Potential Tropical Cyclone 8 postponed several road construction dates in Brunswick County. As things settle back to normal, roadwork is scheduled to soon commence.
With construction back on, some roads will come with temporary detours.
"We ask the public to plan their routes prior to work beginning," said NCDOT spokeswoman Lauren Haviland. "It is also important to allow for extra time for their commute once construction begins."
Here's what to know.
Detour near NC 211
N.C. 133 near N.C. 211, also known as Southport-Supply Road, will be closed with a detour beginning Nov. 11, Haviland said.
The detour will have a "medium" impact on traffic, per DriveNC.gov, a N.C. Department of Transportation website that tracks up to date information on road closures and detours.
"Long Beach Road (N.C. 133) will have an onsite detour onto Old Long Beach Road in order to construct the N.C. 133 bridge over N.C. 211," according to DriveNC.gov.
The anticipated end date is Oct. 25, 2025.

River Road to become less of a river
NCDOT planned to begin work on a section of N.C. 133 near Funston Road in September, just before Potential Tropical Cyclone 8 flooded the southern section of the county.
Haviland said the project start date has been pushed to Dec. 2.
Prior plans were presented at the Brunswick County Board of Commissioners' Aug. 19 regular meeting.
An NCDOT construction engineer told commissioners the nearly year-long project involved closing a 1/2 mile section of N.C. 133 near Funston Road to construct a new bridge over Sand Hill Creek. The project also included replacing existing culverts and pipes.
The new bridge, per the Aug. 19 presentation, will be about five feet higher than the existing road and is expected to help with flooding.
Motorists should plan to take the detour along N.C. 87 to U.S. 17.
"Our staff will be monitoring traffic to see if any adjustments need to be made," said Haviland, urging the public to reach out to NCDOT staff if they have concerns.

Delayed NC 87 paving project
A sprint-start paving project is not scheduled to begin on N.C. 87 from just north of N.C. 133 to just south of Danford Road until after the N.C. 133 near Funston Road project is completed.
NCDOT is currently in a contract for paving N.C. 87 from 0.3 miles north of N.C. 133 to 1.29 miles south of Danford Road. The repaving encompasses eight additional roads.
