BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —Nanu's Hot Chicken has opened its first Bucks County location on Street Road.
Owners Muhammad Faisal and Ikram Rashid recently opened the location at 1947 Street Rd. They have two other locations in Drexel and Chestnut Street in Philadelphia.
Nanu's Hot Chicken is known for its famous halal Nashville hot chicken.
The owners said Nanu's Hot Chicken is crafted with love and care, offering a tantalizingly rich taste that promises to delight the palate with every bite.
The menu features halal Nashville-style hot chicken tenders, sandwiches, loaded fries, sides, desserts, smoothies, and catering options. Guests are invited to test their taste buds with homemade spice-coated chicken tenders ranging from no spice to reaper, in regular or hot honey.
Store hours will be Monday through Sunday, seven days a week, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.
"We are bringing the heat to Bensalem," Faisal said. "I live in Bucks County near this location and love my local community. I know this area, I know our neighbors and I know my food —I am excited to bring this all together. This is a win-win as it lets me bring my community the food that I love. Nanu’s was created by four brothers who had a dream to make real change happen in the world and who had a passion for helping those in need, including Nanu, who was born with Down Syndrome. Imran, Ikram, Haroon, and Nanu Rashid created Nanu's in 2023 and opened their first location at 2210 Cottman Avenue in July of that year.
The brothers started the first location, then decided to expand the business, and began searching for partners. Muhammad Faisal was the first to join their team.
Faisal now owns three locations —starting with 3301 Market Street aka Drexel University in Philadelphia, which opened in December 2023.
He went on to open 4407 Chestnut Street in April 2024. He celebrates his third location with Bucks County this week, at 1947 Street Road.
He has plans to open a fourth location shortly.
Including Faisal's restaurants, Nanu's has quickly grown to include eight locations throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, with a ninth on the way!

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —With a community meeting next Tuesday on changes that could impact middle school students, residents are raising concerns about just what the Bensalem Township School District may be proposing.
Residents reacted this week on the Bensalem Proud Facebook page as the school district prepares for Tuesday's meeting from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Bensalem High School Auditorium.
The school district and an architect will host presentations on the following:
One anonymous poster said the meeting flyer has caused a lot of confusion on how the project would affect the township's schools.
"They're going to tell the community that the Bensalem population is going to be declining, which if you've been around town the traffic and packed classrooms say otherwise," the anonymous poster stated.
The poster said that 20 years ago, the school district closed Armstrong Middle School because of a potential population decline which the poster said never happened.
"The closing of Armstrong led to an unexpected major impact at the elementary level as 6th grade was forced into the elementary schools," the poster said. "Fast forward 20 years and here we are again with the district following the same game plan."
One resident hoped that the outcome of the meeting would be school upgrades and that no schools would be closed.
School Director Stephanie Gonzalez Ferrandez responded that there could be the possibility of one elementary school closing with the middle schools expanding and the sixth grade being moved to the middle school. That would free up space in all of the elementary schools.
"I hope the superintendent will talk more about this on Oct. 1," the school director said. "There is an option in which none of the elementary school schools would close. My understanding is that it is related to costs."
Ferrandez stated that the school board has been considering upgrading and expanding the middle schools since before COVID-19.
"Because of that, some people feel that the district stopped doing major repairs/ improvements to Rush unless they were absolutely necessary," she said. "I wasn’t on the board the whole time so I can’t personally confirm that. For whatever reason, at this point, based on what has been presented in the public business committee meetings, Rush requires a lot of work. I certainly understand how it looks to some people that the district purposely set up Rush for closure. However, I really strongly encourage people to come out on Tuesday and hear all of the details."

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — Get ready teen drivers! The 18th Annual Bucks County High School Seatbelt Safety Challenge, organized by TMA Bucks and presented by NJM Insurance Group, has officially begun!
This year’s challenge will once again determine which high school in Bucks County leads in seatbelt usage. Plus, the Teen Driver Safety Video PSA Challenge powered by Comcast is also back, the Bucks County transportation agency said.
Baseline surveys of student driver seatbelt use have been conducted at every public and private high school in Bucks County.
Surveys were conducted safely and without the knowledge of the student body or administration to ensure the most accurate data sampling.
Each school’s result is being forwarded to them with an invitation to participate in the challenge.
“Our Bucks County High School Seatbelt Safety Challenge continues to yield impressive results, with every participating school achieving over 80 percent seatbelt compliance for the second straight year,” said TMA Bucks executive director Stephen Noll. “The combined average compliance rate also exceeded 90 percent for the seventh time in the last eight fall surveys, a testament to the dedication of our student drivers. While we’re thrilled with the progress, there’s still room for improvement, and we believe the students can push that percentage even higher by encouraging more of their peers to buckle up.”
The Bucks County High School Seatbelt Safety Challenge encourages participating high schools to raise their student driver seatbelt usage over the year as various student groups at each school work to actively promote seatbelt use within the student body using posters, t-shirts, school-wide announcements, and other creative messages.
In spring, an unannounced follow-up survey is conducted at each of the participating schools.
The school with the highest overall percentage in seatbelt use and the school with the greatest percentage increase in seatbelt use are both awarded with perpetual trophy plaques and $500 cash grants for safety-related use by the school.
Back again this year as part of the initiative is the Teen Driver Safety Video PSA Challenge powered by Comcast.
As part of the Seatbelt Challenge, all Bucks County high schools have the opportunity to produce and submit a 30-second video PSA on teen driver safety.
It can deal with any aspect including seatbelts, texting, distracted driving, speeding, or impaired driving. The school selected as the winner will get a $500 cash grant and their video will play on Comcast networking.
Videos must be uploaded to YouTube with the link emailed to [email protected] by April 4, 2025, to be eligible to win.
NJM Insurance Group is the presenting sponsor this year with supporting sponsorships coming from AAA Mid-Atlantic, Automotive Training Center, Bucks County Community College, Jefferson Bucks Hospital, Bowman, Stark & Stark, and Visit Bucks County.
