Some residents in Boston's Roslindale neighborhood are searching for answers after the partial building collapse on Poplar Street on Wednesday night.
Bricks came down from the building housing Felix Barber Shop, across from Adams Park in Roslindale Village. No one was injured.
The situation could have been a lot worse with bricks falling onto the sidewalk, and with cars and people nearby, people in the area said.
Kitty Carrington told us she was just seconds away from walking under the building facade where the bricks came loose and plummeted to ground. She says her daughter was in the area, as well.
"I sent her out to the store. So, she walked by and she saw what happened," Carrington said. "She said, 'Ma, you don't see that every day.' She said, 'The bricks fell off,' and she mentioned something about 'Final Destination.'"
Crews could be seen Thursday trying to secure the building with scaffolding in front of the barber shop and neighboring Roslindale Fish Market.
The owner of the barber shop, which opened about a month ago, said two employees were inside at the time. No one was inside Roslindale Fish Market, which was closed.
"It's a very, very busy part of the neighborhood, so I'm going to go by and make sure that I check it out and am there walking the site with our team later on," said Mayor Michelle Wu, a Roslindale resident.
We took the concerns of neighbors to Wu following this situation, and about two weeks after part of a building that was under renovation collapsed in East Boston. No one was hurt in that incident, either.
"We're going to continue to have our inspectors out there and work with the building owner to make sure everything is safe and that we understand what exactly caused this," Wu said of Wednesday's incident in Roslindale.
Firefighters responded around 8:00 tonight for bricks that fell from the facade of 41 Poplar st. Roslindale . There were no injuries to report. The area has been secured. Companies are waiting for the building inspector to access the damage to the building. pic.twitter.com/EluL62u0kL

The building owner did not want to go on camera, but said, "I'm working with the city right now to secure the building and figure out the problem."
NBC10 Boston reached out to Boston Inspectional Services Wednesday and Thursday, but did not get a comment.
Right now, it is unclear when the two businesses will be able to reopen.
