Home Care Hobe Sound, FL

They say that your golden years are the best years of your life. For most older Americans, that's how it should be - a time to relax, reflect, and live life in a familiar place. After all, senior citizens in the U.S. have worked tirelessly to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise families.

However, as seniors grow older, completing daily tasks like showering and enjoying activities such as visiting the historic Harbor Island gets harder without someone by their side. Unfortunately, many older Americans aren't able to rely on their adult children for help. The reality in today's world is that family members do not have the skills or time to dedicate to caring for their parents. That's where Always Best Care Senior Services comes in.

Our in-home care services are for people who prefer to stay at home as they grow older but need ongoing care that family or friends cannot provide. More and more older adults prefer to live far away from long-term, institutionalized facilities and closer to the place where they feel most comfortable - their home. Home care in Hobe Sound, FL is a safe, effective way to give your loved ones the care they need when they need it the most.

“I have been utilizing Always Best Care Senior Services for 2 years to care 24/7 for my elderly parents. I am very pleased with their services. The Owners and Office Staff bend over backwards to make sure that there is always coverage, to alert my parents Caregiver Team of any requests that I make, to advise me when there is an issue with my parents or their dog. The Caregiver Team working with my parents are all compassionate and caring, knowledgeable and skilled. Sadly, my Father passed away in the fall of 2020. Each of their Caregivers, the Owners and the Office Staff expressed to me that they would like to attend his memorial service when we are able to have it. During the weeks he was slipping away, the Caregiver team not only took care of my parents, they looked after me, gently reminding me to eat, rest or take a break. They truly care not only for my parents, but for all our family. I can’t begin to express what a comfort it has been to have them caring for my parents, especially during the pandemic when visits are prohibited. They are my eyes and ears. Working intimately with my parents, the Caregivers are very tuned in to even subtle changes. If you are in the market and looking for a senior services/home health care company, I strongly urge you to reach out to Always Best Care Senior Services. You’ll be happy you did.”

What is Non-Medical Senior Care in Hobe Sound, FL?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. So, if you've always wanted to eat at the local The Grove or visit Hobe Sound Nature Center, don't feel bad. Doing so is great for both you and your loved one.

At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

If you have been on the fence about non-medical home care, there has never been a better time than now to give your senior the care, assistance, and companionship they deserve.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Hobe Sound, FL, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

 Elderly Care Hobe Sound, FL

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your FL's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Hobe Sound, FL understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

Respite Care Hobe Sound, FL

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Caregivers who work at assisted living communities can also provide medication administration and personal care services for older adults.

Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation
  • Personal Care

Some of the most popular assisted living communities to consider in our area include the following:

Lilly Pulitzer, the iconic Palm Beach-born fashion brand, has opened its newest store, in Hobe Sound.

The store, at 11764 S.E. Dixie Highway, Unit 4, next to Posh Pineapple by Juno, had its grand opening Saturday.

"The Hobe Sound store was approached thoughtfully to create a relaxing environment where our customers can gather and connect as a community, in addition to shopping," said Michelle Kelly, chief executive of Lilly Pulitzer.

The store includes a selection of Lilly Pulitzer's colorful clothing and accessories, with a range of signature prints and resort-inspired designs. Services include in-store pickup, phone-in orders, appointments for shopping and reserved fitting rooms.

The new location also features a fitting room with a Hobe Sound-themed mural that was hand-painted by the Lilly Pulitzer Print Studio, Kelly said. The mural, in shades of blue and pink, features the iconic banyan trees that line Bridge Road.

Another fitting room was "hand-painted and hand-shelled," she said, with an ornate shell-framed mirror — "a very special, truly Lilly touch," Kelly noted.

Outside of the store, there is a landscaped seating nook, she said.

The brand loves Hobe Sound, Kelly said, calling it "the epitome of laidback luxury and one of Florida's best kept secrets."

"We also have a few long-time company insiders who live and spend time in Hobe Sound, and they really brought forward the special nature and beauty of their town," she said.

As the company has looked to expand its footprint, it saw the opportunity to expand north into Martin County, Kelly said.

Lilly Pulitzer was created in the early 1960s in Palm Beach by its eponymous founder, who designed and wore colorful prints to cover fruit juice stains on her clothes as she worked at the juice stand she opened in 1959.

Her dresses and prints were so popular with residents and visitors on the island that she launched the brand, which became synonymous with bright, tropical patterns and since has become a staple in resort wear.

While the brand launched with dresses, it has expanded to include accessories and home goods, including bags, scarves, swimwear, candles, office supplies and planners.

There are four standalone Lilly Pulitzer stores in Palm Beach County: at 240 Worth Ave. in Palm Beach; 3101 PGA Blvd., Space F11 in The Gardens Mall; 601 E. Atlantic Ave., Suite 103, in Delray Beach; and 6000 Glades Road in the Town Center at Boca Raton mall. In addition, there are several Lilly Pulitzer-authorized retailers, including C.Orrico at 336 S. County Road in Palm Beach.

The Hobe Sound store joins Matilda's, a Lilly Pulitzer signature store in Stuart at 15 S.W. Flagler Ave.

The Hobe Sound Lilly Pulitzer store is open noon to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Saturday. For more information, go to lillypulitzer.com.

A 75-acre 'controlled burn' wildfire in Hobe Sound contained by late Monday night

...

HOBE SOUND − A controlled burn that “jumped a canal” Monday in Hobe Sound near Bridge Road and U.S. 1 was reported to be 90% contained Tuesday morning and no threat to homes, according to Martin County sheriff’s and fire officials.

Around 5 p.m. Monday, Florida Forest Service crews asked Martin County Fire Rescue to help douse a 75-acre wildfire in the area of the 5400 block of Southeast 138th Street, close to Jonathan Dickinson State Park.

Fire rescue crews responded with six units, including two brush trucks and spent about four hours containing the blaze before being called off, according to Martin County Fire Rescue’s Facebook page.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit also assisted Monday in part by dropping water on the fire using an Airbus equipped with a 144-gallon Bambi bucket, according to sheriff’s officials.

At the same time, Forest Service crews were cutting trench lines to avoid any further fire jumps, sheriff’s officials stated in a Facebook post.

HOBE SOUND, Fla. — A man was arrested Friday after he punched a 17-year-old Hobe Sound in the face several times after breaking into her house, deputies said.

The suspect, Antonio Amaya-Guevara, 42, was later taken into custody in Palm Beach County.

"She's a quiet girl. She waves to me here and there," neighbor Germaine Patterson said.

He said the victim was his friend's daughter.

"I asked him what happened, and he told me somebody broke into his house and put his hands on his daughter," Patterson said.

The Martin County Sheriff's Office said at about 2 p.m. Amaya-Guevara broke in through a back door while the teen was home alone.

Deputies said she heard noises and thought her dad had hired a maintenance man.

It wasn't until she FaceTimed her dad that she realized what was happening.

"She is still on FaceTime with dad, snapping screenshots of the suspect as the suspect is leaving," Martin County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy John Budensiek said. "At some point, the suspect became more and more agitated."

Deputies said she followed him down the road and that's when investigators said he attacked her and took off.

"He came back and punched her at least three times and snatched her cellphone out of her hands," Budensiek said. "That started the fight that led to the 911 call."

She was taken to the Jupiter Medical Center with minor bruises and abrasions on her face and was released.

WPTV spoke with a person who was at the teen's house and said that the teen was doing OK.

Budensiek credits the teen for taking the pictures and giving information to the deputies about Amaya-Guevara and the car he was driving.

"Have we been seeing a string of burglaries? Do we feel like they're connected?" WPTV reporter Joel Lopez asked.

"We don't know. We had a similar type of burglary about a mile from that location about three months or so ago. So we're not positive it's the same person but there are some similarities," Budensiek said. "This is not normal for our area so this is alarming to us."

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office said its detectives arrested him with the help of the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and Department of Homeland Security.

"Sitting at home now knowing that this happened how are you feeling?" Lopez asked.

"That's scary. I'm glad I have a dog outside ... to alert me," neighbor Josellin Gonzalez said. "That's very sad. The fact that she had to defend herself is very sad."

Deputies said Amaya-Guevara is from Honduras and reentered the United States illegally in 2023.

He is being charged with occupied burglary, battery robbery by sudden snatching and child abuse.

His bond will be set at $800,000, and he will have an immigration detainer.

If you have ever experienced one of Discovery Land Company’s comfort stations, you know that a round on one of its courses is about so much more than golf. The once sleepy South Florida town of Hobe Sound has become the epicenter of elite golf development in North America. Currently, 162 holes of spectacular private golf, designed by 13 of the game’s most-celebrated architects, are planned to be built within a 10-mile radius of Hobe Sound. Right in the heart of all the excitement is Discovery Land Company’s latest private club and community, Atlantic Fields.

Discovery Land Company, one of the world’s leading developers of private clubs and communities, has built its brand by bringing an incredible level of innovation and creativity to each of its properties. Atlantic Fields’ Tom Fazio-designed golf course will certainly provide a golf experience that equals any of its neighbors. However, it is Atlantic Fields’ commitment to honoring Hobe Sound’s “Old Florida” heritage and unique sense of place that will truly set the community apart from the crowd.

Less than 30 minutes from Palm Beach International Airport, Atlantic Fields shares an entrance drive with Michael Jordan’s celebrated Grove XXIII and borders the spectacular unspoiled beauty of Atlantic Ridge State Park. Atlantic Fields also contains the historic Hobe Sound polo grounds, giving the property a rich equestrian heritage and a welcoming ambiance.

The expansive 1,500-acre community will include a thrilling championship-caliber golf course and an innovative 10-hole short course, as well as a revolutionary golf performance center created by Discovery. Other amenities will include extensive sports and outdoor recreation facilities, including pickleball, padel and tennis courts; a comprehensive Outdoor Pursuits program (Discovery’s signature outdoor recreation and adventure experience); a world-class equestrian program; an organic farm with true farm-to-table dining; and state-of-the-art spa and wellness facilities.

With just 317 homes, Atlantic Fields will be an intimate community where like-minded families live healthy, active lives, embracing nature and enjoying all the convenience and fun South Florida has to offer. Its reassuring sense of security and well-being combined with Atlantic Fields’ genuine, attentive service and close-knit camaraderie will contribute to a lighthearted, carefree ambiance where members share precious time with friends and loved ones, creating memories and building legacies that will span generations.

“Discovery Land Company is working alongside the world’s top experts to incorporate the four pillars of well-being—movement, nutrition, sleep and relaxation—into the program. It’s going to be one of the most comprehensive in the world,” says Mike Meldman, chairman and founder of Discovery Land Company. “The craving for communities like Atlantic Fields is stronger than ever. What people really want now, particularly after COVID, are connections with their family, with their friends, with their spouses, even with themselves. Everything about Atlantic Fields supports building relationships and making deeper connections, an emphasis on well-being and celebrating sustainability,” Meldman continues. “We are all about getting people together, making lifelong friendships, building bonds and sharing experiences that we all will cherish for the rest of our lives. This includes neighbors, family members and the club’s staff.”

Ken Bakst, developer of Friar’s Head on Long Island, New York, has submitted a masterplan for a new development in Martin County, Florida, which includes a 36-hole golf facility designed by Whitman, Axland & Cutten (WAC Golf).

The plan includes two eighteen-hole golf courses and a 175-acre practice facility comprising a 10-hole full-length practice layout, a 12-hole short course, a massive undulating putting green, an extensive short-game area, and a 360-degree long-game practice area.

Bakst is the visionary behind The Ranch. He wants to leave the land mostly untouched, while also creating a golf experience like no other.

“For the last decade Kenny had been searching for the perfect land for the next golf experience, and in summer 2021 he found it!” says Keith Cutten. “A nearly 4,000-acre rustic ranch 20 minutes from the beaches of Hobe Sound, and a short drive from Palm Beach Island. The Bakst family instantly fell in love with the rugged and picturesque site.”

Historically named the Calusa Creek Ranch, the site is “incredibly diverse with grassy pastures, wetlands, oak hammocks, pines flats and cypress domes,” says Cutten. “It is still an active ranch, currently home to approximately 800 Brangus cattle, and Kenny intends to continue to operate a significant cow calf operation on the property. It’s also a haven for outdoor enthusiasts with 1.5 miles of frontage on the St. Lucie Canal.

“Most mornings The Ranch is blanketed in a breathtaking fog and as the blanket of mist lifts it unveils an abundance of wildlife that calls the land home. Deer, turkey, osprey, fox and many others will have plenty of room to thrive as The Ranch transitions, and that’s because more than 90 per cent of the land will be preserved as open space, while more than 65 per cent will remain bona fide agriculture for cattle and farming.”

The excavation of two large fishing lakes outside of the golf footprint will generate sand for course construction.

“There will not be any cuts into the existing landforms except where we choose to incorporate creeks and ditches into the design of the golf courses,” says Cutten. “It is our goal to create natural looking landforms which accentuate inherent features for the benefit of golf and it’s a rare opportunity to have so much land to work with, which will allow the most natural and sensitive areas of the site to remain unaltered and serve as beautiful landscape features.”

The routing of the courses and practice facilities was a collaborative effort between all three WAC Golf partners and Bakst.

“It was most definitely a fun and creative process,” says Cutten. “But, as you can imagine, it was also incredibly challenging to zero in on where we would plan everything when starting with 6.1 square miles of land, without any limitations on where or how much land we could utilise.”

The masterplan was submitted to Martin County almost two years after Bakst identified the land.

“The site is so vast that it would have allowed for many options,” says Cutten. “However, Kenny’s vision is to preserve all of the natural areas of the 3,900-acre ranch, 95 per cent of which will remain as green open space. Locating golf in the southern third of the site, far removed from both people and traffic, will provide golfers with an incredibly remote and serene experience in uninhibited nature.”

Once the team had settled on that area, design work began. “We would have plans spread out on a dining room table for weeks at a time,” says Cutten. “Then we would share options with Kenny to get his thoughts, which, not surprising to us, were always invaluable. It took nearly a year to settle on our current routings and we are still working on minor refinements every time we are on site together.

“The flow of holes was very important to us, as was the distinctiveness of the two courses. The core principles of routing – changes of direction, wind and sun angles and so on – were of course critical, but exploring the site’s diverse habitats, while preserving their best parts, was equally significant. We simply let the site inform our decision making, and did not hesitate to make adjustments in the field where the inclusion of site assets could further enhance the journey.”

The two eighteen-hole layouts – East and West – both max out at around 7,500 yards.

“The site characteristics will help to differentiate the courses from each other, and we will employ traditional design elements reflecting their differing landscapes,” says Cutten. “One course will be broader and bolder, with sweeping views across the entire golf course, while the holes on the other course will weave in and out of upland pines and prairie land to provide a more intimate walk through nature.”

The practice areas were given the team’s utmost attention too, with Cutten saying nothing comparable has ever been built. “That’s a bold statement, but Kenny is known for his love of practice and belief that great practice facilities are a source of great enjoyment and absolutely critical to providing golfers of all abilities with the means of learning how to take their games from the range to the course.

“The Ranch is a major undertaking, both in project scale and vision. We have been gifted a great opportunity to deliver something truly special for golf in Florida and America. We do not take this opportunity lightly and have crafted a team to help us deliver.”

Earthworks for mass grading, drainage and irrigation could begin as early as autumn 2023, with construction of the courses and practice facilities anticipated to begin in winter 2024.
