After all, senior citizens in the U.S. have worked tirelessly to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise families.

What is Non-Medical Senior Care in Houston, TX?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. So, if you've always wanted to eat at the local Mastro's Steakhouse or visit Sam Houston Park, don't feel bad. Doing so is great for both you and your loved one.

At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

If you have been on the fence about non-medical home care, there has never been a better time than now to give your senior the care, assistance, and companionship they deserve.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Houston, TX, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your TX's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.
 Senior Care Houston, TX

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Houston, TX understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

 Respite Care Houston, TX

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Caregivers who work at assisted living communities can also provide medication administration and personal care services for older adults.

Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation
  • Personal Care
 Caregivers Houston, TX

At Always Best Care, our representatives can match your senior's emotional, physical, and financial needs with viable assisted living communities nearby. Results are based on comparative data, so you can select the best choice for you or your loved one.

Always Best Care works closely with local senior living communities to gain valuable knowledge that we then use to help seniors and their loved ones make informed decisions. This information can include basic care and rent, resident availability, and services provided. Because Always Best Care is compensated by these communities, we provide senior living referral services at no extra cost to you.

Some of the most popular assisted living communities to consider in our area include the following:

  • The Village of River Oaks
  • The Shores at Clear Lake
  • Senior Living Specialists Houston
  • Clearwater at The Heights
  • Cypress Assisted Living CyFair
  • Belmont Village Senior Living West University

For many seniors, moving into a senior living community revolves around how and when they want to make a transition to more involved care. New State-of-the-Art Facility Will Create Nearly 500 Skilled Jobs and Accelerate the Delivery of Next-Generation Medicines

Investment Furthers BMS’ $40 Billion Commitment to American Innovation, Manufacturing and Economic Growth

PRINCETON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Bristol Myers Squibb (NYSE:BMY) today announced the selection of Houston, Texas, as the site for a new, state-of-the-art multi-modal manufacturing campus, representing an approximately $2.3 billion investment designed to accelerate the delivery of next-generation medicines to patients. The campus, at Generation Park in Houston, will create nearly 500 skilled jobs and is designed to grow in scale, capability and workforce for decades to come.

Rendering of Bristol Myers Squibb's planned $2.3 billion state-of-the-art manufacturing campus in Houston, Texas.

The selection of Houston marks a significant milestone in BMS’ $40 billion commitment to invest in the United States over five years across research and development, technology and domestic manufacturing.

From day one, the Houston campus will be modular and multi-modal. Its modular design allows BMS to add and reconfigure manufacturing capacity as needed, reflecting BMS' current and future pipeline. Its multi-modal capabilities allow BMS to manufacture multiple types of medicines - such as small molecules, biologics, and antibody-drug conjugates - across a range of disease areas, supporting drug product and finished goods manufacturing from late development through launch. This flexibility ensures the campus can evolve to meet patient needs well into the future.

"This investment reflects our confidence in America's continued leadership in biopharmaceutical innovation,” said Christopher Boerner, Ph.D., Board Chair and CEO of Bristol Myers Squibb. “As part of our $40 billion commitment to the United States, we're building the domestic manufacturing capabilities needed to deliver the next generation of medicines and support future scientific breakthroughs. Houston and the state of Texas offer the talent, infrastructure, and partnership needed to help bring that vision to life."

“Texas is a global hub for life sciences, where today’s innovations shape the future of healthcare,” said Texas Governor Greg Abbott. “This $2.3 billion investment by Bristol Myers Squibb in the dynamic biotech ecosystem in Houston is a testament to the depth of our skilled workforce and the pipeline of talent coming through our nation-leading technical colleges and research universities. With lower operating costs and easy access to markets across the U.S. and the world, Texas drives affordability for consumers.”

"We are making pharmaceuticals in America again thanks to President Trump’s America First Trade Agenda,” said U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick. “Bristol Myers Squibb’s $2.3 billion investment in Texas will create hundreds of high-paying jobs and strengthen our pharmaceutical supply chains, ensuring America is never reliant on foreign sources for critical medicines.”

"Our decision to build this state-of-the-art manufacturing campus in Houston, Texas, reflects our confidence in the region’s ability to support a world-class, digitally advanced supply operation,” said Karin Shanahan, EVP, Chief Supply Chain and Operations Officer of Bristol Myers Squibb. “This facility is designed to deliver the speed, quality, and reliability that patients depend on, combining flexible, modular manufacturing with advanced digital capabilities to ensure consistent supply across multiple modalities. It strengthens our ability to operate with resilience and positions us to reliably deliver medicines to patients today while adapting future demands.”

Built to Grow, Adapt, and Scale Bristol Myers Squibb’s approximately 600,000 square foot manufacturing campus in Houston, Texas will be a modular, multi-modal campus designed for flexibility and long-term growth. Its architecture allows new manufacturing capabilities to be brought online rapidly as pipeline and commercial needs evolve. The campus is also built for adaptability, with configuration flexibility that anticipates future advances in digital integration and automation, ensuring the site remains at the frontier of biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing technology as capabilities continue to evolve. BMS envisions this site growing in scale and capability well beyond its opening configuration.

Strengthening American Biopharmaceutical Leadership This campus is a statement of confidence in American workers, American infrastructure and the nation's ability to lead the world in biopharmaceutical innovation. Texas's pro-business environment, commitment to economic development and growing life sciences ecosystem make it an ideal home for an investment of this scale and ambition. The U.S. biopharmaceutical industry drives nearly $117 billion of research annually and employs more than 300,000 manufacturing employees. BMS’ investment strengthens that foundation, reinforcing American pharmaceutical supply chain resilience and supporting U.S. leadership in biopharmaceutical innovation. BMS invested approximately $10 billion in research and development in 2025, fueling the next wave of new medicines.

The U.S. biopharmaceutical industry directly employed more than one million workers in 2022, and with its substantial employment multiplier of 4.69, the industry supports more than 3.8 million additional U.S. jobs for a total employment impact of more than 4.9 million jobs supported across the U.S. economy.

Through this investment, BMS will expand its domestic manufacturing capabilities and establish a digitally advanced campus that embeds speed, quality and resilience into every stage of how medicines are made and delivered to patients. The Houston campus converts BMS’ domestic investment strategy into jobs, infrastructure and manufacturing capacity in Texas.

Commitment to Texas and Its Communities BMS selected Texas and Generation Park following an extensive, competitive evaluation of multiple markets in the Central and Eastern U.S. Key factors in this decision included the emerging strength of the local workforce in life sciences, available incentives, proximity to utilities and transportation infrastructure, and an overall business climate conducive to long-term growth.

At 4,300 acres, Generation Park is a curated hub for life sciences and advanced manufacturing. The new BMS campus is projected to employ nearly 500 people initially, with roles spanning operations technicians, production specialists, maintenance and engineering professionals, quality control and assurance experts, and site leadership and administration. These are skilled, well-paying, long-term jobs across a wide range of career pathways.

BMS also expects to create approximately 2,000 construction and other indirect jobs between 2027–2030 as the facility is built and brought online, supporting the local economy throughout the construction period.

A campus of this scale generates sustained economic activity well beyond its direct workforce, supporting construction trades, engineering and technical service providers, logistics and distribution partners, and the full breadth of local businesses and suppliers that support a major industrial campus.

BMS will continue to build and grow our commitment to Texas. The company currently works with a Contract Manufacturer in Texas for both commercial and clinical trial manufacturing and, in 2025, had 250 clinical trial sites throughout the state to advance clinical research across its portfolio.

For BMS, this is a long-term commitment to the employees who will build careers here, the communities that will grow around this campus, and the patients who will one day depend on the medicines made within it.

About Bristol Myers Squibb: Transforming Patients’ Lives Through Science At Bristol Myers Squibb, our mission is to discover, develop and deliver innovative medicines that help patients prevail over serious diseases. We are pursuing bold science to define what’s possible for the future of medicine and the patients we serve. The Frank Liu Jr. Academy for Music and Arts (FLAMA) is an adaptive reuse of Houston’s historic 1930s J. A. Folger & Co. coffee plant, reimagined as a contemporary school rooted in music, art, and community. Located along the Buffalo Bayou East corridor, directly across from the future Turkey Bend development, the project transforms an industrial landmark into a vibrant educational environment that is deeply local and forward-looking.

Organized as a three-story learning landscape, the school is structured to reflect the developmental growth of students, with younger ages at the base and older students progressing upward. The design draws from Montessori principles, prioritizing openness, independence, and collective learning through a series of shared “neighborhoods.” Each floor is anchored by two central gathering areas, or “cymbals,” around which classrooms and programs are arranged.

These commons support everyday gathering, movement, display, study, and performance, allowing students to grow through the building as they progress through the school.Music is embedded throughout the architecture, made visible along the public route, and expressed spatially through a sequence of shared learning environments. At the ground level, the youngest students share an intimate common area designed for breakout play, movement, and drum circles, supporting the Montessori emphasis on gross motor development and everyday gathering. Nearby, grades 1 and 2 gather around a larger open space animated by a figural stair whose form recalls the curve of a French horn, supporting informal congregation and early performances.

On the upper floors, the commons evolve into more focused environments for reading, collaboration, and independent study. Grades 3 through 5 share an open library with flexible furniture that allows the space to shift between group study, project work, and after-school activities. Directly above, grades 6 through 8 occupy a second library commons with more concentrated study areas. The two libraries are connected by an f-shaped floor opening, referencing the forte symbol and FLAMA itself, while also recalling the f-hole of a string instrument.

This gesture transforms the interior experience into something resonant and instrument-like, with learning spaces connected across floors through light and sound.

At the heart of FLAMA, a double height cafetorium brings together the full student body and supports daily lunches, assemblies, and special performances. Defined by a large circular opening and a curved auditorium stair, the space recalls the body of a banjo and allows the everyday life of the school to expand into performance.

A key challenge in converting the industrial structure into a school was access to daylight. The design resolves this by placing all classrooms along the building perimeter, ensuring direct exposure to natural light, while central common areas are illuminated by newly introduced circular skylights. Together, these strategies create an environment that is at once rigorous and playful, structured, and expressive.

The school is entered through a private landscaped courtyard, where the historic industrial facade takes on a more playful and child-oriented expression. Along the public street frontages, the original muntin windows are carefully restored and upgraded to meet contemporary energy standards, preserving the character of the former coffee plant. Within the courtyard, this historic language is reinterpreted through colorful primary geometries that establish a new vocabulary of window divisions, transforming the familiar rhythm of industrial glazing into a more expressive facade for learning.

FLAMA positions education as a shared cultural experience, where learning, making, and performing are intertwined within a spatial framework that encourages students to grow organically through both curriculum and architecture.

It’s not often you walk into a restaurant to pick up your takeout and watch it slide down a conveyor belt to the counter. Then again, Aga’s Restaurant and Catering in Houston is not your average restaurant. To begin with, the Indian-Pakistani outpost is 16,000 plus-square-feet (yes, everything is bigger in Texas).

The massive size even impressed my Uber driver, a Houston resident of about 30 years who had never been to—or heard of—the restaurant, despite it earning the number one spot on the “Top 100 Restaurants of 2025” list (and being recently featured in , too). To be fair, it’s located a good 30 minutes from downtown Houston, heading toward Sugar Land, Texas.

At 8:30 pm on a Saturday, my driver struggled to find a drop-off spot as the parking lot overflowed with cars—no surprise given the crowds gathered outside waiting for a table, a mix of multigenerational families with kids anxious to eat but also groups of 20-something men in soccer jerseys anticipating when their name might be called. Like the city of Houston itself, the crowd was diverse, filled with both hijabs and cowboy hats.

I snaked my way to the host stand (manned by two women with an iPad, a microphone, and kind smiles) and was quoted an hour and 15 minute wait for a table. I decided to do what apparently so many others do at Aga’s: get my order to go.

Business Insider recently reported that Aga’s is Uber Eats’ busiest single-location restaurant in the world. Hence the conveyor belt. I suppose I had bucked the norm, ditching the app in favor of placing my order for chicken biryani in person, which gave me a 15-minute wait to take in the behemoth. Little did I know that Aga’s has an entire call center set up for fielding direct orders, too.

“It’s about two miles away from the restaurant,” says owner Shaukat Maredia. “[There] we have people taking calls, managing all of the takeout orders. On weekdays, we have two or three people; on the weekend, four or five people.” This way constant calls don’t compete with customers at the restaurant for service or attention.

In the stanchion-lined waiting area, a steady stream of delivery drivers grab countless red-and-white plastic bags of food, including mango lassis carefully secured for transport. Harried kitchen staff ferried stacked dish racks back and forth from the front to the back of the house.

One staff member manned the door, swinging it open what seemed like every 30 seconds for a departing or arriving customer. A tray balanced on a server’s shoulder passed by with dozens of bright red chicken lollipops, an Indian appetizer made with frenched chicken wings.

Aga’s serves over 5,000 people every day, according to Maredia (takeout and dine-in), which is both staggering and totally believable once you see the operation in person. But it wasn’t always this way.

The restaurant began under different ownership in 2001, and it wasn’t until November 1, 2010, that Maredia and his siblings acquired Aga’s.

“I didn’t have any restaurant background,” he notes and when asked why he wanted to purchase the business, he laughs. “It was not my idea. I was completely against it. But my brother wanted it.” Given the shape it was in, you could understand his hesitancy.

“There was nothing going right there. It was a struggling restaurant. It was losing money,” he says. Maredia and his family began updating the place, from expanding the Pakistani menu to include Indian dishes, to upgrading the bathrooms and training new staff. Still, they took a huge loss the first two years of ownership.

Today, the thriving restaurant has over 200 employees, including 10 chefs, and just had their best September ever—no small feat in this particularly difficult restaurant climate. Although takeout was always available at Aga’s, it really took off in 2020.

“Our takeout business before COVID? It was pretty good. But when COVID hit, we had to quickly adjust our kitchen. We made it more takeout friendly. We added more equipment. We added more people to manage packing,” he says. This is also when the conveyor belt was installed.

Soon, my order was sliding down the belt, and I retreated back to my hotel with the hot biryani in my lap. Inside the familiar black plastic container I found a confetti-like mix of yellow, orange, and white perfectly tender rice grains, studded with whole cloves and cardamom pods. Juicy pieces of both white and dark meat chicken awaited under the top layer of rice. Each aromatic bite ended with a gentle, lingering heat, neither mild nor excessive.

It’s easy to see why Aga’s has the loyal following it does, and why Maredia recently added a second to-go location in Katy, Texas. He says another location “up north” is in the works, and that he’s also looking into expanding into Dallas and Austin.

Maredia credits this success to the local community, which the restaurant in turn gives back to, including each year through college scholarships for high school seniors.

“In 2026, we gave out 35 scholarships of an average of $5,000 each,” he says. Additionally, Maredia is working on profit-sharing for employees, so they too can benefit from Aga’s popularity, especially as it expands.

“We reinvest in our community. We want to make our community better. We want to lead,” he says. “We want to be an example for those kids who’re going to be in college and become a leader tomorrow, so that they can pay it forward and make communities better.”

Gulf moisture returns: Here’s when Southeast Texas could see storms this week

Over the past few days, light northeasterly winds have brought dry air into Southeast Texas, lowering humidity and cooling morning temperatures. However, the wind is about to shift back to the south, bringing high levels of atmospheric moisture back into the region.

The rising moisture will significantly increase humidity. Heat index values will exceed 100 degrees this week, a rarity for mid-October. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will also become possible, though rainfall totals will likely stay light. Here’s what you can expect.

Sunday’s forecast

Before the heat arrives this week, Sunday will be the most pleasant day to be outside. Morning temperatures will sit comfortably in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees under mostly clear skies. Temps will rise steadily, likely reaching 80 degrees as early as 10 a.m. before high temps top out in the low 90s.

Scattered clouds are expected in the afternoon, but no rain is expected. Winds will be breezy, 10 to 15 mph, with some gusts over 20 mph. These southerly winds will also transport high amounts of atmospheric moisture into the region, which will become more noticeable by the start of the work week.

Comfortable weather is expected to continue Sunday evening, as temperatures hover in the 80s through 8 to 9 p.m. Overnight lows will fall into the low 70s, staying slightly warmer than the past few nights.

High heat and scattered storms

Atmospheric moisture will continue to rise each day this week, bringing brutal humidity. On Monday, High temperatures will once again reach the low 90s, but with heat index values rising as high as 99 degrees. Tuesday and Wednesday will be even warmer, with heat index values as high as 103 degrees.

Overnight lows won’t cool off much, only dropping into the upper 70s on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

The increased moisture will also bring scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially as the seabreeze develops each afternoon. Houston’s rain chances will be near 30% on Monday, rising to around 40% on Tuesday and Wednesday. The scattered nature of this activity will limit rainfall totals, with most areas likely to see less than a half-inch of rain throughout the week.

A possible cold front coming?

As a low-pressure system moves across the central and northern U.S., a cold front is likely to move through Texas by the end of the week. While timing remains uncertain, the front is most likely to move through Houston by late Friday or early Saturday.

The strength of the cold front also remains uncertain. However, it could bring fall air back into the region. High temperatures could fall into the 70s by next weekend, with lows in the 50s and 60s.

Additionally, the front may bring a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms, some of which could be strong. Houston will have about a 30% to 40% chance of storms on Friday, before drier air likely moves in behind the front over the weekend.

HOUSTON - Houston Texans coach DeMeco Ryans ended his postgame news conference following their win on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, announcing that the team acquired wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. from the Arizona Cardinals.

What we know:

The Texans sent Arizona 2027 second- and sixth-round draft picks for former first-round pick Marvin Harrison Jr and a 2027 seventh-round selection, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Ryans announced the trade shortly after the Texans defeated the Titans 26-3 for their first victory of the season. Quarterback C.J. Stroud completed 26 of 34 passes for 261 yards and scored two touchdowns.

Harrison was inactive for the Cardinals’ game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday as the trade was being completed.

The backstory:

Harrison and Stroud were teammates at Ohio State from 2021-22. Both were All-Americans in 2022, and the Texans hope their reunion can help Harrison reach the potential that made him the No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft.

The 24-year-old Harrison had five catches for 85 yards and a touchdown on 12 targets through four games this season. He was the fifth-most-targeted player in Arizona’s offense.

Dig deeper:

Harrison is scheduled to make $4 million this season and $5.62 million in 2027. His $22.5 million signing bonus was already paid by Arizona. The Texans also will have to decide whether to exercise his fifth-year option during the offseason.

The trade comes as Houston tries to recover from a 1-4 start. The Texans’ victory over Tennessee and the addition of Harrison give the team hope that the season can be turned around.
