Always Best Care 

Out on Caddo Lake, Keith Carter faced challenges hiring caregivers for his aging father. Keith had promised his dad that he would never place him in a nursing home and that he would retire at the lake house. His father needed caregivers to assist with activities of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, food preparation, and mobility assistance. After searching in Northwest Louisiana, Keith found a franchise that met all their requirements: Always Best Care. He worked closely with the nurse owners and eventually purchased the local franchise office in 2015.

Always Best Care Senior Services, a national franchise based in Roseville, California, boasts over 180 franchises across the United States. In Louisiana, there are offices in Monroe and Baton Rouge. The Northwest Louisiana franchise office, located in Shreveport at 1805 Line Avenue, is locally owned by Keith. It is managed by a staff of eight office personnel and over 90 caregivers serving all of Northwest Louisiana. Always Best Care Shreveport is licensed and bonded by the Louisiana Department of Health and carries comprehensive protection plans, including workers’ compensation and general liability insurance. All caregivers undergo thorough screening processes, including reference checks, drug tests, background checks, and driver’s license verifications. Employees also receive approximately 20 hours of in-house training and wear recognizable royal blue scrubs.

The caregivers and CNAs at Always Best Care provide complete in-home care services, including light housekeeping, transportation, companion care, and assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and food preparation. They are prepared to meet any need in various settings, including homes, hospitals, rehab centers, and assisted living facilities. The Always Best Care team conducts in-depth intake and needs evaluations with patients and their families, offering flexible scheduling from four to 24 hours a day. Always Best Care is dedicated to providing comprehensive solutions that allow seniors to age in place and improve their quality of life daily.

In 2019, Always Best Care Senior Services was awarded the exclusive contract to provide In-Home Care and Respite Care to the Caddo and Bossier Councils on Aging. Since 2016, Always Best Care has also provided in-home care to veterans through a regional contract with the VA Medical Center in Shreveport.

Keith and his team at Always Best Care have experienced consistent growth and recognition. In 2016, they were awarded the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year. In 2017, they received the Better Business Bureau Outstanding Customer Service Award. In 2018, Keith’s franchise earned the Sapphire Award from Always Best Care. Always Best Care Senior Services of Northwest Louisiana is A+ rated with the BBB and is certified by the National Association of Home Care. In 2019, the national office recognized them for achieving the Largest Percentage Increase of any franchise in the United States.

During the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic, Keith and his team worked tirelessly to provide safe in-home care to their patients. “We stayed fully operational as an essential business because that is what we do: provide care to our patients,” Keith said. Helping families in similar situations to his own has been a rewarding experience for him. He particularly cherishes the notes from families expressing gratitude for helping them keep their loved ones in the family home.

Hello! My name is Millen Manuel. I came to Always Best Care with an extensive background in Human Resources, Benefits Administration and Finance. I also have many years of management under my belt. While I wear many hats at ABC, my official role is the Director of Human Resources & Operations – NWLA and ETX. I am extremely proud of the entire NWLA-ETX team. Our caregivers, office staff and CEO all work tirelessly to provide the best care for our clients. Senior care is a true work of the heart.

I am a Texas girl but have lived in Louisiana during my adult life. I am happily married to my best friend, Dee. He is a true Saints football fan and I just hope both teams have fun! I am also the Mama of 2 sons, Anthony – 24 years old & Jayden – 22 years old who are the lights of my life. We have a 1 year old granddaughter – Ava Rose and a grandson, Christian who will be making his appearance in May 2026!

Outside of work, I also enjoy true crime shows, traveling, shopping and spending time with friends & family.

Hello! My name is Rae Ann Ross, the Area Manager at Always Best Care, bringing a strong background in business development and strategic operations leadership with a focus on driving growth and building meaningful relationships.

Growing up with my grandparents, I witnessed firsthand the profound impact that compassionate care and support can have. That experience continues to inspire my commitment to making a difference and helping others receive the quality care they deserve. I’m grateful to be part of a company that aligns so closely with my values and has provided me with so much growth and opportunity along the way.

Originally from Mississippi, I relocated to Louisiana to pursue new opportunities, and joining the Always Best Care family has been an incredibly rewarding part of that journey. Outside of work, I enjoy walking my Australian Shepherd, Maple, exploring new places, getting lost in a good book, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Lisa Dawson resides in Lakeway, TX. She retired from education in December of 2023. She has two daughters, Rylee and Patsy Ann Dawson. She was born and raised in Texas and has joined the Always Best Care Team with the mission of expanding service territory into Texas. As a daughter she is an active caregiver to her parents who are 94 and 92. Understanding the need to provide reliable, dependable care to support the individual/family unit is paramount to business success. She gets it!

My name is Beth Craig, and I’ve been proud to serve as an Operations Manager at Always Best Care since May 2024. I have a strong background in team leadership, scheduling, and day-to-day operations.

I focus on creating efficient systems that allow caregivers to deliver exceptional care. I’m passionate about creating a supportive environment for both our clients and caregivers. I take pride in helping families feel confident in the care their loved ones receive, while also making sure our team feels valued, acknowledged, and set up for success.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my 2 children, Jayce and Dovie, family and friends.

Sandra Frith brings over 24 years of experience in Senior Health and Well Being to her role as a passionate advocate for seniors.

After the loss of her husband of 46 years, she has dedicated the second half of her life to supporting others in similar stages of life.

As a Senior Connection Advocate, Sandra contributes to innovative and compassionate senior services, by linking seniors to community resources.

Outside of her professional life, Sandra enjoys connecting with others, sewing, cooking, reading, and traveling. She cherishes time spent with her children and grandchildren, and believes in the importance of family and meaningful relationships.

My name is Teice and I’m the Project Manager with a background in administrative operations, human resources, and senior care. I have been with Always Best Care since September 2023 and truly love what I do. I take pride in supporting both our clients and caregivers and helping ensure our services run smoothly while providing quality care to those we serve.

I am 31 years old and a proud mother of two sons, Jace and Jaxon, and a daughter, Libby. I am originally from Haughton and spent much of my life between Louisiana and Arkansas growing up. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, and going to the beach whenever we can.

My passion for senior care comes from personal experience, as I grew up helping care for my parents through health challenges, appointments, and daily needs. Those experiences gave me a deep respect for this field and the seniors we serve.

My name is Beverly Furgason and I joined the Always Best Care team as the Business Manager in June 2026, bringing more than 40 years of banking and customer service experience. A long-time resident of the Shreveport-Bossier area since the age of nine. I manage billing, payroll, accounts payable and other administrative functions.

I enjoy working with the public and building lasting relationships. She believes in treating everyone with kindness and compassion and is committed to providing exceptional support to clients, their families and caregivers.

Outside of work, I enjoy volunterring at local festivals and other community activities as well as spending time with friends and family. I am a proud mother of two daughters, Kaitlyn and Emily and newly has the title of grandmother to Caroline Elise, born May 14, 2026.
