Fall is the perfect time to visit Enchanted Valley Acres in Cross Plains, Wisconsin. From giant slides and corn mazes to pumpkins, farm activities and plenty of outdoor fun, the family-friendly destination offers something for all ages.

September: Saturdays and Sundays beginning September 12 October: Fridays beginning October 9, Saturdays and Sundays, plus Thursday, October 29 November: Sunday, November 1
Enchanted Valley Acres is located at 5047 Enchanted Valley Road in Cross Plains, just north of Madison.
Take a ride down the two famous giant slides or challenge the family to find their way through more than 8 acres of corn mazes. The corn mazes are included with general admission.
The 1937 Big Red Barn is home to a large family play area filled with activities. Kids can enjoy slides, wagon rides, obstacle courses, giant games, trike tracks, tire swings, animal-themed activities, jumping pads and more.
There are also activities such as pumpkin bowling, tractor pulls, tetherball, giant building blocks, hay bale activities and plenty of opportunities for kids to run and play.
Pick out the perfect pumpkin at Enchanted Valley Acres. Families can choose their own pumpkin or select from pumpkins that have already been picked.
Pumpkins start at $1.50 each. Ornamental corn shocks, squash, pony bales and hay bales are also available.
Admission is not required to visit the pumpkin patch and purchase pumpkins.
The sunflower and zinnia experience is included with general admission. Visitors can walk through the flower rows and take photos. Fresh flowers can also be cut to take home for an additional charge, depending on the vase selected.
Flower availability depends on the weather and first frost.
The Farm Food Truck is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and offers outdoor seating. Menu items include:
Additional food trucks will visit throughout the season, including Kona Ice of Madison, Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee, Steve’s Tacos, Morales Food Truck and Taco El Pechu. Food truck schedules vary by date.
Guests may also bring their own food and drinks. Alcohol and glass containers are not permitted.
For the first time in 2026, Enchanted Valley Acres will welcome dogs on two special dates: October 31 and November 1.
Dogs must remain leashed and under their owner’s control, and current vaccinations are required. A waiver must be completed when purchasing tickets. Dogs are not permitted on slides, jump pads, near farm animals or in restricted areas.
Dog admission is $10, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting a nonprofit.
Pets are not permitted during the regular fall season outside of the October 31 and November 1 Paws & Pumpkins dates.
General admission includes all activities except Gemstone Mining and Egg Excavation, which have an additional fee.
Children ages 2 and under are free.
Advance ticket purchase is recommended, especially for popular fall dates. Tickets are also available at the gate, but admission may sell out.

This was our very first visit to Indian Lake. With so many cars in the parking lot, we thought it was going to be a crowded experience; but to our surprise, we saw that there was so much room for everyone to spread out and enjoy. We learned that Indian Lake is over 500 acres and is one of the largest parks in Dane County.
The park offers a shaded pavilion as well as a firepit with gorgeous views. The day we came, there was a mini birthday celebration at the pavilion and boy were they lucky. A warm outdoor celebration in November here in the Midwest seems like the ultimate treat.
Once we started on a path, we quickly realized why so many loved this county park. Who wouldn’t be a fan of beautiful waterfront views with lots of space? Our little ones loved having open fields to frolic through. The hilly terrain allowed my kids to run up and down along the way making them completely tired. Another win for us!
Another thing we enjoyed about this park is that you’re close enough to Madison but yet it feels quite remote. The trails are also pretty well groomed and clearly labeled. On our way back we saw a lime green butterfly and the most fuzzy caterpillar.
Not only is this a great place to bring the family, but dogs will absolutely love it as they can run off leash in the unfenced dog park. Nearby is a boat launch for non gas motored boats. This is a great area to come relax, fish, and kayak.
While visiting, you can also view the ruins of the 1800s Matz farmhouse as well as the St. Mary of the Oaks Shrine built in 1857.
This definitely won’t be the last time we come to Indian Lake. In fact, we have plans to come during the winter for some sledding fun with the family. This is also a great spot for some cross-country skiing as you’ll have access to a log cabin warming house. If you’re looking for a mini day getaway without going too far, we highly suggest Indian Lake. You won’t regret it!
