VA Funded In-Home Care

Always Best Care Will Do All The Work Needed To Get Your Family Member The Funding They Deserve.

If you're like most folks living in the United States, chances are, someone in your family or someone you know has served time in the military. Veterans truly deserve our deepest love, support, and care. Yet, many of these selfless men and women experience feelings of isolation and struggle with everyday tasks like cooking, cleaning, and self-care. After all the hard work and bravery these soldiers dedicated to our country, they have earned the right to have a caregiver assist them with their daily needs.

Fortunately, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) offers a range of home care services tailored to support both Veterans and their family members. These services are carried out by trained in-home caregivers who visit clients daily to provide essential care. As a home care company that truly values our Veterans, we are proud to connect Veterans to expert franchise owners who can help them get the essential care they need.

If your loved one is a Veteran and needs Veterans community care funding in Palm Beach or funding for another VA home care program, know that we are here to help. All it takes is a call to Always Best Care to get started. From there, we'll put you in touch with a local Always Best Care franchise owner who will do all the work needed to get your family member the funding they deserve.

VA FUNDED In-HOME CARE

Qualifying for Always Best Care's VA Community Care Network (CCN)

The VACCN Homemaker/Home Health Aide & Respite Care is a benefit offered to Veterans who require assistance with activities associated with daily living. Homemakers and Home Health Aides, while not nurses themselves, are trained professionals who can provide support and care to Veterans in their own homes.

They are supervised by an Always Best Care registered nurse who assesses the Veteran's care needs and supervises each individual case.

“I have worked with, and explored working with, various agencies and registries in the Palm Beach County area. I am picky. Always Best Care is qualitatively a notch above every other organization I’ve encountered. Responsive. Amiable. Professional. The aide, Islande, who has worked with my mom is top-notch for our needs. And... I have no doubt Steve (the agency’s owner) and his staff would strive to find someone else, if it hadn’t been a fit.If you are looking for Nursing Care, I strongly recommend giving Always Best Care a chance.BTW: It is important to understand that working with an Nursing Agency (like Always Best Care), means the staff are employees, not independent contractors (as they are when working through a Nursing Registry). An Agency is vested in having good employees, and a good agency wants you to be happy. But even all Agencies are not created equal. I worked with one (Alternative Health Care) where aides did not always show up! That was painful and incredibly stressful, and the manager and other higher-up staff didn’t give a hoot.”

“We have been using Always Best Care for my mom for two years now and I am hear to say that they are the best we have been with. The Caregivers go above and beyond what we expect and treat my with nothing but love. Fran and Steve and Claudia are with us 24/7 everyday. It has been a real rollercoaster with my mom’s issues, but they are definitely our rock of support. Michelle, who is mom’s full time daytime caregiver has been with her since we started and she is like part of the family. She calls and checks on her off hours because she cares and there is no price you can put on that. If you do not try this agency, you are missing out.”

“Steve and Claudia at Always Best Care Senior Services were just awesome in how they provided at home care for my mother Carmen. Starting with the initial consultation by Steve to learn about mom's personal care needs to the follow-up visit of a registered nurse to the eventual placement of a compassionate caregiver; every step of their service was well thought out and they truly delivered on providing a level of care for mom that exceeded our families (and mom's) expectations. TESTIMONIALS

“I have been utilizing Always Best Care Senior Services for 2 years to care 24/7 for my elderly parents. I am very pleased with their services. The Owners and Office Staff bend over backwards to make sure that there is always coverage, to alert my parents Caregiver Team of any requests that I make, to advise me when there is an issue with my parents or their dog. The Caregiver Team working with my parents are all compassionate and caring, knowledgeable and skilled. Sadly, my Father passed away in the fall of 2020. Each of their Caregivers, the Owners and the Office Staff expressed to me that they would like to attend his memorial service when we are able to have it. During the weeks he was slipping away, the Caregiver team not only took care of my parents, they looked after me, gently reminding me to eat, rest or take a break. They truly care not only for my parents, but for all our family. I can’t begin to express what a comfort it has been to have them caring for my parents, especially during the pandemic when visits are prohibited. They are my eyes and ears. Working intimately with my parents, the Caregivers are very tuned in to even subtle changes. If you are in the market and looking for a senior services/home health care company, I strongly urge you to reach out to Always Best Care Senior Services. You’ll be happy you did.”

From the highest level administration (Stephen and Beverly) to the amazing caregivers and schedulers -- the entire staff have been responsive and attentive from day one. They have been unfailingly respectful, caring, professional and competent. They were flexible and kind when my mother became terminally ill. And readily available and again responsive when we reinitiated services for my father. Their attentiveness and professionalism is reflected in the amazingly kind, competent and resourceful caregiving staff. “Always Best Care has been wonderful in many ways. Steve Snell, Owner and Area Representative, and Beverly Casper, RN were patient, kind and respectful while my Dad came to terms with the idea that he really did need help. They were flexible and open and that made all the difference. My Dad's aide Fabienne is responsible and caring and now more of a companion than aide. Steve and his scheduling team has been proactive about any changes that needed to occur and very good about communicating with me both by phone and email. Having them on board has lessened the worry I feel on a daily basis. My mother had a prolonged illness and through the years we dealt with many health care agencies. The attention and care we have received from Always Best Care is, by far, the best we ever have experienced and we are very grateful to have found them.”

“Always Best Care was a life savor for my parents especially my Dad who is a former Veteran. Steve helped us reach out to the right contacts with the VA and was able to take us thru the process step by step to ensure that my Dad was able to get the most benefits possible to him which ended being about 32 hours of free home health care a week. The aids have been great for both of my parents. They have formed great relationships with Carol and Fred and now as of recently AnnMarie. The aids help getting groceries and picking up medication and also clean up around the house. They feel very cared for and have really turned the corner in feeling happier and well cared for. We are extremely grateful to Steve and his team at Always Best for working with us and ensuring my parents safety and well being! It's a great agency and all the workers who are part of this business!!”

THE Next Steps

How to Qualify for VA Funded In-Home Care

Whether you are a Veteran and need in-home care services or you're a family member of a Veteran, it's important to qualify for our VA Community Care Network. To qualify, consider the following:

  • Veterans must be honorably discharged. They do NOT need to be war-era Veterans
  • Veterans must sign up for VA Healthcare

You should be aware that any home care services that are authorized depend on you or your loved one's physician's assessment of needs.

How To Enroll In

Always Best Care's VA Community Care Network

Gaining access to VA senior care requires a three-step enrollment process. Those steps include the following:

First, request an Assessment for Community Care Network (CCN) services from your VA Physician. From there, the VA Physician will conduct an assessment and write an order accordingly (based on eligibility and needs). After that step, request that your VA Physician specifies which VA home care provider you would like to use, such as Always Best Care.

  • Thomas H Corey VA Medical Center

During this step, a Community Care Coordinator from the VA will contact you after the VA Physician writes your order. After making contact, the Community Care Coordinator will inform you of the type of care and quantity of hours per week authorized by the VA.

If you have not selected a specific provider, the Community Care Coordinator will provide options in your area. Once a Community Provider like Always Best Care is selected, the Community Care Coordinator will send the authorization to the selected Community Provider that you request.

Should you choose Always Best Care as your Community Care Provider, a home care claims manager will call you to arrange a care consultation, complete the intake paperwork, and schedule in-home care services. After the care consultation, the Community Care Provider performs a final assessment of your needs.

After the final assessment is complete, a Care Plan is created for you by the Community Provider. The Community Care Provider will arrange for a caregiver to come to your home for the number of authorized hours allowed each week.

Note: Veterans may choose their in-home care provider and are under NO OBLIGATION TO SELECT Always Best Care.

How Always Best Care Helps Veterans Obtain VA Funds

At Always Best Care Senior Services, we are dedicated to offering Veterans exceptional care and helping them secure the funding necessary for their services. The Always Best Care Veterans Assistance Program supports some of the nation's most deserving individuals in staying in their homes longer while enjoying a healthier and safer way of life.

  • Researching your unique situation and history so that we can help select which VA-funded home care program is the most beneficial.

That's why, when a Veteran is interested in Always Best Care's VA Community Care Network, our VA home care funding specialists manage all the paperwork and other hurdles that may prevent a senior Veteran from reaching out.

If you're unsure whether senior care paid for by the VA is right for you, keep reading to learn more about the programs offered.

Veterans Community Care Funding in Palm Beach, FL

As a Veteran, you may be eligible to get care outside the VA. This means the VA will pay for the cost of your care from a health care provider in their community care network. Long-term services offered within this program may include:

  • Help with Daily Tasks: Like meal prep, bathing, getting dressed, taking medicine, and cleaning the house.
  • Comfort and Companionship Care: An in-home caregiver can visit your home if you do not have family or loved ones nearby and help provide companionship services. Those services may include socialization, emotional support, and help staying independent in your home.
  • Support for Caregivers: If you are a caregiver or a Veteran who has a caregiver who needs to take a break for work or personal reasons, don't worry. The VA can provide assistance from a qualified in-home caregiver.

Veterans Aid and Attendance Funding in Palm Beach, FL

VA Aid and Attendance benefits offer additional monthly payments on top of a monthly VA pension for eligible Veterans and their survivors. If you require assistance with everyday tasks or are confined to your home, you might be eligible.

In order to qualify for this program, one or more of the following must be true:

  • You need another person to perform daily routines and activities like making food, dressing yourself, bathing, and going to the bathroom.
  • You are bedridden or spend a significant amount of time in bed due to an illness.
  • Your mental or physical abilities are compromised because of a disability, and you're a patient in a nursing home.
  • You have limited eyesight. This means that even with contact glasses or lenses, you only have 5/200 or less in both eyes. You may also qualify if you have concentric contraction of the visual field to 5 degrees or less.

Veterans Agent Orange Funding in Palm Beach, FL

Many U.S. Veterans returning from Vietnam began to report health issues almost right away, linking them to exposure to Agent Orange and dioxin. This connection sparked controversy from the outset and persists to this day. Veterans suffering from exposure to Agent Orange may be eligible for in-home care funding from Always Best Care.

One common misconception about this program is that Veterans must have served in Vietnam or were directly exposed to Agent Orange to qualify for funding. The truth is that a soldier DOES NOT need direct exposure to Agent Orange to benefit from quality in-home care.

However, to qualify for this type of funding, the Veteran must have served in the military when the government was using this harmful chemical herbicide. So long as you or your Veteran loved one served in the military during Agent Orange use, they may qualify - even if they did not serve in Vietnam.

The following cancers and illnesses are proven to have been caused by Agent Orange:

  • Hodgkin's Disease
  • Prostate Cancer
  • Respiratory Cancers
  • Bladder Cancer
  • Chronic B-Cell Leukemia
  • Diabetes Type 2
  • Parkinson's Disease
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Peripheral Neuropathy

Whether you served in Vietnam and were exposed to Agent Orange or you are a Veteran who served our country while the herbicide was used, you deserve personalized in-home care from expert caregivers. Unfortunately, securing VA funding for these services can be difficult - especially for older Veterans. That's why many soldiers contact Always Best Care for help.

Our franchise owners are experts when it comes to VA home care claims management in Palm Beach. When you call your local Always Best Care location, you can expect tailored service, expert guidance, and reliable help throughout the qualifying process.

VA Funded Home Care FAQs

The VA provides various programs that deliver both medical and non-medical home care services for eligible Veterans. These initiatives are part of the VA's home and community-based services. They're aimed at enhancing the well-being of Veterans facing chronic illnesses or service-related disabilities.

Non-medical home care encompasses services such as companionship, assistance with household tasks, and personal care. In contrast, home health care services focus on medical needs and include skilled nursing, medication management, and rehabilitative therapies.

The homemaker and home health aide program includes a trained caregiver visiting the Veteran's home to assist with daily household tasks, like grocery shopping or personal care. The frequency of the caregiver's visits can vary based on the Veteran's requirements, whether they need support daily or just occasionally. Veterans can keep receiving help as long as they need assistance with everyday activities. This program enables Veterans to remain in their homes instead of relocating to a nursing facility. It also supports family caregivers by alleviating their stress and physical demands.

The financial support provided by the VA for Veterans' home care can differ significantly depending on the program utilized by the Veteran, their disability status, and various other factors. In the case of spouses or family members of Veterans, the VA's payment for home care will be determined by their eligibility and the specific care requirements they have. Working with a VA home care funding specialist in Palm Beach may help Veterans and their families understand eligibility requirements. Working with an expert may also help to clarify how much the VA will pay for in-home care.

Possibly. Whether a spouse or surviving spouse qualifies depends on their specific circumstances and their ability to fulfill eligibility criteria. For instance, a surviving spouse who enters into a new marriage loses eligibility for TRICARE, which is the military's health insurance program. If a spouse or surviving spouse does not qualify for TRICARE, they might still have access to VA health care benefits through programs like The Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs (CHAMPVA).

Who's up for a late-night rocket launch? A rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida, is scheduled to lift off on the first night of Hanukkah 2025 this weekend.

SpaceX plans to send a Falcon 9 rocket carrying 29 Starlink internet satellites into low-Earth orbit on Sunday, Dec. 14.

Rockets here launch from NASA's Kennedy Space Center near Merritt Island, Florida, or Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, and people in and around Brevard County usually have the best chance at seeing this phenomenon in the sky.

Weather permitting and depending on cloud cover and trajectory, a rocket launch from Florida’s Space Coast is sometimes visible as far north as Jacksonville Beach and Daytona Beach and as far south as Vero Beach and West Palm Beach.

When there’s a nighttime launch window or very early morning, there’s an opportunity for unique photos — the rocket lights up the dark sky and the contrail after makes for a great photo.

Below is more information on the doubleheader rocket launches from Florida and suggestions on where to watch them in person (or virtually via the USA TODAY Network’s Space Team).

Live weather radar: Will it rain in Melbourne, Cocoa Beach or Cape Canaveral, Florida, today? Will weather cancel a rocket launch?

Shown is the National Weather Service-Melbourne radar, which shows conditions in real-time for the Space Coast, Brevard County, Orlando and other parts of Florida. The current date and time show up on the bottom right of this radar embed; otherwise, you may need to clear your cache.

Where to see a Florida rocket launch in Palm Beach County. What does a West Palm Beach rocket launch view look like?

Weather permitting and depending on cloud cover, some rocket launches from the Space Coast can be visible in Palm Beach County.

When there’s a launch window in the middle of the night or very early morning, with a southeast trajectory, there’s an opportunity for unique photos. Some examples include United Launch Alliance's Delta IV Heavy rocket launch and SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket.

From Cape Canaveral, Florida, to West Palm Beach, Florida, it's about 150 miles.

In October 2025, the SpaceX Starship rocket, the world's largest, launched from Starbase, Texas, and was spotted in parts of Palm Beach County, Florida, shortly after liftoff. Starbase, headquarters for SpaceX in South Texas, is about 1,500 miles away from this part of Florida.

Rocket launches from Cape Canaveral can often be seen from Palm Beach County, and it can be as easy as walking out of your house and looking north. Try to get away from any obstructions, such as trees, tall buildings, and bright lights. Obviously, cloud cover can also get in the way.

If the forecast is for clear skies and you want a better view, some good places to watch the rocket launch from Palm Beach County include:

The Geminids, one of the last meteor showers of the year, is also considered one of the best.

And it's about to hit its peak 2025 activity.

Bright shooting stars – from the Quadrantids in January to the Leonids in November – may regularly fill the skies throughout each year. But the Geminid meteor shower is one stargazers have likely had circled on their calendars.

That's because the Geminids are widely considered to be the cream of the crop. The cosmic display is famed for its strong, bright and colorful fireballs that blaze across the sky at speeds reaching about 120 miles per second.

Could the moon or clouds spoil this year's view of the Geminids in 2025 in Florida? Here's everything to know about the Geminid meteor shower, its impending peak and where you can best see them around the state.

What to know about December peak of Geminids

When is the Geminid meteor shower?

The Geminid meteor shower already became active in 2025 beginning Dec. 4, and is expected to remain so until at least Dec. 17, according to the American Meteor Society.

Geminid meteor shower 2025: Here's when, what time, activity peaks

In 2025, the Leonid meteor shower is set to peak between Saturday, Dec. 13, and Sunday, Dec. 14, according to the Planetary Society.

The best time to see meteors are typically between midnight and pre-dawn hours. However, the Geminids are considered to be one of the best opportunities for young stargazers since the shower can start as early as 9 p.m. locally, according to NASA.

Visit the website TimeAndDate.com to find the best times and viewing directions for your location.

How many meteors will be visible? What to know about shower rate

When the Geminids are most active, stargazers have the opportunity to witness a dizzying 120 meteors per hour under the right weather conditions.

But it's not just the quantity of meteors that the Geminids put out that make them famous, but also the quality. The meteors produced by the Geminids' parent asteroid have a reputation for being colorful, sometimes appearing as yellowish streaks.

While it is now one of the year's strongest meteor showers, the Geminids didn't start out that way, according to NASA. When the shower first began appearing in the mid-1800s, only 10 to 20 meteors could be seen per hour.

Could the moon interfere with Geminids?

In 2025, the moon will be 30% full and in a waning crescent phase during the peak of the Geminid meteors. The moon will rise by 2 a.m. local time, after which spectators can still have success spotting meteors by facing west to keep the moon and its light at their backs, according to the American Meteor Society.

Weather, cloud forecast for Florida for meteor shower

Of course, clouds in the sky could hamper the views.

The National Weather Service shared a graphic showing clouds in the forecast for southern Florida, including Palm Beach, on the first night of peak activity – as indicated by the gray shading. Fortunately, the second night is forecasted to have clear skies, as indicated by the blue shading and low percentage numbers.

How to watch Geminids: Tips for seeing streaking meteors

The Geminids are named after the constellation Gemini because the meteors seem to emerge – or radiate – from the same area in the sky.

But astronomers caution that the radiant is not a good guide for where stargazers should look to view the zipping meteors, which should be visible across the night sky around the globe.

Here are some general viewing tips from NASA:

It should take less than 30 minutes for your eyes to adapt so that you can see streaking meteors.

Where are dark sky locations in Florida?

Want to find a dark area near you? DarkSky International is a U.S nonprofit that maintains a list of designated dark sky communities around the world, including 165 in the United States.

That includes these three locations in Florida:

What causes the Geminids? Are meteor showers 'shooting stars?'

Meteor showers occur when Earth passes through dusty debris trails left by comets and other space objects as they orbit the sun.

The debris – space rocks known as meteoroids – collides with Earth's atmosphere at high speed and disintegrates, creating fiery and colorful streaks in the sky, according to NASA.

Those resulting fireballs, better known as "shooting stars," are meteors. If meteoroids survive their trip to Earth without burning up in the atmosphere, they are called meteorites, NASA says.

Unlike most meteor showers, the Geminid meteor shower doesn't originate from a comet, but from an asteroid.

Astronomers theorize that the asteroid, 3200 Phaethon, could be what's known as a "dead comet" or "rock comet" that it just a rocky core, having lost all its ices and gases that give the space rocks their signatures tails, according to NASA. The small asteroid, which is little more than 3 miles in diameter, approaches so close to the sun that it was named for the son of the sun-god Helios, who in Greek mythology lost control of his father's chariot and set the Earth ablaze.

WEST PALM BEACH, FL — Max Ayoub and business partner Gus Lange are bringing a classic New York boil-and-bake bagel shop to downtown West Palm Beach next year. Ayoub told Business Debut the first location of 212 Bagel Co. will open at 527 Clematis St, West Palm Beach, FL 33401, with the team targeting a June 2026 debut.

Ayoub, who prefers to go by Max, said the concept is rooted in Brooklyn, where he spent years working for the bagel manufacturer and shop Baked in Brooklyn. “I tried every bagel spot from Miami to Boca and couldn’t find anything close to the real thing,” he told Business Debut. “That’s when it hit me, I should bring a true New York bagel to Florida.”

What to Expect

212 Bagel Co. will operate as a fast-casual shop with about 16 seats and a space layout designed primarily for production. Roughly 80 percent of the footprint will serve the wholesale kitchen, where Ayoub and Lange plan to manufacture bagels for hotels and cafés across Florida. Retail guests will find a small dine-in area and counter service built around a straightforward, classic menu.

Menu and Vision

Ayoub emphasized a focus on fundamentals rather than variety. The shop will offer plain dough bagels only, each topped with classic seeds such as everything, sesame, and salt. Cream cheeses will be limited to a handful of high-quality staples, and breakfast and lunch sandwiches will all be served on bagels.

His personal favorites include a plain bagel with scallion cream cheese and a bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel. “We’re keeping it classic and focused so we can perfect the bagel,” he told Business Debut.

At night on Fridays and Saturdays, the shop will reopen for late-night service, offering pizza bagels and specialty breakfast sandwiches for the nearby bar crowd.

Ownership and Story

Ayoub credits much of the business direction to Lange, whose family lives in Palm Beach. The partners originally considered Miami but ultimately chose Palm Beach after recognizing the lack of high-quality bagel shops in the market. “Why don’t you open up in Palm Beach? Let’s do it together,” Lange advised, a suggestion that shaped the brand’s first location.

The Name

The name 212 Bagel Co. is a nod to the original New York City area code. A detail Ayoub says many Floridians may not realize. “It really represents where the bagel comes from,” he said.

Opening Timeline

The shop is targeting a June 2026 opening.

Hours

7 a.m. — 3 p.m. daily, with additional weekend hours Friday and Saturday from 9 p.m. — 12 a.m.
