The Ohio State Medical Board is looking into alleged violations against an Austintown doctor.
Dr. Gregory Facemyer, a family physician, was notified of a citation filed by the state medical board on July 9, looking into claims that the doctor allegedly engaged in two separate sexual relationships with two patients.
The board, an administrative agency, must receive a request from Dr. Facemyer for a Notice of Opportunity hearing date with the Medical Board's Hearing Examiners within 30 days of receiving a citation.
According to the citation, Facemyer is accused of "violating or attempting to violate, directly or indirectly, or assisting in or abetting the violation of, or conspiring to violate, any provisions of this chapter or any rule promulgated by the board,” of Ohio Revised Code and Prohibitions, Rule 4731-26-02 of Ohio Administrative Code.
Jerica Kent, Chief of Communications for the State Medical Board of Ohio, told 21 News that as of midday on Wednesday, the board has not received a request for a hearing from Dr. Facemyer. August 8 is the deadline to request a hearing.
If a hearing is requested, one will be scheduled. After the hearing is complete, the hearing examiner will prepare a Report & Recommendation that will be presented to the full board. The full board would make a final decision at an upcoming board meeting, Kent said.
Possible outcomes after the final decision by the board may include limiting, revoking, or suspending a license, refusing to issue a license or certificate, refusing to renew a license or certificate, refusing to reinstate a license or certificate, issuing a fine, reprimanding a licensee, or placing the licensee on probation.
21 News reached out to Dr. Facemyer to see if he planned to request a hearing, but has not heard back from him as of the publishing of this story.
