Who May Be Liable for Burn Injuries After a Fire in Bridgeport, PA?
A property owner, business operator, contractor, manufacturer, or another party may be liable if negligence contributed to a Bridgeport fire that caused burn injuries. Responsibility depends on how the blaze started and which party had control over the source of the danger.
When investigators determine where and how the fire originated, their findings may help establish what happened. Fire reports, photographs, surveillance footage, and physical evidence can provide information about the cause of the blaze and the parties involved.
If a dangerous condition on the property contributed to the fire, Pennsylvania premises liability law may apply. A property owner or other party in control of the premises may be responsible if an unsafe condition should have been addressed.
If defective electrical components, machinery, equipment, or vehicle parts contributed to the blaze, a product liability claim may also be possible. Maintenance records and an examination of damaged equipment can help determine whether a defect played a role.
As treatment continues, burn injuries may lead to significant medical and financial losses. Compensation may include hospital expenses, surgery, rehabilitation, lost income, pain and suffering, scarring, and other losses related to the injury.
Because a commercial property may involve several businesses, insurers, or property interests, more than one insurance policy could apply. The available coverage may depend on property ownership, business operations, and what investigators determine caused the fire.
Once more information becomes available, a personal injury lawyer can assess whether the findings support a claim and identify the parties who may be responsible. An attorney can also address legal or insurance issues that develop during the claim.
