DeKalb County, GA — DeKalb County, on Jan. 23, announced an upcoming lane closure on North Druid Hills Road and three road closure extensions connected to the Scott Boulevard Water Main Replacement Phase III.— The county has been closing lanes on North Druid Hills Road between Spring Creek Road and Willivee Drive since November...
DeKalb County, GA — DeKalb County, on Jan. 23, announced an upcoming lane closure on North Druid Hills Road and three road closure extensions connected to the Scott Boulevard Water Main Replacement Phase III.
— The county has been closing lanes on North Druid Hills Road between Spring Creek Road and Willivee Drive since November.
“On Friday, Jan. 24 at 7:30 a.m., DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management crews will require lane closures on North Druid Hills Road, between Spring Creek Road and Willivee Drive to tie in a new water main,” an advisory from the county says. “This work will take place from Friday, Jan. 24 through Sunday, Jan. 26 at 3 p.m. Motorists should expect delays stemming from the lane closures. Engineers and construction crews will work diligently to minimize the length of impact to residents and business owners.”
The lane closures originally began on Nov. 13 and were expected to last five weeks. The lanes re-opened on time, but the county removed the steel plates the week of Jan. 6. Days after removing steel plates from North Druid Hills Road between Spring Creek and Willivee Drive, the county announced on Jan. 15 it would resume “emergency repairs” on the road through Jan. 17.
The county later clarified that the “emergency” repairs were planned and “pre-scheduled in partnership with Georgia Power.”
— The county is extending three closures related to the highly disruptive Phase III of the Scott Boulevard Water Main Replacement Project. The project has been plagued with delays. It was supposed to be completed in March 2024. During an August 2024 meeting with angry and frustrated residents, that deadline was revised to October 2024. The county now says the closures related to the project will be extended through the end of February 2025.

Crews will continue construction activities associated with the Scott Boulevard Water Main Replacement Project Phase III. Motorists should expect delays stemming from the road closure. — The closure of Livingdstone Place, between East College Avenue and Craigie Avenue, will be extended through Feb. 28. Crews will continue construction activities associated with the Scott Boulevard Water Main Replacement Project Phase III. Motorists should expect delays stemming from the road closure. Precautionary signs and traffic flaggers will assist in moving local traffic safely around the road closure.
— The closure of Craigie Avenue, between Livingstone Place and Brown Place, will be extended through Feb. 28. Crews will continue work on the Scott Boulevard Water Main Replacement Project Phase III. Motorists should expect delays stemming from the road closure. Precautionary signs and traffic flaggers will assist in moving local traffic safely around the closed off portion of the road.

Life Time North Druid Hills opened on Dec. 16. It’s 65,000 square feet on eight acres. Its features include:
— A beach club with indoor and outdoor pools
— Nine pickleball courts (three indoor, six outdoor). The press release says, “Life Time is actually the number one indoor pickleball court provider across the country.” Life Time also has six outdoor tennis courts.
The press release says the setup includes a “courtside lounge and bar for viewing and post-match socials.”
— A “spacious” workout space with new machines
— A “Kids Academy” for parents who need someone to watch their children while they exercise
— Studios for cycling, Pilates, barre, yoga and other group classes

— Executive locker rooms with dry saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools and a cold plunge, which the press release says is the first cold plunge in the Atlanta market
