Etiska Lorinda Chavis, affectionately known as “Tissy,” was born on November 21, 1977, and peacefully passed away on September 27, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, memories, and people who will forever carry her in their hearts.
Tissy was a proud graduate of Purnell Swett High School, Class of 1996. She was a Christian woman who found joy in the simple things in life. She loved shopping, listening to music, spending time with her friends and family, loving on others, and most of all, playing with her grandbaby.
Tissy took great pride in being a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She had a heart for the people she loved, and her presence brought a special kind of warmth and love to those around her.
Of everything in her life, what Tissy was most proud of was her two baby girls, Jazmine and Josie, and her precious grandson, Jysaiah. When Jysaiah came into her life, he quickly became her whole world. The love she had for him was undeniable, and the memories they made together will forever be treasured by her family.
And if you knew Tissy, then you already know one of her favorite little sayings:
“I meannnnn, goodnight.” ??
Though her time here was not long enough, Tissy leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love that will continue through her children, grandson, family, and everyone who had the blessing of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Jessie Lee and Chester Chavis; paternal grandparents, George and Agnes Chavis; maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Jessie Bell Locklear; and niece, Chaselon Chavis.
Tissy leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Jazmine Hunt of Prospect and Josie Lowry of Prospect; her beloved grandson, Jysaiah Lowry-Addison of Prospect; her bonus daughter Madison Hallman, her siblings, Monica Hunt of Baltimore, Maryland; Tisha Locklear of Sterling Heights, Michigan; Gregory Locklear of Prospect; Credence Harris (Sherrie Harris) of Union Chapel; and Val Chavis of Pembroke; stepfather, Larkie Lowry of Union Chapel; stepsister, Crystal Locklear of Red Springs; nieces, Eden, Hannah, London Chavis, and Shelby Comeau; nephews, Brennen, Tyler, and Beau Harris; along with numerous extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will miss her dearly.
