.

Colorado finished with 407 yards, with 222 coming on the ground. The Buffaloes were close to having an additional touchdown in the first half, but fumbled right before the goal line at the end of a 30-yard run. The ball went out the back of the end zone for a touchback.

The most positive thing that can be said about the defense is that it forced punts on their final two drives, giving the offense chances to tie the game.

With Oklahoma State coming to Manhattan next week, the Wildcats could be in trouble.
