HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- A North Carolina man who said he doesn't purchase Powerball tickets often is shaking all the way to the bank.
"I usually only buy them when the jackpot gets big. I know it hasn't been this big since last year."
After noticing the high jackpot, Chad McLamb told NC Education Lottery (NCEL) officials that he decided to try his luck and bought a ticket on Monday, Aug. 25.
And McLamb's ticket turned out to be worth a $150,000 prize of the $750 million estimated jackpot.
Upon learning his ticket's worth, "I was shaking," McLamb said.
He bought his lucky $3 Quick Pick ticket in Harnett County from Bass Country Store on N.C. 27 East in the Coats community.
"This is perfect timing for us. It'll make everything a lot more comfortable," McLamb says.
His ticket matched the numbers on four white balls and the red Powerball to win $50,000. Because he bought a Power Play ticket, his prize tripled to $150,000 when the 3X multiplier hit.
McLamb claimed his winnings Thursday and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $107,626.

He told NCEL he plans to do some home renovations and buy a car.
The winning numbers on Monday, Aug. 25, were: 16-19-34-37-64, and the Powerball was 22. The Power Play was 3X.

How NCEL helps school districts
According to the North Carolina Education Lottery, Harnett County received a $10 million state grant, with money raised by the lottery, to help build a new elementary school.
