Home Care Arlington, VA

They say that your golden years are the best years of your life. For most older Americans, that's how it should be - a time to relax, reflect, and live life in a familiar place. After all, senior citizens in the U.S. have worked tirelessly to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise families.

However, as seniors grow older, completing daily tasks like showering and enjoying activities such as visiting Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA gets harder without someone by their side. Unfortunately, many older Americans aren't able to rely on their adult children for help. The reality in today's world is that family members do not have the skills or time to dedicate to caring for their parents. That's where Always Best Care Senior Services comes in.

Our in-home care services are for people who prefer to stay at home as they grow older but need ongoing care that family or friends cannot provide. More and more older adults prefer to live far away from long-term, institutionalized facilities and closer to the place where they feel most comfortable - their home. “We recently moved my mom to Virginia, and Always Best Care was right there to help us every step of the way. My mom has Alzheimer’s, and we were unsure how to move her safely and calmly, especially since she didn’t fully understand what was happening. Traveling by plane and arriving at National Airport added another layer of stress. Jonathan connected us with Bruce from Always Best Care in South Carolina, and together, both offices and our family coordinated Mom’s move. The South Carolina staff was great, and Mom’s caregiver moved her schedule around so she could travel with Mom. She was incredibly kind and gentle and stayed with Mom throughout the entire flight. Always Best Care also recommended medical transportation from the airport to her new facility. The driver was compassionate and took great care to make sure Mom was comfortable and safe. In the days following, another kind and compassionate caregiver immediately connected with Mom and helped make her transition to her new home a wonderful experience. Always Best Care was truly the answer our family needed. We are so thankful to Jonathan and Rashid for helping us navigate this difficult season and for treating Mom with such genuine kindness, dignity, and care. We highly recommend Always Best Care!”

“When I contacted Always Best Care, my primary need was reliable, safe transportation to and from a medical appointment. From the outset, Mr. Rashid Farrell went beyond simply arranging a ride. Mr. Farrell, along with a nurse, took the time to review my medical background and conduct a thorough health assessment to ensure my safety and comfort. This personalized approach gave me confidence that my well-being was their top priority. Even though my transportation needs later changed, the company’s commitment to quality and care remained consistent. They adapted seamlessly to my new requirements, maintaining the same level of attention to detail. The staff’s professionalism, empathy, and genuine concern for my needs made the experience not just convenient, but truly caring. I highly recommend Always Best Care to anyone seeking transportation services that combine reliability with compassionate, individualized care. They have earned my trust and loyalty!”

“Rashid and his team from Always Best Care of Fairfax were truly partners with our family as we together provided care for my husband when he needed it. As my husband's care needs increased, ABC never failed to step up to provide the additional services and dedicated care necessary and, when needed, the recommendations for rehab and other outside services. Rashid is the kindest, most patient and most responsive owner/operator of any business I have ever worked with - both in healthcare and otherwise. I cannot imagine having gone through this part of our lives without Rashid and his team. Ms. Martine was also always very responsive every time she was needed, often as an emergency and after hours. Ms. Genet was with us the longest and we were always happy to see her. In her low-key professional manner, she successfully encouraged him to do all he could with physical therapy and other activities. Ms. Stacey spent many long hours with us and was always patient and supportive to both of us and provided excellent care as did Ms. Benica and Ms. Salay. Ms. Jidy was with us at the end of our journey and was truly a Godsend to both of us. I will be forever grateful to Rashid and his team and will never forget their dedication, support and kindness to us.”

“I highly recommend Always Best Care! We have been using their services since August when we moved my mom into assisted living. She needed a lot of extra personal help, and we weren’t quite sure how the transition would go, but Rashid ensured that from the moment she arrived at her new home, she had a caregiver there to help her. All of the care professionals from Always Best have been warm, nurturing and professional, but the two who have been with my mom the longest, Ms.Jidy and Ms Shanice, have played a critical role in helping my mom adapt to her new home and be healthy. Beyond caring for her personal physical needs, they have helped her make friends, made sure she attended fun activities and went on excursions, took her outside to enjoy the sunshine, reminded her to do her exercises, and more. They have noticed when something is “off” with her and she isn’t quite herself, and have notified the nurses they suspect some medical attention is needed. My mom’s quality of life is definitely better due to their care, and my family has peace of mind knowing they are with her. Additionally, Rashid and Ron are incredibly thoughtful, professional and communicative, which we really appreciate. We are so glad we made the decision to use Always Best!”

“Always Best Care was a godsend for our family. When my dad needed immediate care, Mr. Rashid and his team stepped in with kindness, skill, and professionalism. I knew Always Best Care was different right from the initial assessment. Mr. Rashid, the owner, came with a nurse to meet my father, and together they quickly earned his trust. Other agencies had done similar assessments, but their staff barely interacted with him. The Always Best Care team, on the other hand, engaged with my dad and encouraged him to do things he hadn’t done in months — walking, stretching, showering, even playing word games. Their expertise and compassion gave me peace of mind, knowing my dad was not only being cared for but also gently challenged in ways I couldn’t manage on my own. My dad especially loved Ms. Renette, whose patience and kindness won him over, and Ms. Bouchra, who motivated him to stretch and walk outside after months of not doing so. Thank you, Always Best Care, for supporting our family and helping make such a difficult time easier and kinder.”

“I cannot say enough wonderful things about this company and the owner Rashid Farrell. We were searching for in home care for our aging parents so that we could keep them in the home they love for as long as possible. We began our search with our parent's primary physician, and he provided us with the names of a couple of agencies...one being Always Best Care. We spoke with Rashid about the type of care we were looking for and the specific needs of our parents and he listened carefully and provided wonderful insight and advice to us. He explained how and why he got into this particular business and it was mostly because of his own experience wanting the best care for his parents as they aged. He approaches his business from a caring and compassionate place and provided a care plan specific to our needs. He even found us a night caregiver in just a few short hours in the evening after our mom fell and broke her scapula and the hospital needed to release her ... at that time, we only had care from 9 to 5. He follows up constantly...checking in to make sure we are happy with the service we are getting. He also helped us transition our parents to an assisted living facility when the time came. His caregivers are kind and responsible. Our parents became very fond of Ms. Almaz as she was their main caregiver, but they also enjoyed the company of Ms. Salay, Ms. Stacy, Ms. Millie and Ms. Renette. If I had to do this all over again, I would definitely use Always Best Care...The name is appropriate because Rashid does provide the absolute Best Care for our aging loved ones!”

“If you're looking for care for a loved one and don't know who to trust, look no further. Rashid and his team of caregivers at Always Best Care Senior Services provided top-notch care for my 88-year-old mother over the course of several weeks. I was impressed by Rashid's professionalism, responsiveness, and dependability. When I first contacted him, he took the time to meet with me and my mother at her residence to better understand our needs. He always managed to line up high-quality caregivers, often on short notice. My mother was not in a good place mentally and resisted receiving care from strangers, yet she told me she was pleased with each of the caregivers that Rashid sent her way. My thanks to Ms. Martine, Ms. Barbara, Ms. Gidy, and Ms. Anna. They drove my mother to various appointments, helped her communicate with her healthcare providers, and supported her emotionally. I should also mention that the billing process was straightforward and transparent, with no surprises. Finding care for a loved one can be daunting and scary. You won't be disappointed if you turn to Rashid and his team.”

What is Non-Medical Senior Care in Arlington, VA?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Arlington, VA, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

 Elderly Care Arlington, VA

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your VA's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.
 Senior Care Arlington, VA

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Arlington, VA understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

 Respite Care Arlington, VA

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Caregivers who work at assisted living communities can also provide medication administration and personal care services for older adults.

Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation
  • Personal Care
 Caregivers Arlington, VA

At Always Best Care, our representatives can match your senior's emotional, physical, and financial needs with viable assisted living communities nearby. Results are based on comparative data, so you can select the best choice for you or your loved one.

Always Best Care works closely with local senior living communities to gain valuable knowledge that we then use to help seniors and their loved ones make informed decisions. This information can include basic care and rent, resident availability, and services provided. Because Always Best Care is compensated by these communities, we provide senior living referral services at no extra cost to you.

Some of the most popular assisted living communities to consider in our area include the following:

  • Sunrise of Arlington
  • Vitality Living Arlington
  • Sunrise at Bluemont Park
  • Mary Marshall Assisted Living Residence
  • Morada Lake Arlington
  • Bethesda Gardens Assisted Living Arlington

The cost of charging an electric vehicle at an Arlington County station could increase in a few weeks.

County Board members are considering a proposal to increase rates from the current 17.46 cents per kilowatt-hour of electricity provided to 30 cents per kilowatt-hour. The roughly 72% increase would cover higher energy costs and help recoup capital costs.

Typical electric vehicles use somewhere between 25 and 60 kilowatt-hours per 100 miles.

“The proposed base fee is in line with the rates charged at government-owned stations in Fairfax County and Prince William County and remains below most commercial rates in the county and the region,” staff said in a memorandum to Board members.

The ordinance also gives the county manager and staff the power to adjust the fees based on changes to the Virginia Energy Purchasing Governmental Association (VEPGA) rate schedule, which is how the county government is charged for its electricity consumption.

The county government offers 51 charging ports for the public, available at the following locations:

All use Level 2 chargers, which on average take seven to eight hours to fully charge passenger vehicles, according to one estimate.

County officials said 2026 is on track to have the highest use of chargers since the program was introduced in 2022, with January-to-June use running at 65% of the total 2025 annual use.

The typical utilization rate for the county’s equipment is 20%, which county officials say is above the national average.

Board members are also being asked to reduce the hours during which a “dwell fee” is charged to drivers beginning 15 minutes after a charging session ends.

Currently, the rate of $3 per hour is imposed throughout the day, but under the planned amendment it would be discontinued between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. That would allow drivers to keep their vehicles in EV-charging spaces overnight without accruing further costs.

The proposed ordinance revision is part of the Board’s consent agenda for the Oct. 17 meeting. If a Board member wishes to discuss the proposal or a community member seeks to testify on it, the discussion and a final vote will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Arlington leaders will soon consider five neighborhood projects and begin reviewing zoning changes aimed at expanding affordable housing.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County leaders will consider spending more than $4.2 million on neighborhood improvements, including new sidewalks, streetlights and pedestrian safety upgrades, while also weighing changes to zoning rules that could make it easier for churches and nonprofits to develop affordable housing.

The proposals are among the items scheduled for the Arlington County Board's meeting Saturday, Oct. 17, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The board will consider approving $4.264 million for five projects recommended by the Arlington Neighborhood Advisory Committee through the Arlington Neighborhoods Program.

The proposed improvements would affect several neighborhoods:

County officials said the street improvements are intended to make neighborhoods safer and more accessible for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.

The Douglas Park and Clarendon-Courthouse projects would improve sidewalk connections and pedestrian crossings, while the Penrose improvements would increase nighttime visibility.

The board must approve the funding before the projects can move forward.

The board will also consider beginning the process of updating Arlington's zoning ordinance to comply with recently adopted Virginia legislation intended to make it easier for religious organizations and nonprofits to develop affordable housing on property they own.

The legislation, House Bill 1279 and Senate Bill 388, allows qualifying affordable housing projects on properties owned by religious organizations and 501(c)(3) nonprofits to receive administrative approval, also known as by-right approval.

That means qualifying projects could move through an administrative approval process rather than requiring the same discretionary zoning approvals that other developments may need.

Saturday's proposal would not immediately change Arlington's zoning rules or approve any housing developments.

Instead, the board would consider adopting a resolution allowing county staff to begin studying and drafting potential amendments.

The resolution is also intended to comply with a 2024 Arlington County District Court opinion requiring the county to formally initiate work on zoning amendments before advertising proposed changes.

County officials emphasized that beginning the process does not guarantee the board will ultimately adopt the amendments.

The Arlington County Board's regular meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Bozman Government Center, 2100 Clarendon Blvd.

Residents can attend in person, watch the meeting online or participate virtually through Microsoft Teams.

Submit written comments to [email protected]. Residents who want to speak during the meeting can register through the county's website or contact the County Board Office at 703-228-3130.

The board will also hold a recessed meeting on Oct. 20 at 3 p.m. to review Arlington's proposed legislative priorities for the 2027 Virginia General Assembly session.
