EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio — Doubles Bakery & Board Game Café in East Liverpool is set to open its doors on Wednesday, offering a unique blend of fresh baked treats, handcrafted drinks, and a variety of board games for rent.
The idea is to bring people together through food, fun and community.
"We opened it because we like playing board games and having family over and having something to do together, so we figured we’d bring that to the area,” owner Katie Lamparty said.
The concept is simple: for $3 per person, guests can play unlimited games.
"The money just goes towards buying new games and keeping up with the pieces and stuff,” Lamparty said.
Saturdays will feature themed game nights with a small fee per table and a reservation system.
Events vary weekly, ranging from Dungeons and Dragons to mystery nights. And when it comes to the menu, expect a full lineup of coffee options alongside freshly baked classics.
"Coffees, iced coffees, latte, macchiato, and then traditional baked goods like croissants, muffins,” owner Dartagnan Lamparty said.
One standout item is a giant 10-inch cookie -- ideal for sharing with your gaming group.
"Our 10-inch cookie is perfect for indulging yourself or, of course, bringing down a handful of friends renting a board game and then dividing it amongst yourselves,” Dartagnan Lamparty said
The owners say they want to create a warm, social environment where strangers become friends over a shared love of games.
"We want it to be packed in here,” Katie Lamparty said. “We want everyone to make new friends and even just bring a whole group of people or family. We’re gonna have family games plus euro style games like catan and things like that. We also have things like Monopoly and sorry."
Doubles is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, it's open until 9 p.m. Sunday’s hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
A grand opening is set for Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.
