RAHWAY, NJ — After Thanksgiving, Ms. Michelle Perez's class at Roosevelt Elementary School began exploring holidays celebrated around the world. The children crafted suitcases from cereal boxes and created passports as they "traveled" to various countries to learn about significant holidays.
The students engaged in a variety of activities, including listening to and reading stories, completing comprehension exercises, watching videos, learning fascinating facts about each holiday, and making crafts related to the celebrations.
Ms. Perez and her students worked diligently, but also had a great time discovering the unique traditions associated with each holiday.

The holidays studied included Diwali, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas in Russia, Las Posadas, Christmas in the USA, Three Kings Day, Chinese New Year, and Ramadan/Eid.
On Friday, January 10, the lesson concluded with the children proudly bringing home their suitcases to share with their families. They were excited to showcase the different holidays they had learned about and the creative crafts they made to represent each celebration.
