An eatery serving up some of the best late night eats in the Garden State is gearing up for expansion.
Iffy’s Hot Chicken, a fried chicken restaurant in Burlington, is opening new locations in Edison and Clementon, owner Iffy Shah told NJ Advance Media.
The Edison restaurant will be located at 120 Talmadge Rd. and the Clementon outpost will take over a space that formerly housed a Little Caesar’s at 1265 Blackwood-Clementon Rd.
Both restaurants are slated to open within the next two months as part of Iffy’s plan to launch four new spots in 2025. The brand also plans to cross state lines and open in Bristol, Pa. and Long Island before year’s end.
“We have these four locations opening before the end of the year,” Shah said. “And we have another 25 to 30 other franchisees that are on board.”
The Edison and Clementon locations will feature indoor dining areas and new menu items like mac and cheese and cauliflower bites.
The brand has gained local prominence for its wings, tenders, sliders, loaded fries and more since opening in Burlington in 2023. In 2024, Iffy’s opened its second location in Brooklyn.
“Although we have ‘hot chicken’ in our name, we more than just hot chicken.“ Shah said. “We sell more regular chicken tenders and chicken sandwiches than anything.”
Shah, a New Jersey native, pointed to his upbringing in family-owned chicken business as a catalyst for opening Iffy’s. He also understands the importance of expanding steadily.
“Our breading, seasonings and sauces are made in-house, we get our brioche buns from a local bakery and chicken from a local farm. We want to expand but we’re taking our time so that we don’t compromise our quality,” Shah said. “Burlington is a small town compared to some other places so if we are doing so well here, I think the other locations can do even better.”
Shah credited delivery service apps for the brand’s boom in Burlington — an area that the owner admitted he thought would only serve as a testing ground for future locations.
“We’re number one on DoorDash in the area right now and it’s been really big for us,” Shah said. “I’ve been around restaurants for many years and I’ve never seen online ordering work like it does in Burlington.”
Iffy’s is open daily from 11 a.m to midnight. The chicken eatery landed on NJ.com’s roundup of the 27 best N.J. restaurants for late-night eats.
