UPDATE – August 2026: The wait is over for Delco shoppers. L.L.Bean opened its first Delaware County store on May 8, 2026, at Concordville Town Centre in Glen Mills.
Customers lined up before dawn at 901 Byers Drive, with the first 100 through the doors taking home an exclusive Glen Mills Grand Opening Boat and Tote.
The day brought free custom Bean Boot laces, prize wheel spins and family activities that ran until 3 p.m.
The Glen Mills store is L.L.Bean’s sixth in Pennsylvania, joining locations in Center Valley, Erie, King of Prussia, Mechanicsburg and Pittsburgh.
The nearest one had been King of Prussia, a drive that Delco customers no longer have to make.
The timing carries a certain symmetry. The Maine retailer arrived in Glen Mills months after rival Eddie Bauer went bankrupt and shuttered every location, including one in a nearby Glen Mills shopping center.
After more than a century of competition between the two outdoor brands, only one is still opening doors.
Glen Mills is one of eight stores L.L.Bean is opening nationwide in 2026, with another eight to 10 planned for 2027, according to the company.

L.L. Bean is expanding nationally, and it’s targeting Glen Mills as a new location, its first store in Delaware County, writes Emma Dooling for Philadelphia Business Journal.
It plans to open a store in May 2026 at the Concordville Town Center in Glen Mills.
The outdoor apparel retailer has a 20,300-square-foot stand-alone store planned for the Town Center at the corner of U.S. Route 1 and Evergreen Drive, according to a leasing brochure for the shopping center.
The Concordville Town Center is anchored by an Acme. Other big-name retailers there are Target, Home Depot, PetSmart, and a dual Marshalls and Home Goods store.
The new store would join two other existing L.L. Bean stores in the Philadelphia area, at the King of Prussia Mall, and The Promenade at Sagemore in Marlton, New Jersey.
Based in Freeport, Maine, L.L. Bean sells apparel, footwear, home goods, and outdoor gear.
The 113-year-old retailer plans to open eight stores nationwide in 2026, in Pennsylvania, Alabama, Tennessee, Minnesota, Ohio, Illinois, Colorado, and Michigan.
L.L. Bean Chief Retail Officer Greg Elder said the company is entering new markets and investing in experience-driven stores to give customers more opportunities to connect with the L.L. Bean brand.

Fearless Restaurants has closed Testa Rossa in Glen Mills, less than two years after the casual Italian-American spot opened its doors, reports Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The restaurant served its final customers on Sunday, wrapping up a run that began in December 2024.
Sydney Grims, Fearless Restaurants’ director of business development, said sales at the Delaware County location never gained the momentum the company was hoping for.
Testa Rossa filled a 6,500-square-foot space at 919 Baltimore Pike in the Shoppes at Brinton Lake, a spot formerly occupied by Ruby’s Diner.
Fearless had originally eyed the location for a second outpost of its Wayne restaurant, Rosalie, but pivoted in late 2023 and built out the more casual Testa Rossa concept instead.
Designed by Stokes Architecture + Design, the 280-seat restaurant embraced a colorful, 1960s-inspired look, with geometric patterns and bold red accents setting the tone. The menu leaned on house-made pizzas, pastas, and other Italian-American staples.
About 30 employees worked at the Glen Mills location, and Fearless has offered all of them positions at nearby concepts, including Rosalie and White Dog Cafe, both located in the same shopping center.
The company had also planned a second Testa Rossa in Wayne, inside the former Bertucci’s on Lancaster Avenue.
Those plans changed earlier this year, though, when Fearless announced Martini & Roz, a contemporary Italian concept slated to open this fall. Grims said the Glen Mills closure didn’t factor into that decision.
Fearless Restaurants‘ portfolio also includes Moshulu, Louie Louie, Autograph Brasserie, Daddy O, Tuckers Tavern, and Triple Crown at The Radnor Hotel.
For now, the former dining space in Glen Mills sits without an announced replacement tenant.
