Reports emerged yesterday about drone activity in New Jersey, causing quite a stir as residents speculated about their sudden appearance. Meanwhile, here in Texas, we’ve received footage of drone sightings along Highway 290 and Bolivar Peninsula last night.

Stephen Burrill, a viewer, sent us video footage capturing drones coming from the Gulf of Mexico and heading northwest towards Houston.
“It looked way larger than it appeared,” Burrill remarked when asked about witnessing the drones from his porch.
Unlike other reports, his video stands out due to the presence of multiple drones.
“I could see them again, and there were several of them. I probably counted 8 to 10 in about 20 to 30 minutes,” he noted.
In the video, you’ll see four drones: three seem to be ascending from the ground, while one is already high in the sky.
When speaking with Stephen, he mentioned that the drones appeared to be thousands of feet in the air, yet they felt much closer. As he pulled out his camera, he also noticed an unusual silence surrounding the area.
When asked if he thought these drones resembled those seen in New Jersey or if they might be part of military testing, he responded, “Yeah, it was definitely a drone. I would assume that it’s probably some contractors from the military or the military doing some kind of testing. But it’s odd they would do that without letting the public know that they may see lights.”
The number of sightings is increasing daily, with many more people spotting drones. Earlier today, the Associated Press released an article detailing information shared by Homeland Security regarding this mysterious drone activity.
It was stated, “Drones don’t appear to threaten public safety,” according to Gov. Phil Murphy and law enforcement officials.
While much work remains to determine who is responsible for these drones, what their purpose is, and why they keep appearing, ongoing observation and research may eventually offer clarity. Until then, we can only speculate whether these are simply tests or perhaps visitors from another universe.

Islanders fans better hope the squad plays one heck of a game on Saturday as the odds are decidedly against them. They and the Houston Cougars will compete for holiday cheer at 2:00 p.m. ET at Fertitta Center. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
TX A&M-CC is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat SW Adventist 117-63. With the Islanders ahead 58-25 at the half, the game was all but over already.
TX A&M-CC smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as SW Adventist only pulled down six.
Meanwhile, Houston entered their tilt with Toledo on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Rockets, posting a 78-49 victory. The Cougars were heavily favored coming into this matchup, and the results showcase why.
Houston's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Terrance Arceneaux led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Arceneaux had some trouble finding his footing against Troy last Tuesday, so this was a step in the right direction. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Tugler, who went 5 for 6 en route to 13 points plus three blocks and two steals.
TX A&M-CC has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Houston, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their 23rd straight at home dating back to last season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: TX A&M-CC has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 37.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Houston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 39.7. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
TX A&M-CC took a serious blow against Houston when the teams last played back in November of 2023, falling 82-50. Can TX A&M-CC avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
The oddsmakers had a good feel for the line for this one, as the game opened with the Cougars as a 27.5-point favorite.
The over/under is 134.5 points.

For those evenings when you want to enjoy the beauty of the holiday season at your own pace, it's helpful to know which neighborhoods have the best holiday decorations and Christmas lights in Houston.
We've rounded up the neighborhoods with must-see lighting displays, so all you have to do is load the family into the car, turn on some holiday tunes, and explore the Bayou City on your own time. Many neighborhoods prefer visitors between 6–10 p.m. Lights are typically up from Thanksgiving through New Year.
Enter River Oaks from Kirby at Shepherd or Westheimer and begin winding your way through this elegant Houston neighborhood that boasts grandiose and traditional displays of white Christmas lights. You will discover enclaves of beautifully wrapped trees, glowing deer, and lights dripping from large branches creating stunning landscapes. Enjoy from 5–10 p.m., but be aware that any day after 7 p.m. can be bumper to bumper, and Friday and Saturday are particularly busy. Historically, visitors can also take the opportunity to have a picture with Santa at the ‘River Oaks Santa House’ located at 3403 Del Monte Dr. most Friday and Saturday evenings in December.
These shopping centers offer lovely Christmas lights displays and are a quick 10-minute add-on to the River Oaks neighborhood Christmas lights. From Loop 610, take San Felipe west into Post Oak, then turn left onto Post Oak and drive south toward the Galleria, where you can catch spectacular white lights on the 300 Christmas trees lining Uptown's main holiday thoroughfare. Take a left on Westheimer and cross under the Loop to head towards Highland Village, where you can see a 60 ft. Christmas tree. Take a left onto Kirby to make your way into the heart of River Oaks described above.
Known for its Christmas lights and its famous Lights in the Heights, this is an easily accessible neighborhood with many award-winning light displays. Drive within the area bordered by I-10, Heights Boulevard, and 19th Street to I-45, and you will be sure to find many eye-catching and magical holiday scenes. We recommend starting at Omar and Highland streets.
Start north of West 43rd Street on either side of Ella Boulevard to find many giant inflatable characters, arches over the streets, large cutouts, and dioramas.

Start at Prestonwood Forest Drive, just off Highway 249. This neighborhood in Northwest Houston is known to be the top area to experience extravagant Christmas lights with themed streets and even a chance to see Santa. Since the 1980s, neighbors have competed in several categories, including best house, best block, and even best lamp post. Visit Prestonwood Forest's annual Nite of Lites event on Saturday, Dec. 7, and see a wide variety of traditional and modern looks. Plan for this trip to take an hour and a half to two hours in order to have time to see all the complex displays and to park and get out of your car for some of them.

Located at 24603 Stoughton Court off I-10 and Pin Oak in West Houston, this home celebrates years of synchronized lighting. It has featured more than 50,000 LED lights, a 32-foot tree, 10-foot Nutcrackers, and a Christmas show with 17 songs broadcast on 89.9 FM. The whole street is expected to be lit up and beautiful as neighbors are also a part of the show.
This Fort Bend neighborhood is known for its Christmas lights. Kids often get to see the lights on hayrides through the streets.
Located off FM 518 and Country Club, this neighborhood has a long history of gorgeous Christmas light displays. If you can take your bicycle, then you can follow their 6 - 8 mile "Tour de Lites."
Located in the Pinehurst Subdivision, you will find Evening Shades Court which residents turn into Candy Cane Court each Christmas. Giant candy canes, candy cane trees, a life-size dancing Santa, a mailbox for letters to Santa, music, a homemade train that travels around the cul-de-sac, and lights upon lights transform the street into a Christmas destination complete with friendly neighbors passing out candy canes to visitors. Other planned communities to check out nearby include the Walden, Eagle Springs, and Summerwood neighborhoods.

Many neighborhoods in this area will have decorated homes and streets that are show-stoppers, but start at the Panther Creek and Alden Bridge neighborhoods for over-the-top Christmas light displays set to music. Whoville at June Breeze Place and the musical display at 62 W. Knightsbridge Drive are two worth stopping by.
Off Westheimer (near San Felipe and Chimney Rock), this longtime Houston neighborhood has certainly aged well. The houses and the towering oak trees spread throughout are decked out in holiday cheer each year.
In 2024, the Dickinson Festival of Lights is celebrating its 27th year. This is a free walk-through (not a drive-through) lights display at Paul Hopkins Park in Dickinson. In addition to large light displays, food and drink concessions and photos with Santa are available. There is free parking at Dickinson Plaza Shopping Center and free shuttle buses.
