On Sunday, visit Café Rosé in Austintown for their first Halloween-themed crafts and sweets vendors market, plus a pet costume contest to help benefit a nonprofit.
Leah Sakacs, co-owner of Café Rosé, said the shop has always heavily emphasized supporting other small business owners.
“Where others may see competition, we see collaboration. And why wouldn’t we want others to be successful? We find it exciting and wonderful to see others’ dreams and goals come to fruition - and we hope they are just as excited for our success as we are for theirs,” said Sakacs.
She said it’s important for Café Rosé to support local businesses and artists because they make the Austintown community stand out.
“You will not find something as uniquely and individually crafted with passion and care like that which is made and designed by local business owners and artisans - whether it be a unique atmosphere at a new local coffee shop, a one-of-a-kind ceramic mug or crocheted toy or a new, bold coffee roast. We want to be able to provide other small business owners with the opportunity to share their product and their name; we want them to be successful,” said Sakacs.
Vendors will be set up from noon - 4 p.m. at Café Rosé, at 4491 Mahoning Ave. in Austintown.

There is no registration required for the pet costume contest which begins at 3 p.m., and all pets are welcome.
Sakacs said they’re hosting the pet costume contest to help raise awareness about Furrever & After Cat Sanctuary.
They’re asking participants for a $5 donation to enter the costume contest that goes toward supporting Furrever & After Cat Sanctuary’s mission, but it’s not required.
“Furrever & After Cat Sanctuary is a local nonprofit recently started by Leah Beatty. Not only are we pet lovers here at Cafe Rose, but we could easily tell how passionate and dedicated Leah is to the mission of her nonprofit. Starting a nonprofit is no easy task, and it truly takes someone with heart to put in the hard work to make a difference,” she said.
Right now, Furrever & After Cat Sanctuary works with fosters, but they’re in the process of seeking funding and support to secure a physical location for the cats that may need some extra care before being placed in a home.
“We hope with the awareness and funds we raise through the pet costume contest and basket raffle that we can help them get one step closer to achieving their goal,” Sakacs said.
