“I have somebody from Always Best Care coming in three days a week. They’re always very polite, very caring, and dependable, and they’re always there for your needs. I have been using them for two years now. Mainly, this lady comes and drives me to my doctor’s appointments, to shopping, and to whatever I ask her to do. She also washes clothes for me on the days we don’t go out. She does different little things that I need. She is very polite and always on time, and I just pay once a month. They’re good.”

“My 91 year old father, who is a stroke patient, came to live with me and my husband 3 years ago after my mother passed away. We struggled weekly to get him to take a bath with assistance by my husband. On the agreed scheduled day for bathing, my father would “feel bad” and negotiate a later date. Bathing a partly paralyzed, uncooperative adult is not easy. So last fall when my husband and I were going to travel overseas for our 25th wedding anniversary, we needed help. Our son was coming to live at our house to take care of my father . It was not appropriate for our son to bathe his grandfather. So my father’s doctor recommended I contact Karena Kirk with Always Best Care Senior Services. I had never considered using outside care for my father. Best phone call I have ever made. Ms. Kirk came to meet with me to discuss my father’s needs. My father was very reluctant at first. But after the first bathing event, HE IS IN LOVE. Ms. Kirk was gentle, kind, engaging in conversation and asking my father regarding what he needed in this new care relationship. My father knows that his bath schedule is every Monday and Friday and looks forward to Ms. Kirk and her staff coming to care for him. He has in-depth talks and loves their visits. Ms. Kirk and her staff will do other chores like changing out his bedding and washing the linens and his clothes. Any other tasks that I need assistance with they are more than happy to help. It has changed all of our lives for the better.”

TESTIMONIALS

“Always Best Care was literally a godsend for my family! From my first phone call with Roxane who was able to put an amazing team of caregivers in the hospital that day for the my dad’s 10 week stay (which included Hurricane Harvey) through the next 5 months in a skilled nursing facility, ABC never let me down. The kindness and quality of ABC’s caregivers and the way Karena manages her company exceeded what I thought was possible based on my prior 10 years of experience with other outside caregivers during my mom’s decline from Alzheimer’s. With no family in Houston, knowing I could count on Roxane’s and Karena’s caring oversight and communication enabled me to advocate for my dad from out of state and gave me peace of mind to be able to honor his wish to stay in Houston. The kindness and skills of ABC’s caregivers were extraordinary (and I have very high expectations)! They became extended family for which I will always be grateful.”

“Karena Kirk and her staff were a Godsend to my dad and to me! He passed away last November at 104. The care and attention he received from Always Best Care played a huge part in the quality of his life right up until the end. Karena and Roxane were always there to make sure things ran smoothly and on many occasion going above and beyond the call of duty. I will always be grateful for how that reduced the stress of me being the only child, living out-of-town. They had my complete trust and my dad loved them.”

FAQs About Skilled Home Health Care Services

Female-Caregiver-Mobile Female-Caregiver-Desktop

Absolutely! Federal law gives patients the freedom to choose their home healthcare provider. It would be our honor to care for you, or your loved one when you need us most!

Home health is designed to help you recover in the comfort of your home through skilled nurses and rehabilitation services. Home health must be ordered by a physician when they determine that your condition requires you to stay at home for rehab and recovery from illness, injury or surgery. Home health is the most cost effective option for receiving care as it allows for patients and their families to be home where they want to be.

Home health is skilled clinical care ordered by a health care provider. These services might include things like nursing, physical therapy and occupational therapy, and are designed to help you manage your condition and regain your independence after illness, injury, or surgery.
Personal home care assistance involves non-clinical services, such as help around the house, transportation, bathing, and light meal preparation.

Paying for home health services can be done through various methods, depending on your specific situation and the options available to you. Here are some common payment methods:

Medicare: If you qualify for Medicare, it may cover 100% of your home health services. Medicare is a federal health insurance program primarily for individuals aged 65 and older, but it can also cover younger individuals with certain disabilities. To be eligible for Medicare coverage of home health services, you typically need a doctor’s order and meet specific criteria related to your health condition.

Private Insurance: Many private health insurance plans cover home health services. The coverage and requirements can vary significantly from one insurance plan to another, so it’s essential to check with your insurance provider to understand your specific coverage and any out-of-pocket costs you might incur.

Medicare Advantage: Some individuals choose to enroll in Medicare Advantage plans (Part C), which are offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare. These plans often include coverage for home health services, but the specifics can vary by plan.

Long-Term Care Insurance: Long-term care insurance policies are designed to cover the costs of various long-term care services, including home health care. If you have such a policy, check your coverage to see if it includes home health services and any specific requirements for reimbursement.

Veteran’s Benefits: Veterans may be eligible for home health services coverage through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Eligibility and coverage depend on factors such as your service-connected disability status and other criteria. Contact the VA or your local Veterans Health Administration office for more information.

Workers’ Compensation: If your need for home health services is related to a work-related injury or illness, workers’ compensation insurance may cover the costs. This generally applies to injuries or illnesses that occurred on the job.

Private Pay: If you don’t have insurance coverage or if the services you require are not covered, you can choose to pay for home health services out of pocket. The cost will depend on the specific services needed and the rates charged by the home health agency.

Before receiving home health services, it’s crucial to verify your eligibility and coverage options. This often involves discussing your insurance or payment method with the home health agency’s financial team. They can assist you in navigating the payment process and help answer any questions you may have about financing your care.

Always Best Care Senior Services offers a wide range of home health services to our patients. Whether the patient is recovering from illness or injury, or has a long-term condition, Always Best Care Senior Services provides skilled, compassionate, healthcare in the comfort of your home.

Our services include, but are not limited to:

  • IV Therapy: Intravenous therapy at home is a way to receive IV treatment your doctor has prescribed, without having to go to a hospital or clinic. Home IV Therapy is safe and effective alternative to in-patient care.
  • Chronic Disease Management: We help patients and their families manage disease process through care, education, and support.
  • Wound & Ostomy Care: We have Wound Care & Ostomy Specialist who provide the highest level of medical services for hard-to-heal wounds, as well as ostomy care, including colostomy, ileostomy, fistulas, and leaking tube/drain sites.
  • Therapy Services: Our physical, occupational, and speech therapists will come to you or your family member’s home to evaluate your loved one’s health and physical abilities and coordinate a complete therapeutic care plan with your loved one’s doctors to restore his or her best health.
  • Medication management, monitoring, and education
  • Post-Surgical Aftercare
  • Tracheotomy Care
  • Catheter Care
  • Cognitive Training
  • Diet Teaching
  • Injections
  • Cancer Care: If you or a loved one is recovering from surgery or undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatments your health care needs may be complex. Therapists and in-home health professionals will come to you to provide the care you need in the comfort of home. You can count on us for:
    • Pain and symptom management
    • Infusion therapy
    • Management of ports and access devices
    • Nutrition and dietary support
    • Resource planning for help with meals, transportation, applying for medical assistance, advocating with insurance companies, and support to stay comfortably at home
    • Follow up with your physician to assess treatment and progress

At your first visit a nurse will conduct an initial comprehensive assessment through a combination of interview and hands on assessment. The assessment will focus on identifying areas where you may benefit from education on self-care management in addition to providing hands on intervention. Your nurse will review all your medications and make sure you are taking them correctly and safely, as well as assist you in setting them up if needed. Your nurse will collaborate with your physician and determine the level of care you need. This approach helps to allow you to stay in the comfort of your home and actively engages you and your caregiver in your health care.

The frequency and type of home health visits and the services provide are based on your individualized plan of care. Your doctor may change your plan of care, increasing or decreasing the number of visits or services provided, in order to provide you with the best care possible.

An individual shall be considered to be “confined to his home” if the individual has a condition, due to an illness or injury, that restricts the ability of the individual to leave his or her home except with the assistance of another individual or the aid of a supportive devise (such as crutches, a cane, a wheelchair, or a walker), or if the individual has a condition such that leaving his or her home is medically contraindicated. While an individual does not have to be bedridden to be considered “confined to his home”, the condition of the individual should be such that there exists a normal inability to leave home or that leaving home requires a considerable and taxing effort by the individual.

Yes. If you or a loved one is interested in receiving skilled home health care services, speak with your primary care physician, nurse practitioner, or other health care provider.

Personal home care is often needed alongside skilled home health services, and we can help coordinate the two levels of care. A limited number of your personal home care hours may be covered by Medicare while you’re receiving clinical in-home care, but it’s generally paid separately or covered by private insurance or other government programs.
