We’ve told you about the upcoming happening at the Cornerstone Hall here in Boulder City. (Get your tickets now before they sell out!) But we wanted to share some additional info about this dynamic duo and how lucky we are to have them play here with us!

More than a few of you are already familiar with the fantastic playing of who is a regular feature at Cleveland’s – The Lounge night club (downstairs at the Boulder Dam Hotel), plus he has been part of other Boulder City events such as the annual Chamber Officer Installation. Patrick, originally from Ireland is a well known and respected guitarist and vocalist who has been part of the Las Vegas entertainment landscape for decades. Always entertaining, his style fits in easily whether putting on a full Irish show or a small intimate party gathering, he is a consummate showman guaranteed to entertain the crowd.

But we were curious about his key partner for this event, , so we reached out to learn more. Also originally born in Ireland she came from a highly musical family of musicians and credits her parents as her first teachers. Fast forward to 1997 when she came to the States following two brothers and a sister who was part of the world-famous Riverdance troupe. At the time the tour was about to head to Australia and the current fiddle player needed to break from the group for a month and a sub was needed. Maire was hired and learned the entire musical performance studying by ear and then joined the tour for that month in Australia.

You’d think that was all, but when she returned to the US she landed in Las Vegas and because of the exposure gained in Riverdance she was then picked up and joined the traveling cast for the new tour, Lord of the Dance and spent eight years with that production traveling all of the Americas. When she landed again in Las Vegas she was also part of the residency at the New York, New York casino as part of the Nine Fine Irishmen Pub. (you can watch a sample HERE).

With all of that, for the NYE Barn Dance, they are also pulling in two other players for that night, drummer and singer extraordinaire, Michelle Mulhaire along with local bass player Jason Langley (resident bass player for Matt Goss for 11 years.)

The musical assortment will move between classic rock and country hits, to Irish folk songs and all sorts of danceable and lively music certain to coax you and a partner on to the dance floor and set the tone for a perfect evening, while enjoying the musicality of some seriously talented musicians. The Boulder City Fire Department recently announced a new membership program for Boulder City residents 18 and over who may need to use ambulance services for transportation from their residence to a local hospital (some restrictions apply). The program provides two transports per year to covered individuals. Memberships are valid from the date of payment, and will expire on the last day of the same month the following year. The annual membership is available for individuals and families according to this fee schedule:

Medicaid patients are not included in the program, as Medicaid payments are accepted as payment in full. Therefore, membership is not needed.

This program is not available for medical incidents occurring outside of the City’s corporate boundaries and there are no reciprocal agreements with any other Clark County, Nevada providers. The City reserves the right to use third-party services for ambulance transport and the fees charged by third-party providers are not covered by the membership program. Third-party ambulance services would only be used “in the rare occasion where Boulder City Fire Department does not have ground ambulance transportation available.” In cases such as this, a covered member may request a refund of the annual fee for that year.

In conjunction with the membership, covered members may also take part in first aid / lifesaving courses offered by the Fire Department. These classes are as follows:

To enroll in the program, an online application must be submitted to the Fire Department by clicking HERE. Applicants can pay the program fee at the Fire Department, Monday thru Friday, from 7:30AM to 5:30PM. The Fire Department is located at 1001 Elm Street. Additionally payments can be made at City Hall at the Utility Office, Monday thru Thursday, from 7:30M to 5:30PM. The Utility Office is located on the first floor of CIty Hall at 401 California Avenue. Both offices are closed on City-designated holidays.

Saturday, December 13th, the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, located here in Boulder City, will be participating in “Wreaths Across America”, an annual event where wreaths are placed on the graves of Veterans to remember and honor them for their service. You can share in the event and show your support in several ways:

Help lay wreaths at our local Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Register by first selecting our location in Boulder City, from the link HERE. Type in NVSVMB, then select our location, the Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery. Press View and then you’ll see a button (scroll to bottom of page to the blue button) where you can register to Volunteer. The ceremony will begin at 9:00AM and volunteers are welcome to attend.

December 13, 2025, at 9:00AM – The ceremony will take place inside the chapel at 9:00AM. Seating is very limited. We ask that children sit on laps of their parents.

Please remember the placement of wreaths and the chapel ceremony is to honor those we have lost. The event is open to the public and we ask you to take time when placing a wreath on a grave of our fallen heroes and say a few words.

Parking is very limited inside the cemetery grounds. Larger trucks/SUVs and buses will need to park outside of the cemetery on Commons Way or Buchanan Blvd.

Placement of Wreaths in the Cemetery: 9:45AM – At approximately 9:45AM behind the chapel wreaths purchased for grave specific can be picked up with the receipt of purchase. Group Orders: Larger group orders for grave specifics can be picked up behind the chapel with photo ID of the person from the group who purchased the wreaths.

We sat down with Bari Jo and Hava Berman a few months ago, to talk about their cool, retro feel, creation come to life: Utopia Pinball Lounge. Utopia Pinball Lounge will be located at 555 California Avenue but it’s light years’ away in terms of feeling and aesthetics. Step inside the cheery interior and you’ll be taken back in time to a midcentury vibe that is noted in even the smallest details. But that’s just the building. The coolest thing about Utopia Pinball Lounge are the Berman sisters and the machines they have curated and created for the lounge.

Bari Jo and Hava have been aficionados of pinball since they were children. The first game they had at home was the game Comet, a gift from their parents. They were fascinated by the analog nature of the machine, the way the ball moved and lit up parts of the game, and how getting better at the game was so satisfying. They want to bring that same love to new people who may not be familiar with the machines and their games.

They source their machines from a variety of sources: pinball machine companies, gaming companies, auctions, and pinball communities on social media. There’s be a huge revival in the industry and refurbished, vintage, and new games are wildly popular. The most popular games tend to be themed around music, movies, televisions, and eras in history, like Medieval Madness. They attended the Pinball Expo in Chicago last October. They plan to open with approximately ten machines and slowly incorporate others as desired.

They also plan to update their machine lineup frequently and swap out several machines per month to keep the pinball players interested and engaged in playing. There will be games for all playing levels: from novices to expert. There will be something for every guest to find delight in.

One particularly aspect of Utopia Pinball Lounge is that during regular working hours, it will function as Bari Jo’s office. Bari Jo, a retired Disney Imagineer, will be working in her design studio during the week. Friday afternoon and all weekend the office will become the lounge where pinball play will take place. Special arrangements may be made for private parties and the like, but the lounge will have specific hours.

They moved to this particular location with intent. The sisters moved to Boulder City from Southern California after visiting other locations in the desert southwest like Camp Verde, Winslow and Williamson, Arizona. When they found Boulder City, they knew they’d found their new home. The location on California Street was a dream come true as it was still part of the historic part of Boulder City. They love the optimism of the town and its deep roots in history.

They were excited about the proximity to Boulder Bowl and other downtown businesses. They plan to create leagues for players with the eye to hosting tournaments eventually. Scoring will be electronically linked using International Flipper Pinball Association (IFPA) system.
