If you've spent days or weeks painstakingly hanging strands of lights on your house, palm trees and shrubs, or hauling multiple figurines out to your lawn — Patch wants to hear from you.
Soon, we're compiling a Patch California tour o' lights, where readers can explore the best holiday light displays in San Ramon.

For many of us, taking in our neighbors’ outdoor holiday lighting displays and other decorative touches is as much a part of the season as exchanging gifts and singing Christmas carols.
There’s a good reason twinkling holiday lights and colorful displays make us feel good, according to mental health experts.
“It does create that neurological shift that can produce happiness,” Psychologist Deborah Serani, a senior professor at New York’s Adelphi University, told NBC’s “Today” show. “I think anything that takes us out of our normal habituation, the normal day in, day out ... signals our senses, and then our senses measure if it’s pleasing or not.”
Decorating for the holidays “will spike dopamine, a feel-good hormone,” she said. “For a lot of us, Christmas is a magical time, it’s a time of innocence. It’s a time of joy.”
That’s why Patch and T-Mobile are partnering to find the lighted homes around San Ramon to visit.

2024 Municipal Election Results
On December 3, the Contra Costa County Clerk-Recorder’s Office certified the results of the November 5, 2024 Municipal Election.
Mark H. Armstrong was elected the next Mayor of San Ramon. Robert Jweinat was elected the next City Council member from District 1, and Sridhar Verose was re-elected as the City Council member from District 3. Voters also approved Measure N, a ballot measure to adopt a 1% local sales tax in San Ramon.
Mayor-Elect Armstrong, Councilmember-Elect Jweinat, and Councilmember Verose will take the Oath of Office as part of the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, December 10 at 7 p.m. Outgoing Mayor David E. Hudson and Vice Mayor Scott Perkins will also be recognized at this meeting, with a reception to follow. Members of the public are encouraged to attend the meeting and reception, which will be held at San Ramon City Hall (7000 Bollinger Canyon Road, San Ramon, CA 94583).
Mayor-Elect Armstrong is currently the City Council member from District 2, and his election as Mayor will leave the District 2 City Council seat vacant. At a Special City Council Meeting on Wednesday, December 11, the City Council will meet and discuss how to fill the seat. The City Council may choose to receive applications and appoint a new Council member, or hold a special election to fill the seat. An official agenda for the December 11 Special City Council Meeting will be available 72 hours before the meeting at sanramon.ca.gov/meeting. Public Comment will be received as part of the discussion on this agenda item.

Measure N, a ballot measure proposing a 1% local sales tax in San Ramon, passed with 56.21% of the vote (21,035 votes in favor out of 37,421 total votes), exceeding the required 50% +1 to pass.
The City’s sales tax consultant, HdL, estimated in 2023 that a 1% sales tax would generate approximately $15.7 million a year to support City services. Updated analysis from November 2024 estimates that a 1% sales tax would now generate closer to $15.24 million a year, due to recent economic trends such as a decrease in purchasing. Sales tax is a variable revenue source for cities. Given this, the San Ramon City Council adopted a conservative approach to forecasting revenues to help smooth out fluctuations like this latest update from HdL.
The 1% sales tax is scheduled to go into effect in San Ramon on April 1, 2025. An early portion of revenue is expected to become available in the summer of 2025.
The City of San Ramon expects to maintain most of its fiscal year 2024–25 service reductions through the end of the current fiscal year (June 30, 2025). The City Council will evaluate any potential service restorations at its mid-year budget review in January 2025. LOS ANGELES — A joint venture between Real Estate Development Associates (REDA) and Clarion Partners have completed construction of Union Commerce Center, a Class A warehouse/distribution facility at 3690 E. Union Pacific Ave. in central Los Angeles. Situated on more than 11 acres, Union Commerce Center offers 253,318 square feet of speculative industrial space.
The development consists of a single 253,318-square-foot industrial building with a clear height of 36 feet, 35 dock-high doors with levers on all docks, two oversized grade-level doors, 41 trailer stalls, an ESFR K-25 sprinkler system, skylights, wide column spacing and ample expandable power.
Union Commerce Center features a large-scale mural that wraps around a 500,000-gallon water tower, which serves the property’s fire sprinkler system. The mural was produced by local artist Downtown Daniel, an Angeleno more formally known as Daniel Antelo. Antelo’s work has been featured on walls and canvases nationwide, and he is recognized for his work with Nike, Kobe Bryant’s family, The Marathon Clothing and the LA Rams, Clippers and Dodgers.

SAN RAMON, CA — It’s almost that time of year: City Center’s Kristi Yamaguchi Ice Rink is reopening for the season, and its namesake, figure skating champion Kristi Yamaguchi, is going to cut the ribbon.
On Friday, the Gold Medal and two-time World Champion figure skater will inaugurate the season, which will last until Jan. 5. From 6-7:30, enjoy a grand opening ceremony, which will feature a ribbon cutting and an evening of skating performances and caroling from San Ramon Valley High School students.
On Nov. 22 at 6 p.m., the rink will host a tree lighting ceremony with performances from the Monte Vista High School band, singers, dancers, and an appearance from Santa Claus.
Yamaguchi will return to her rink on Saturday, Dec. 7 for the Kristi Yamaguchi Barbie event, where visitors will be able to meet her and receive a signed Kristi Yamaguchi Barbie doll.
On Dec. 23, Yamaguchi is hosting a special skating clinic teaching foundational techniques. These are just a few of the many family-friendly themed nights this season, which include Family Photo Nights, Elf Night, Taylor Swift Night, three different visits with Santa, and many more.
