With new information coming to light for the investigation into Clinton High School, we're laying out all the information we know so far.
CLINTON, Tennessee — It's been over a year since Anderson County Schools opened an investigation into Clinton High School over potential grade changing, and a former guidance counselor at the school was charged in connection with the investigation on Tuesday.
According to Sheriff Russel Barker with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, Carrie Jenkins was arrested and bonded out on the same day.
A statement was released on Tuesday evening from Jenkins' attorney. The full statement can be found below.
“Mrs. Jenkins is an upstanding and dedicated community member of Clinton. She has lived here her entire life and has invested more than 20 years in the school system. She is a loving mother, supportive wife and friend and proud to call Clinton her home. We absolutely refute the alleged charges against Mrs. Jenkins and look forward to clearing her name. We welcome transparency through this process as more details emerge.”
She was charged with two counts of destruction/tampering with government records.

On May 8, 2025, former teacher and assistant baseball coach Clay Turpin was charged with 24 counts of tampering with/destroying government documents. Turpin bailed out of jail on May 9, 2025.
Former Clinton High educator Carrie Jenkins also had pending warrants in connection with the case, her attorneys met with District Attorney General Dave Clark on Tuesday, with her later turning herself in.
At an Anderson County School Board meeting from July 11, 2024, Director of Schools Tim Parrott laid out a timeline of the investigation:
Many community members pushed back against the investigation and said staff members were being blamed for the board's failures.
"The impropriety, the unprofessionalism of the way that this has been handled after well-meaning educators is suspect. We don't trust this school system," said Courtney Atnip, a community member. "We are asking the state to come and intervene. We are asking for their help."
The District Attorney's office is currently working on the case as well as the State Comptroller's office, according to ACSO.
When asked if they were investigating the case, the state office said, "The Comptroller's Office has broad authority to review activities within public high schools including Clinton High School. It is our policy to not comment further."
