At the coast, or inland, San Diego County is the place to be as spring turns to summer in Southern California.

CARLSBAD, CA — Dry and warmer conditions were expected through Friday in San Diego County, with cooler and windy weather accompanied by possible light showers along and west of the mountains over the weekend, forecasters said Thursday.
Friday's San Diego surf forecast includes a low-risk rip current, with surf from 2 to 3 feet, sets to 4 feet and mixed swell from 270 and 220 degrees.
Marine forecasters said stronger winds and higher seas are expected late Saturday into Sunday, possibly leading to hazardous boating conditions in the outer coastal waters. Winds and waves should gradually subside later Sunday into Monday.
No hazardous marine conditions are expected Thursday through Saturday.
The mountains and deserts will experience periods of stronger and gustier west winds Saturday afternoon into Sunday. According to the National Weather Service, the strongest winds are expected on Saturday afternoon and evening, with gusts from 40 to 50 mph.

Thursday highs will be a few degrees below average with temperatures ranging from the mid-60s near the coast to the mid-70s to lower 80s for inland areas and lower deserts in the upper 80s to mid 90s. Night and morning low clouds extending inland into portions of the inland valleys were expected Friday.
Mountain areas will be mostly clear and sunny through Friday, with highs ranging in the mid-60s and a slight chance of showers over the weekend.
On Thursday, downtown San Diego was expected to be mostly cloudy, then gradually sunny, with a high near 68 and light wind in the morning. The overnight low was expected to be around 56.
"Dry weather will follow for next week. Warming will begin on Monday and continue on Tuesday and Wednesday, with high temperatures of as much as 5 to 10 degrees above average on Wednesday for the coast and valleys," the NWS said.
