Hollywood, CA (The Hollywood Times) 10/19/2026 – The Houston brothers know how to build a room. After covering their MTV VMA after-party at Level 8 last month, I found myself at another of their venues, Say Yes, on Wilcox Avenue in Hollywood. On October 18, Affinity Nightlife hosted a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show after-party there, which also served as a grand-opening celebration for the club from Mark and Jonnie Houston.
I walked through a small back hallway that opened into a room with high ceilings, gold trim and a look that immediately reminded me of the Pantages Theatre. Golden peacocks, blue velvet, marble, feathers and giant golden bubbles filled the space. Small statues held illuminated globes, while bartenders and servers dressed in suspenders, bow ties and arm garters completed the 1920s look.
What I liked was that they stayed true to the aesthetic. There were no giant video screens or flashing laser lights. Instead, cozy couches, warm lighting and framed photographs of Hollywood legends like Sean Connery and Marlon Brando gave the place the feel of an old Hollywood lounge rather than an industrial nightclub. Walkways and platforms surrounded the dance floor, with a vaudeville-style stage lined with footlights. A giant champagne glass looked big enough for someone to perform inside. I didn’t see anyone try, but it looked the part.
The guests were getting into the spirit, too. Quite a few wore tiny angel wings in tribute to the famous Angels, and plenty of others came in sparkle, dressed up and living out their own Victoria’s Secret moments.
Among the people I met was Lilianna Elizondo, a longtime Victoria’s Secret fan who had won a sweepstakes to attend the fashion show. For her, it was a childhood dream come true.
“Oh my God, I was on cloud nine. I was in heaven. I was over the moon,” she told me when I asked how she felt about winning.
She had won little things before, but nothing quite like this. When I asked about the show itself, she was still beaming.
“It was beautiful. It was dazzling, striking. It was pink, glitter,” she said. “My heaven looks like that. I don’t know about anybody else, but it was everything in my eyes.”
She told me she cried as soon as the show started. Even at the after-party, the excitement had not worn off.
“I mean, I’m still on cloud nine.”
The energy picked up another notch when DJ Allie M, Allison Mathis, took the stage. Her beats kept the party moving, and she wasn’t up there alone. A group of women joined her onstage, where chairs and tables made the whole setup look like its own private VIP party overlooking the dance floor.
I also recognized a familiar face from the MTV after-party at Level 8. I’d spotted Sage Stevens there but never had the chance to speak with her. This time, I was not going to miss the opportunity.
Sage, an actress, producer and host of Shout Out with Sage on StreamInn Hub Radio, remembered the space from before it was Say Yes. The venue occupies the former Sayers Club location.
“Well, it’s a reincarnation,” she told me. “For those of us that have been in L.A. a little while, we know what it was before. I won’t say it, but yeah, it was fabulous then, and so hopefully it will be a reincarnation that’s just as fabulous as what it was before.”
When I asked what brought her out that night, her answer was simple.
“Well, it is the Victoria’s Secret after-party, so you have to go out.”
Sage also told me about No Angels in Hollywood, a project she’s producing and co-directing, with a proof-of-concept short already filmed.
As I made my way through the crowd, I spotted a man standing head and shoulders above everyone else. He looked familiar, but I couldn’t quite place him. As I got closer, it clicked. It was Chris Seeley from Love Island USA. I stopped to ask what he thought of the night and what he’d tell his friends about Say Yes.
“I would tell them if you were looking for a grown, mature, kind of like lounge-type of vibe with some good music, make sure you come slide through, for sure,” he said.
I was ready to call it a night, but Say Yes was far from finished. With more DJs still scheduled to perform, the party was only getting started. Outside, a long line of people was still waiting to get in. It seemed everyone wanted to say yes to a night out in Hollywood.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Construction broke ground Monday on a nearly $4 billion light rail project that will bring passenger trains back to Van Nuys Boulevard for the first time in more than 70 years.
Metro broke ground Monday on the 6.7-mile East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit Project, which will include 11 stations serving Van Nuys, Panorama City, Arleta and Pacoima.
The project will be the first rail service along Van Nuys Boulevard since 1952, when Pacific Electric streetcars stopped operating along the corridor.
Metro says the project will be complete in 2032.
The new rail line will run along the center of Van Nuys Boulevard and include 11 stations, about three-quarters of a mile apart: the Van Nuys G Line, Victory, Vanowen, Sherman Way, Van Nuys Metrolink, Roscoe, Nordhoff, Woodman, Arleta, Laurel Canyon and San Fernando.
The light rail line will also offer connections to the planned Sepulveda Transit Corridor rail project — which will connect the Valley to the Westside through the Sepulveda Pass — and a future Metrolink station in Pacoima.
The project also includes new sidewalks, shade structures, safer pedestrian crossings and roadway improvements designed to make the corridor more accessible.
According to Metro, about 19% of households along the planned route do not have access to a personal vehicle, compared with 8% across Los Angeles County as a whole.
Van Nuys Boulevard is already served by two heavily used Metro bus routes, Lines 233 and 761, which recorded nearly 20,000 combined boardings in September.
Metro officials estimate the project will generate more than 18,000 direct and indirect jobs through construction and operations. The agency also plans to provide financial assistance to small businesses affected by construction through its Business Interruption Fund.
The nearly $4 billion project is being funded through federal, state and local sources, including Measure M, the transportation sales tax approved by Los Angeles County voters in 2016.
Metro also secured an $893 million federal grant through a program designed to accelerate major transit construction projects.
The project is part of a broader effort to improve transportation throughout the San Fernando Valley, including upgrades to the Metro G Line and bus service improvements along Roscoe Boulevard and Nordhoff Street.
A rail maintenance and storage facility will be built in Van Nuys, west of Van Nuys Boulevard, between Keswick Street, Raymer Street and the Pacoima Wash.

LOS ANGELES, CA — In-N-Out Burger has steadfastly refused to offer delivery, but some enterprising Southern Californians are taking matters into their own hands by offering to deliver the chain's burgers through Facebook Marketplace.
A search of the platform by the online publication L.A. Material uncovered 11 people advertising In-N-Out delivery services across Los Angeles County, Orange County, the Inland Empire and Santa Barbara, according to the website.
One driver, 30-year-old Hollywood resident Jesse Osorio, told the publication he has been offering delivery for about five months and now averages 20 customers a week. He charges $20 for a typical delivery and $30 or more for larger orders.
Other drivers advertise delivery fees ranging from $10 to $15, according to L.A. Material.
But the services come with risks. The publication attempted to order In-N-Out from one Facebook Marketplace seller. But the food never arrived and the seller eventually blocked the publication, according to the report.
The unofficial delivery services apparently operate despite In-N-Out's longstanding opposition to mobile ordering and third-party delivery.
In-N-Out owner Lynsi Snyder-Ellingson earlier this year said the company has repeatedly rejected proposals to introduce mobile ordering and delivery, citing concerns about customer service and food freshness.
"We've for sure had that put in front of us ... and the answer is no," Snyder-Ellingson said when asked about mobile ordering.
She also said delivery companies have approached In-N-Out about offering their services, but executives have declined over concerns about the "freshness factor."

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- The water main that ruptured Thursday in West Hollywood, flooding streets and opening a massive sinkhole, was already slated for replacement as part of a high-priority Los Angeles Department of Water and Power infrastructure project.
The ruptured Sunset Trunk Line is included in LADWP's Water System Capital Improvement Program as a high-priority replacement project, the department said in a statement Thursday. LADWP manages water for roughly two-thirds of West Hollywood residents, according to the city.
The utility budgeted $280 million to replace 6.4 miles of the 36-inch-diameter trunk line, along with 6.4 miles of a smaller water line that runs parallel to it.
According to LADWP, the replacement project is currently in the design phase.
Even with the project designated as high priority, construction was not expected to start for several more years. LADWP's current schedule calls for work to begin in 2031 and conclude in 2035.
The statement comes hours after the water main break near Sunset Boulevard and Holloway Drive sent water rushing through nearby streets, damaging vehicles, flooding properties and creating a large sinkhole near the Sunset Strip. It led to several road closures heavily impacting traffic.
LADWP officials said Thursday that the leak occurred in a 36-inch trunk line installed in 1916.
"This is one of the challenges when our infrastructure is so old," Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass told reporters at the scene. "It is my understanding that these pipes are over 100 years old."
In its 2024-2025 fiscal year, LADWP replaced less than a mile of trunk pipe when the goal was to replace 1.1 miles. But in its latest water infrastructure report, LADWP says the goal is to replace more than three and a half miles of these trunk pipes every year to replace high-risk pipes.
Renowned seismologist Lucy Jones says take what you see in West Hollywood as a warning and just imagine what will happen to our aging pipes when "the big one" shakes and breaks them.
"So much of L.A.'s water pipes were installed over a hundred years ago because it's the first thing you do before you build nay houses and it's across Southern California, that these pipes are the most vulnerable infrastructure that we have," Jones said.
Archives show that there was a 36-inch wide pipe that burst just a few blocks east from Thursday's incident, on Sunset in 2014. Eyewitness News is waiting for answers from LADWP if this trunk pipe has a history of leaking.
While it was not immediately known exactly what caused Thursday's water main rupture, LADWP says these pipes often burst in overnight hours because the pressure builds up with less demand as people sleep.
Crews spent hours Thursday shutting down the highly pressurized system and responding to damage caused by the break. Officials have not said whether the incident will affect the timeline for the planned replacement project.
