From there, it’s 50 to 55 minutes of playing, petting, cuddling, or kissing all the dogs available on site, which can be up to 20. Everything will work by reservation.
And that’s not all. CuppaPug will be working with DFW Pug Rescue to have ongoing dog adoptions in the location.
The CuppaPug concept originated in London and later expanded to Manchester. Its first location in the United States opened in Escondido, Calif., and the Frisco location will be its first in Texas and second in the country. A third will open in Las Vegas.
The Texas location is owned by the Taylors, a family who got their first pug, Bernadette, 11 years ago, when one of the family’s sons Grayson insisted he wanted a pug and saved up for a year to buy one.
“We actually didn’t want pugs, because you always hear all this, ‘Oh, pugs have health problems and they’re ugly,’ and all the horrible stories you hear about them,’” Taylor said. “But we got her and brought her home, and she just stole our hearts very quickly.”
After that, they became fans of pugs, buying and rescuing several. They discovered DFW Pug Rescue and got involved with the organization.
Years later, when Grayson graduated from high school, the family took a vacation to Europe as a gift. While in London, they decided to visit CuppaPug and fell in love with the concept.
“We walked out there and it was 10 times better than we ever thought,” said Taylor. “And they had been for less than two years. We were joking with the owners and saying, ‘We’re going to open one of these in Frisco, where we live.’ It was back in 2023.”
Now, CuppaPug Texas is very close to its opening day, if all the permits are granted on time.
CuppaPug will be located at 8100 Stonebrook Parkway in Frisco. The building was the former Sunny Days Christian Preschool. Now the place is being remodeled to accommodate pugs and their fans, as well as to host events, such as yoga classes with puppies or even human or pug weddings.
Initially, CuppaPug will serve bottled beverages from Evergreen Coffee and Energy, a local beverage company. Food and cocktails will be offered as permits to operate the kitchen progress.
The Taylor family’s six dogs will be at CuppaPug every day and will be joined by at least 15 other dogs whose rescue is in the hands of DFW Pug Rescue and live in foster homes.
The cost to enter CuppaPug will be $25.

FRISCO, Texas — Half a billion dollars can buy you 660 acres, a 500-room resort, two championship golf courses, a 75,000-square-foot putting green, 10 luxury ranch homes, a dozen or so restaurants and bars and something called a Topgolf lounge.
Apparently it can't buy you the respect of the world's best golfers, at least not yet.
The sprawling PGA Frisco compound -- which is set to host the men's PGA Championship in 2027 on its Fields Ranch East Course -- took a stray Wednesday from the most recent winner of the career grand slam.
Rory McIlroy was holding a press conference at the Scottish Open and talking about the various courses he'd like to win a major one day.
"I would love to win an Open at Portrush, absolutely," McIlroy said of this year's Open Championship site in his home country of Northern Ireland. "I would love to win an Open at St. Andrews. I would love to win a U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. I'd love to win a PGA at PGA Frisco -- not."
Ouch.
"But it's like there's venues in the game that just mean a little bit more," McIlroy said. "Frisco might get there one day, who knows."
Is McIlroy right in that assessment? Sure. It's hard to rank major wins above others -- at the end of the day, Jack Nicklaus has 18 majors and Tiger Woods has 15; they don't have a certain amount at "proper" venues -- but McIlroy and any other golfer on the planet would acknowledge that a few select courses carry a distinct level of aura. St. Andrews and Pebble Beach fall into that category, perhaps a category of their own.
Royal Portrush, in McIlroy's home country, would naturally carry more distinction for him. On the flip side, maybe PGA Frisco would produce a similar feeling for Dallas' own Scottie Scheffler, should he win the PGA in a couple of years.
McIlroy's comments Wednesday came on the heels of the recent complaints about PGA Frisco during the Women's PGA Championship last month. The handwringing was mostly about the course setup, not the course itself, as Golfweek detailed here, and the sweltering temps and gusty winds didn't help much either (welcome to North Texas in late June). There was also some social media chirping about the slow play and how the course looked on TV.
To be fair, the PGA Frisco courses -- both Fields Ranch East, designed by Gil Hanse, and the West, designed by Beau Welling -- have drawn solid reviews since opening in May 2023. The East Course barely missed Golf Digest's Top 200 rankings, no small feat for a newly-opened track. Fried Egg Golf, which goes deep on golf course architecture and design, has praised Hanse's blend of playability and challenge in the course. The Dallas Morning News ranked both Frisco courses in its Texas Top 50.
But this is how it goes in a game steeped in as much tradition as golf. It's hard for a newcomer to get as much respect as the St. Andrews and Oakmonts of the world. Erin Hills and Chambers Bay, two recent U.S. Open sites at newly constructed venues, faced similar scrutiny.
Maybe one day PGA Frisco will be viewed on the same level as the most prestigious venues in golf. Even Rory's giving it a chance.
