Car washes, eateries, hotel and more are on the horizon for the city of Reedley as building projects come to fruition
REEDLEY – If all goes as planned, soon, Reedley residents will have no excuse for operating a dirty vehicle.
Two new car washes are coming online for the World’s Fruit Basket. A Surf Thru Express Car Wash is under construction at Reed Avenue at the traffic circle. The second wash – Mister Car Wash – is one a dozen new businesses planned at the Manning and I Street site.
“Yes,” said Reedley Community Development Directory Rodney Horton, “Reedley will be getting two car washes within a stone’s throw of each other.”
Construction crews are grading the Manning and I Street location. Horton said the goal is to go vertical – start building, in layman’s terms – in a couple of months. The construction on Surf Thru is further along, with the building already framed at the rear of the location.
REEDLEY BUILDING BOOM
Reedley is experiencing a bit of a building boom. The Manning and I Street project – soon to be the Reedley Gateway Shopping Center – in addition to Mister Carwash, will include a yet-as-named hotel, a Dutch Brothers coffee, Mr. Mike’s Pizza, Chipotle, The Habit, Jersey Mikes, Xfinity outlet, Wingstop, Panda Express and a 7-11 with gas pumps.
Recently, Reedley residents have taken to social media to discuss what business(es) will occupy the vacant lot at the corner of Frankwood and South. Horton wants to quell rumors that another liquor store and a Me-n-Ed’s pizzeria will set up shop at the location.
“A medical building, at one end, and a market with gas pumps at the other,” said Horton. Horton added that the market chain has not yet been disclosed.
According to documents from the Community Development Department, Family HealthCare Network is building the 15,020-square-foot medical and dental facility. The center will have a total staff of 27, with 20 employees per shift. The center can accommodate 50 patients at a time.
No construction has started at the location.
As for the Surf Thru Express Car Wash, Reedley is just one of the Valley locations coming online. According to the company’s website, Fresno, Clovis, Sanger and Tulare are scheduled to have new sites.
Horton said he is excited about the new developments but had reservations.
“It’s great our community is growing,” he said. “Still, these things always come with concerns. But it’s exciting for Reedley.”
Reedley City Manager Nicole Zieba echoed Horton’s enthusiasm.
“Projects only break ground after a lot of planning and permitting,” said Zieba. “What you see right now is a bevy of projects that have been in the pipeline anywhere from a year to ten years. It’s coincidental that they are all coming together at the same time. It’s exciting to see.”
