Home Care Inman, SC

They say that your golden years are the best years of your life. For most older Americans, that's how it should be - a time to relax, reflect, and live life in a familiar place. After all, senior citizens in the U.S. have worked tirelessly to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise families.

However, as seniors grow older, completing daily tasks like showering and enjoying activities such as visiting the historic Windmill Hill gets harder without someone by their side. Unfortunately, many older Americans aren't able to rely on their adult children for help. The reality in today's world is that family members do not have the skills or time to dedicate to caring for their parents. That's where Always Best Care Senior Services comes in.

Our in-home care services are for people who prefer to stay at home as they grow older but need ongoing care that family or friends cannot provide. More and more older adults prefer to live far away from long-term, institutionalized facilities and closer to the place where they feel most comfortable - their home. “I was looking for 24 hr home care for my mother who was living alone after my Dad's passing. My mother also had Dementia. ABC was recommended by her PCP. I was immediately impressed with my 1st meeting with their Senior Program Coordinator. She took detailed notes about the daily routine. My mind was set at ease when she explained their COVID protocols which included wiping down surfaces, mask requirements and unannounced periodic supervisor check-ins on caregivers. Daily each caregiver maintained meticulous documentation on my mother's daily routines - when she got up - what she ate. They also handled mail sorting and other sensitive confidential information. I was particularly impressed with the professional and caring demeanor of the caregivers. Shift changes overlapped allowing caregivers time to share pertinent information and there was often training from senior caregivers to junior team members about handling transfers and safety. ABC is a first class well run home care providing company.”

“When my father fell and broke his arm, we needed help quickly as my mother has Alzheimers. We meet with Bruce on Monday and by Wednesday, we had caregivers in the home 7/24. ABC has some fantastic employees and they have been a welcome addition to the home during this transition to Assisted Living. Bruce and his team answered our call day and night and responded quickly and professionally. There are always bumps when you are starting a new project, but it's how you handle them that is important. “So I have known Bruce Meyer for quite some time now. He came at a time where I was struggling to find a job. God sure does work in amazing ways. He was the reason I said yes to the job. It wasn’t just another interview where they just hired anybody. It was a place where I could feel comfortable and not nervous and leave the “interview” knowing I had found a wonderful place to work for. I’ll never forget that day when I agreed to take it because of the words he spoke to me. He said “God is calling you to walk through the doors. “ That alone will tell you how wonderful he is and the care that he gives to those he believes is a good fit for the job. I have been working for Always Best Care since September of 2020. Ever since I started I knew I was in the right hands with the best company I could have ever asked for. They go above and beyond to give exceptional care/ support to the clients, families, and staff.I have heard nothing but positive feedback from anyone I come In contact to that receive their services. What is Non-Medical Senior Care in Inman, SC?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. So, if you've always wanted to eat at the local Palmetto Restaurant or visit Bush House, don't feel bad. Doing so is great for both you and your loved one.

At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

If you have been on the fence about non-medical home care, there has never been a better time than now to give your senior the care, assistance, and companionship they deserve.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Inman, SC, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

 Elderly Care Inman, SC

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your SC's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.
 Senior Care Inman, SC

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Inman, SC understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

Respite Care Inman, SC

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Caregivers who work at assisted living communities can also provide medication administration and personal care services for older adults.

Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation
  • Personal Care
 Caregivers Inman, SC

At Always Best Care, our representatives can match your senior's emotional, physical, and financial needs with viable assisted living communities nearby. Results are based on comparative data, so you can select the best choice for you or your loved one.

Always Best Care works closely with local senior living communities to gain valuable knowledge that we then use to help seniors and their loved ones make informed decisions. This information can include basic care and rent, resident availability, and services provided. Because Always Best Care is compensated by these communities, we provide senior living referral services at no extra cost to you.

Some of the most popular assisted living communities to consider in our area include the following:

  • Oakridge Community Care Home
  • Golden Age
  • Inman Healthcare
  • Assisted Living Services

The city of Inman has partnered with Main Street South Carolina in a program that city leaders hope will revitalize its downtown and prompt economic growth.

Main Street South Carolina has for 40 years served as a technical assistance program intended to empower communities as they revitalize their traditional business districts, encouraging economic development and historic preservation.

Inman Planning Director April Williams said the city benefits from tools and resources such as design and marketing assistance provided through the program, which offered under the auspices of the Municipal Association of South Carolina.

“It’s a holistic approach to help us look at the program as a whole and not just hyper focused on one thing,” she said. “For example, we have events throughout the year, but we just can’t focus on these and bringing people here for only a few times a year. We need more daily and weekly engagement, and the leadership team will help us grow these aspects of our community.”

“They have done great work in many S.C. cities and there is a strong push to let everyone know who they are and that they’ve been here for a while,” said Williams.

Williams said the city initiated interest in the program after she started in her current position in January 2022.

“This is something the city leadership has been wanting to do for a while, but the administrator didn’t have the bandwidth,” she added. “This was one of the things I was tasked with when I joined the city, and now it is great timing to tie into this program that will heavily benefit our community.”

The Main Street resource team will assist with making sure Inman is more recognizable as a community and community development partner, said Williams.

The city is in the data collection process, surveying the communities in Inman for feedback on what residents would like to see in their city. The Main Street resource team will be meeting with stakeholders and holding town hall meetings, in addition to collecting data from city residents at the end of February through early March. They will then compile a presentation on the next steps in the program process and what they need to be successful, said Williams.

“This program will be more of an affirmation that we were already going in the right direction as a city with all the growth and work leadership has done,” said Williams. “It’ll be nice to hear we are doing the right things but also what else we can do to improve by taking the necessary steps to get there. This type of program also really highlights the importance of networking and connections.”

INMAN, S.C. (WSPA) – Over four years ago, Holliday Brewing opened in Spartanburg’s Drayton Mills marketplace. Now they are getting ready to open Inman’s first brewery, targeting mid-September for their Prospect Street location.

It will be home to 40 beer taps and a full bar. The kitchen will be run by the owners of Spartanburg’s Burgers and Bakery restaurant.

It’s something co-owner Jim Holliday has been looking forward to for some time.

”We’ll have a full restaurant here. We’re on three and a half acres, it’s a 9,000-square-foot building. We’ll be able to seat about 250 people. We have plenty of open space, we have plenty of green space outside. In the future, we plan on putting in a concert stage out here. We have plenty of outside seating. We also have a nice private section upstairs that you can rent out for private parties.”

That private section is open to anyone if there’s no event; it will be a hang-out spot with couches.

The actual brewing is also moving here. Brewer and co-owner John Holliday said that more space means the ability to increase production.

“The Spartanburg facility, I could brew five times a week and I would put out 10 barrels. I could do five times a week here and I’ll put out 100 barrels. So we’ll go distribution Spartanburg, we’re going to go into Greenville and Rock Hill for now, and then state-wide hopefully at the end of the year.”

That is allowing Holliday to participate in this year’s Fall for Greenville, contributing a beer and a seltzer to the beer garden.

More space also means more chances for John to experiment.

”I want to work more on my hazy beers. They’re a little tricky to get going and it’s a lot if fun brewing and getting all those new recipes.”

Jim said that it’s not just the Holliday brothers who are looking forward to the grand opening.

Each year, millions upon millions of Christmas lights go up around the Palmetto State. We’ve rounded up some of the biggest, best, and brightest Christmas lights in South Carolina so you can put them on your bucket list. From drive-thru displays to epic holiday, festivals at some of the state's biggest attractions, the Palmetto State comes alight in bright, twinkling, festive lights all holiday season long.

What's the best Christmas event in South Carolina?

While we love them all, there's something truly magical that happens at Brookgreen Gardens in the winter. Each year, South Carolina’s number one outdoor attraction, Brookgreen Gardens, delivers the best winter hike in South Carolina and it takes place at night under the glow of flickering candles and twinkling lights. For a handful of magical nights this holiday season, Brookgreen Gardens is open at night for a spectacular lights display, making it all the more special. Wander freely through the many sculpture gardens and gaze in awe as the lights shine perfectly to illuminate many of the sculptures and fountains. Each afternoon, more than 2,700 candles are hand lit throughout the garden; some are even floating in the many reflecting pools. It's such a magical display and a wonderful setting for the best winter hike in South Carolina!

In addition to the above Christmas lights displays in South Carolina, these drive-thru displays are wholly unique to the Palmetto State. What we love the most is that you don't even need to get out of your warm, cozy car to enjoy them! Our favorite is James Island County Park, which is the largest in the state and features more than two million lights and three miles of displays to drive through. After, visitors can park and enter the enchanted light trail for even more Christmas light displays, visit with Santa, shop for sweets and more, roast marshmallows, hop aboard the festival train, and take a spin on the holiday carousel.

INMAN — New owners of an old coffee shop in northwest Spartanburg County updated the space into a more full-scale shop and are now ready to open to the public.

The Pardo Café is set to open on June 19 on Mill Street in downtown Inman, replacing Upstate Coffee, which opened in late 2020.

The drink menu includes pour-over, espresso, cold brew coffee, beer and wine. It will also serve breakfast, lunch and evening appetizers like salads, sandwiches, other light bites and desserts.

The Pardo Café is one of the new ideas owned and operated by Crafted Community Concepts, a local development group co-founded by developer Bryan Beal and restauranteur Nate Tomforde, who separately owns Southernside Brewing Co. and Double Stamp Brewery.

The duo forms food, beverage and entertainment concepts to bring to communities throughout the Upstate with others already planned for Fountain Inn, Greer and Spartanburg.

“We are going to continue that coffee shop for the town of Inman, but we’re also adding more of a food element so that it will be a full cafe,” Tomforde said in an interview with The Post and Courier.

The pair are currently restoring and revitalizing the former Ellison Flour Mill in downtown Fountain Inn into a brewery and food hall and the old Wild Wing Cafe in downtown Spartanburg into a barbecue restaurant with help from a famous pit master.

The mill project should be done by the end of the year or the first part of 2024 while the new barbecue restaurant should open this summer.

SPARTANBURG — When Olivia Skelton opened Purple Sunrise Spa, she didn’t know what to expect being a first-time business owner.

The Cowpens resident had worked for a spa in Greenville and in retail. By the time she turned 24, she decided to pursue her dreams and open her own business catering to women’s health and wellbeing. In July 2021, Purple Sunrise Spa opened at 210 Westgate Mall Drive.

“I just didn’t want to work any corporate jobs anymore,” she said. “I just wanted to do something more. I started with no clients and now have over 1,000. I love the people we get here. We created a place where women feel safe, confident and beautiful here.”

Skelton’s family relocated to South Carolina from Michigan when she was 12 after her dad got a job in the state. She’s grown to love the city but still misses the snowy winters in Michigan.

Her focus is centered on expanding her business, which now has three employees. She spent six months prior to opening renovating the building when it had no power. She built a following during the process by promoting her endeavor on social media.

It paid off with her business fully booked with appointments during the first few months.

“The business is still growing, and I hope to have my own building eventually,” Skelton said. “We are looking to hire two more employees.”

When she opened, Skelton said she wasn’t sure about herself. However, her confidence has grown with support from her clients.

Kara Lee of Spartanburg is a Purple Sunrise Spa client and supports the owner’s business.

“Olivia is a huge inspiration to everyone around her and the environment she has created for her clients,” Lee said. “This spa is like no others. Olivia makes every single human feel welcomed, relaxed and it’s so different than any other spas I’ve been to.”

Nicole Gantz is among the massage therapists who work at the spa. She has been a massage therapist for two years. Each of the massage rooms are decorated with different themes.

SPARTANBURG — Robots are coming to BMW’s Spartanburg manufacturing plant, but not at the cost of any human jobs.

California-based AI robotics company Figure announced Jan. 18 that it signed a commercial agreement with BMW Manufacturing to “deploy general purpose robots in automotive manufacturing environments.”

BMW spokesman Steve Wilson said in an email Friday that there is no timetable for when the robots will be deployed. He added that no job losses will occur because of the robots and that there will be no changes for BMW’s associates.

“Companies that invest in innovation such as this are more sustainable, become more productive, and have a competitive advantage,” Wilson said. “Innovation, digitalization, and sustainability are key success factors for our future.

BMW and Figure will pursue a “milestone-based approach.” After the initial phase where Figure will identify use cases to apply the robots in automotive production, the robots will begin staged deployment at the BMW manufacturing site in Greer.

At its 8-million-square-foot Spartanburg County campus, BMW Manufacturing employs 11,000 workers. It is the largest U.S. automotive exporter by value with a total export value of almost $9.6 billion, and more than 1,500 vehicles are assembled at the plant daily.

Figure founder and CEO Brett Adcock said the potential of general purpose robotics is untapped.

“Figure’s robots will enable companies to increase productivity, reduce costs, and create a safer and more consistent environment,” Adcock said.

The companies will also jointly explore other topics in advanced technology such as artificial intelligence, robot integration, robot control and manufacturing virtualization.

BMW CEO Robert Engelhorn said the use of “general purpose robot solutions” has the potential to make productivity more efficient.

Wilson said that the carmaker is investigating several tasks across the plant to help improve safety and ergonomics.

INMAN, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The small town of Inman is ready to grow. City officials want your input on what could improve downtown. Inman’s main street has seen a big boom over the years and it’s looking to keep it going.

“It reminds me of when I was young, going downtown with my grandparents,” said Christine Green, about downtown Inman.

Inman’s downtown is quaint and mostly quiet with the exception of cars passing by. Green’s consignment store, New To You, is a work in progress. Two weeks ago, she finalized the deal to become the new owner. And even though it’s not open yet, it’s seen a steady flow of people wanting to shop.

“I could have been open. Everyday people have tried and tried to get in here” said Green. “I think [there’s] a lot of exciting things to come.”

The city of Inman already fulfilled 70 to 80 percent of the downtown master plan created in 2021.

“We have experienced extensive growth in the last couple of years, and we anticipate that to continue. There’s a lot of factors that are aligning in our favor” said April Williams, the City Planning Director.

They’re now looking ahead for what’s next, like historic preservation.

“A lot of our business owners have worked really hard to maintain the structure and the integrity of these buildings,” said Williams.

Revitalizing this downtown isn’t a task the city will be completing alone. They’ll also have help from Main Street South Carolina.

“Our job is to provide guidance and support to the local programs as they build their own programs to support downtown revitalization” said Jenny Boulware, the State Coordinator for Main Street South Carolina.

Under the three-year program, Main Street coordinators will help city leaders make downtown even more desirable. They’re looking at what’s missing and asking residents what they’d like to see change. The goal is to have 100% occupancy downtown within the next year and half.

“We’re kind of ahead of the curve, and we have a great momentum going,” said Williams.

If you live in Inman and want to learn more there will be another meeting on Wednesday March, 1st. It will be a town hall presentation from the Main Street South Carolina officials. It’ll take place at 5:30pm at 10 S Main Street.
