PUNTA GORDA, FL—Raymond Jay Bruget, 68, of Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Hawarden, IA, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023.
Celebration of life will take place at a later date in Hawarden.
Raymond Jay Bruget was born June 17, 1955, to Ralph and Harriet Bruget in Hawarden, Iowa. He attended West Sioux High School, graduating in 1973 and entered the military. He serve in the U.S. Army as a mechanic in which he was stationed in Germany for part of his tour.
Following his service in the Army, Raymond lived in Missoula, MT, for some time before moving and working as a mechanic at Motor Power Equipment in Billings, MT. While residing in Montana he married Linda Baldry and had two children; Chelsea and Kaid, both children now currently residing in Portland, OR.
Later, Raymond re-married Robin Stetzner gaining two more children; William, who currently resides in Portland, OR and Katie, a resident of Billings, MT. He and Robin moved from Billings, Montana to Punta Gorda, Florida in 2016 where they remained.
Raymond loved to fish and garden. He had a favorite spot on the Yellowstone River where he would meet his buddies on an annual basis for what was always a fun-filled time and often hard-to-believe “stories.” When it came to gardening he often would banter with his siblings Debbie and Ronald about his tilling, planting, and harvesting prowess. He took great joy in sharing his harvest with neighbors and friends.
Raymond passed peacefully with his wife Robin, daughter Chelsea, and his faithful dog Benny by his bedside, and with the love and support of family and friends in the days leading up to his passing.
He is preceded in death by his twin brother Ronald, and parents Ralph and Harriet.
He has two remaining siblings, Jaylene of Corona Del Mar, CA and sister Deborah and her husband Tom of Sioux Falls, SD.
May his memory be eternal.
