WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) - The Waterloo Black Hawks Hockey team is offering a reward to help a fan find a Christmas gift that disappeared over the weekend.
Billy Wilkie’s mother gifted her son a bracelet for Christmas that originally belonged to his father. Just a few days later, the bracelet was lost.
It’ll be two years in February since Billy Wilkie’s father passed away. For Christmas, he opened a gift that had this bracelet inside.
”It was just his dad’s and he wore it a lot,” said Renee Wilkie, Billy’s mother. ”I just thought it was time that Billy had that.”
Just days after Christmas, Billy went to a Waterloo Black Hawks game with his friends.
”As I’m getting ready I realize I can’t get this thing on by myself so I just put it in my pocket. And I said when my friends get over here they can help me put it on and we’ll go out to the game and have a nice evening,” Billy Wilkie said.
Billy forgot the bracelet was in his pocket and it never made it to his wrist.
”I think I lost it during the Chuck-A-Puck thing. I had my pockets full of Chuck-A-Pucks and I was pulling them out and throwing them out having a nice time and the next day I realize oh crap I don’t have that bracelet anymore,” Billy Wilkie said.
He searched everywhere he could think of, but no luck.
“Kinda coming to terms now that I’m probably not going to get it back but then I hear the Black Hawks have caught wind of the story,” Billy Wilkie said.
The team saw a post Renee Wilkie made on Facebook regarding the missing bracelet.
”As a father, I’ve got three boys, so for me it kind of hit home obviously. So that was something I just thought okay how can we help,” said Joe Greene, Waterloo Black Hawks president and Chief Operating Officer.
The bracelet hasn’t been found yet. The hope is someone picked it up and may not realize the owner is missing it.
”We saw that the young man who lost the bracelet offered 100 dollars which we thought was awesome and then we added 500 dollars cash plus two season tickets,” Greene said.
Greene says the community’s response to finding the bracelet has been unbelievable.
”We’ve had random families, we’ve had people that we don’t know that aren’t Black Hawks fans that have no affiliation with the family that have been in this area all day yesterday. They’ve been in the dumpsters. We’ve been on hands and knees searching in crevasses that I don’t even think we knew were there before,” Greene said.
The family is still holding out hope the bracelet will be found, but Billy Wilkie says one thing he’ll never lose is all the good memories of his dad.
“We would do nice trips, we’d go to Canada fishing and we’d play chess together and all sorts of stuff so I’ve got good memories,” Billy Wilkie said. “It’s not just one little thing but it was kind of a bummer to lose the coolest thing.”

The Panthers enter Saturday's dual with a perfect 8-0 record all-time against the Mountaineers, with a 26-12 win over WVU in Cedar Falls last season. UNI's average margin of victory over West Virginia under head coach Doug Schwab (since 2010-11) has been 16.2 points.
Northern Iowa returns to the road after splitting a pair of home duals last weekend to No. 3 Oklahoma State and No. 22 Oklahoma inside the McLeod Center. UNI, which fell to the Cowboys last Friday by a score of 22-14 with key wins at 133, 141 and 184 pounds. The Panthers bounced back with a 26-13 victory over the Sooners, winning six matches including five in bonus points.
Despite dropping its first dual of the season to Oklahoma State, the Panthers remain fifth in the National Wrestling Coaches Association's (NWCA) weekly rankings for a third straight week. UNI's 10-1 dual record is its best 11 dual start to a season since going 13-0 in duals during the 2013-14 season.
Saturday night's dual is expected to see up to a handful of potential rematches, including Cael Happel against Jordan Titus at 141 pounds, where Happel holds a perfect 4-0 record. Trever Anderson (125 pounds) will look for his first career win over Jett Strickenberger, with Colin Realbuto expected to face off with Sam Hillegas at 149 pounds, Jared Simma against Brody Conley at 174 and Parker Keckeisen vs. Dennis Robin at 184.

SCOUTING WEST VIRGINIA West Virginia looks for its first ever dual win against Northern Iowa as it hosts the Panthers inside WVU Coliseum on Saturday night.
The Mountaineers started the season 7-1 in duals, but have run into a tough stretch with top-25 losses to Iowa State, Pitt, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Missouri. WVU has lost four of its last duals overall.
West Virginia returns eight of its ten Big 12 Championship competitors from a season ago, including 165 pounder Peyton Hall, who placed seventh at the NCAA Championships last year. Ty Watters, the reigning Big 12 champion and All-American at 149 pounds, is out for the remainder of the season due to injury.
Other key returning Mountaineers include Jett Strickenberger (125 pounds), Jordan Titus (141 pounds) and Brody Conley (174 pounds).

The Panthers return to the court following an 86-78 loss to Washington State last Saturday at the Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas. After falling behind by 23 points to the Cougars, UNI roared back with an impressive offensive performance in the second half, aided by a 15-point showing from Tytan Anderson with the Panthers shooting 46.9% from the field, but would come up six points shy of completing the comeback.
Anderson and Leon Bond III both led Northern Iowa with 17 points against Washington State, with Anderson notching a double-double with ten rebounds, along with four assists. Bond finished with seven boards. Ben Schwieger tallied ten points in the loss, with Campbell posting nine points and seven rebounds. Jacob Hutson recorded six points with four boards, as Redek Born posted four points.
The Panthers, who have won four of their last five games, with all four wins coming by 20+ points, continue to lead all of Division I with a 52% shooting clip. UNI is also eighth nationally in effective field goal percentage (59%) and 16th in three-point shooting (39.7%).
Anderson leads UNI with 13.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest, while Hutson has recorded 13.2 points and four boards a game. Bond, the reigning MVC Player of the Week, leads the Panthers with a 60.2% shooting mark with 11.9 points and 5.3 rebounds in his first season with Northern Iowa, as Trey Campbell has tallied ten points and a team-high 42 total assists on the year. LAST TIME OUT SIU fell to High Point, 94-81, last time out. Ali Dibba scored a career-high 27 in the loss, marking the second time this season that the senior has scored more than 20 points. High Point (12-2) scored the first points of the game and did not surrender the lead for the remainder of the game. Leading by eight at the midway point of the first half Southern made a run to cut into the lead thanks in part to strong defensive efforts during an 8-2 run. Trailing at the break 51-37, the Salukis came out with energy early in the second and cut the High Point lead to just seven points. During the 9-2 run the SIU was able to get four players involved while forcing three turnovers during the stretch. High Point weathered the Saluki run and would answer back with a run of their own to push their lead back into double-digits. Titus Anderson gave the Panthers a 16-point lead with just eight minutes remaining and High Point would coast the rest of the way to pick up their 12th win of the season.

State officials have issued an emergency order suspending the license of a Cedar Falls physician in order to protect the public.
The order marks the fourth time the Iowa Board of Medicine has sanctioned Dr. Ted Bonebrake for alleged substance-abuse issues or violating restrictions on his practice.
Bonebrake, an addiction-medicine and family-medicine physician who has been practicing in the Cedar Falls area, is currently charged by the board with violating an order issued by the Iowa Physician Health Program – a program that helps physicians cope with mental and physical health issues as well as substance abuse. He is also charged with improper management of medical records.
According to the board, Bonebrake “self-reported to Iowa Physician Health Program at the direction of the board” on Nov. 10, 2022. The board alleges he was then under a cease-practice agreement with the program and was prohibited from working under his Iowa medical license.
The board alleges that at some unspecified point, the program received information indicating Bonebrake was writing multiple prescriptions for narcotics and accepting money for those prescriptions while still under his cease-practice agreement.
The program then nullified its contract with Bonebrake due to what the board calls “ongoing, significant non-compliance.” In November 2024, the program referred the matter to the board for review.
The undated emergency order suspending Bonebrake’s license was only recently made public. A hearing on the charges was held Dec. 12, but it’s not clear what action, if any, has been taken in the case.
Board records indicate that in 2001, three years after Bonebrake was licensed to practice medicine and perform surgery in Iowa, he was hospitalized for alcohol detoxification. In August 2003, the board alleges, Bonebrake twice tested positive for marijuana use.
In September 2003, the board charged Bonebrake with repeatedly violating the terms of his then-current Physician Health Program contract by failing to comply with drug screening requirements on six occasions and failing to attend after-care meetings on at least nine occasions. The board allowed Bonebrake to keep his license, subject to a substance abuse evaluation and a licensing probationary period of five years.
In September 2004, the board alleged it had received information Bonebrake was consuming alcohol in violation of his licensing probation. As a result, the board in 2005 issued Bonebrake a warning, fined him $1,000 and placed his license on indefinite probation with additional requirements for substance-abuse evaluations, treatment and monitoring.
In December 2005, Bonebrake was involved in a serious car accident after consuming alcohol, the board alleged.
In January 2006, the board charged Bonebrake with habitual intoxication or addiction to the use of drugs or alcohol, and violating a board order. As a result of those charges, Bonebrake agreed to a suspension of his Iowa medical license.
In May 2013, the board agreed to reinstate Bonebrake’s license with the understanding that it was being placed on indefinite probation.
On Nov. 30, 2022, the board restored Bonebrake’s license to full privileges with no restrictions.
