Personal Care Services

  • 24-Hour Care
Always Best Care helps you find the perfect round-the-clock in-home care plan to fit your loved one’s circumstances and needs. 24-hour care is support that is available to anyone who needs extra help to carry on living at home. It can include help with shopping, cooking, cleaning, washing, dressing and all other daily tasks. The need for 24-hour care can be prompted by accident, illness, dementia, frailty, disability, or frailty caused by the aging process.
  • Bathing, Grooming
    & Dressing
Bathing, dressing and grooming play a large role in a senior’s daily routines. Maintaining good personal hygiene can be vital in preventing sickness, while dressing can impact an elderly individual’s self-esteem. Grooming and dressing are integral to the activities of daily living.
  • Cognitive Impairments
Cognitive impairment is not an illness, but a description of someone’s condition. It means they have trouble with things like memory or paying attention. They might have trouble speaking or understanding. And they might have difficulty recognizing people, places or things, and might find new places or situations overwhelming.
  • Companionship
Companionship care is primarily emotional support and companionship for seniors who are generally healthy and who want to remain independent at home.
  • Errands & Transportation
Help with errands, shopping, and transportation falls under the category of Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs). These skills are necessary in order to live independently and that all of us do once we are up, out of bed, dressed, and ready to start our day. Transportation services for seniors can help maintain a level of independence without the need for the senior to drive themselves.
  • Escort to Activities
Escorting a senior to activities can help them if they feel unsafe or uncomfortable in public without accompaniment. Many trips are often used to assist seniors to utilize the services of health professionals and agencies that they otherwise would not be able to access.
  • Hospice
    Support / End-of-Life
Hospice care is for people who are nearing the end of life. The services are provided by a team of health care professionals who maximize comfort for a person who is terminally ill by reducing pain and addressing physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs.
  • Hospital to Home
Following a discharge from the hospital, the first three days are critical. During this time frame and beyond, the support given to a senior and their family play a vital role in the recovery process at home. A hospital-to-home program offers a comprehensive and flexible solution that can provide the physical and emotional support needed to recover safely and comfortably.
  • Incontinence / Toileting
There are several types of incontinence, which include overflow incontinence, transient incontinence, stress incontinence, urge incontinence, and knowing a little about the different types can help the caretaker and the family make the best decisions about what levels of toileting assistance should be included in the care plan of their loved one.
  • Laundry Services
For seniors, laundry can be a challenge. As people age, they may have less energy and stamina. One of the biggest benefits of laundry services is that they can help seniors stay independent. Laundry services can also help keep seniors healthy by ensuring the are wearing clean clothing.
  • Light Housekeeping
Light housekeeping includes things like watering the plants, dusting of surfaces and knickknacks, as well as picking up newspapers, magazines and other clutter. It includes emptying the trash, vacuuming and sweeping of main walk areas. It can also include organizing drawers, shelves and closets. In a nutshell light housekeeping is completing the specific tasks required to tidy up areas that a client uses. Examples of what a light housekeeping service does not include are heavy-duty cleaning tasks that require moving heavy furniture, washing windows, cleaning carpets, or scrubbing floors. Nor does it cover outside chores, such as shoveling snow off sidewalks, raking, or mowing the grass.
  • Live-In Care
Live-in care is for seniors who need around-the-clock assistance from a caregiver. Assistance is generally non-medical and includes such tasks as medication management, shopping, and assistance with activities of daily living (ADL). Though caregivers sleep at the senior’s residence, they generally aren’t required for assistance at night.
  • Meal Preparation
Meal preparation and eating healthy and nutritional food is important for seniors. Meal preparation assistance for the elderly is not just about cooking, but involves so much more. Maintaining a regular and consistent schedule can also play a role in emotional and physical health.
  • Medication Reminders
Medication reminders are a nonmedical service provided by a caregiver or a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). CNAs do not administer medications, or speak with a doctor or pharmacist about a senior’s medicine or regime—but they do ensure medication safety and regularity.
  • Mobility
Mobility is the ability to move or walk freely and easily — is critical for functioning well and living independently. As we age, we may experience changes to our mobility. There are many reasons for these changes, including changes in gait (how we walk), balance, and physical strength.
  • Nutrition Monitoring
Nutrition is an important element of health in the older population and affects the aging process. The prevalence of malnutrition is increasing in this population and is associated with a decline in functional status, impaired muscle function, decreased bone mass, immune dysfunction, anemia, reduced cognitive function, poor wound healing, delayed recovery from surgery, higher hospital readmission rates, and mortality.
  • Overnight Care
Overnight care revolves around a multitude of services which may include help using the restroom in the middle of the night, providing fluids and snacks in the evening, and assisting with preparing for bed. Elderly individuals may also receive help with transfer assistance throughout the night. Overnight caregivers can also prepare breakfast and offer morning care.
  • Safety Supervision
Because more accidents occur inside the home than anywhere else, seniors and their caregivers must do everything in their power to make sure their homes are as safe and secure as possible. Some of the steps that can be taken to ensure homes are safe for seniors and their families include removing clutter, adding better lighting, rearranging cabinets and drawers, and assessing the safety risks of the bathroom.
  • Technology Assistance
Technology can help the elderly live independently for longer by facilitating preventive care, early detection of, and response to, emerging health issues, as well as timely support for daily tasks. Technology offers a wide range of benefits to older adults. Seniors who use technology can also feel more connected to others, can be better engaged in the community and world around them, and be more informed about current events.

“I cannot praise Kathleen enough! My wife was in the hospital, the hospice service for my mother in law did not come through. I was frantically trying to find someone who could help assist me at 8 AM on a Sunday. She quickly contacted me and spent over an hour and a half taking care of her needs. She is truly an angel.”

“Kathleen is truly one of a kind. I personally experienced the care and support she provides, and I can honestly say her knowledge, compassion, and understanding go far beyond what you normally find. She took the time to listen, understand my needs, and make me feel comfortable and cared for every step of the way. What stood out most to me was how genuinely she cared. It never felt like I was just another client. Kathleen brings so much experience and knowledge to what she does, but it’s her heart and the way she treats people that really makes the difference. I’m incredibly grateful for the care she provided and would recommend Kathleen to anyone looking for someone who truly knows what they’re doing and, more importantly, genuinely cares about the people she serves. She is exceptional at what she does.”

“I found Always Best Care (ABC) after searching for in home care for my mother after a fall and hospitalization. I selected BAC based on their Google reviews. The initial setup was quick and easy. Cathy Bruce (An absolutely unparalleled Senior Advocate) came to our home, interviewed me and my mother for over an hour to understand our needs and schedule, and set up the caregivers. The caregivers were on time and developed a rapport with my mother. The care provided was excellent and my mother developed a great rapport with her caregiver. Unfortunately, my mother’s condition continued to deteriorate. After a hospital stay, the hospital wanted to deny my mother’s post hospital rehab stay. I was in panic mode, trying to find somewhere for my mother to stay while I prepped her move into my home. While I was absolutely speeding towards Houston, Cathy Bruce was on the phone, helping me find alternatives. She went the extra mile in a way difficult to describe. Later, after the rehab stay, Cathy also helped me find an assisted living facility for a respite stay until I had modified the new home for my mother’s mobility needs. Now I’ve moved my mother to my home, and have set up ABC in the new city. No surprise, the caregiver they sent here was also excellent. This company is miles ahead of their competitors, and Cathy Bruce is a rockstar. Ten out of five stars. Use ABC Woodlands. If you’re in over your head, if it’s your first time having to be a senior caregiver, they’ll help. Be sure to ask for Cathy.”

“We have had an outstanding experience with All About Care. From the very beginning, the agency has been responsive, professional, and truly compassionate. A special thank you to Kathleen Craig, who has been wonderful to work with—she is incredibly knowledgeable, a great source of information, and always attentive and supportive. She has been quick to respond to any questions or needs, which has made this process so much easier. Our caregiver, Tiara, has been exceptional. From day one, Tiara has been professional, experienced, and fully dedicated to her work. She is never on her phone and remains focused and attentive the entire time she is here. Always on time, never misses a day! My husband is bedridden and requires consistent care, and Tiara goes above and beyond during every shift. Even though she works 5-hour shifts, Tiara is always engaged, anticipating his needs and making sure he is comfortable at all times. What truly sets Tiara apart is the joy she brings into our home. Tiara not only provides excellent care, but also lifts both my husband’s spirits and mine. She has even taken the time to teach me helpful tips and share ideas that have made a meaningful difference in our daily routine, which I truly appreciate. I am incredibly grateful to All About Care, Kathleen Craig, and especially Tiara for their compassion, professionalism, and dedication. I would highly recommend this agency to anyone looking for dependable, high-quality caregiving support. I love Always Best Care and their high standards. There’s no agency in the Houston area that can compete. ♥️”

“I’m not typically one to leave a review but I was at my mom’s senior living home and there were several people in the lobby for some event that was going on. One of the ladies walked over to talk to us and see how our day was. Her name is Cathy Bruce, and she was just so nice. She sat down with us and we had a great conversation. She explained it was a networking event going on but she was more interested in how my mom was. She gave me her card and said if I ever wanted to just talk, to give her a call since I recently lost my husband. It was refreshing to have a complete stranger care and basically live it out loud. I haven’t reached out yet but I wanted her to know how much I appreciate her sitting with my mom and I for a little bit. It meant the world to us.”

“Kathleen Craig, our care coordinator from Always Best Care, was exceptional for the months we used the agency’s services. She was able to accurately assess our home care needs during our first encounter and was always accessible by text/phone to make any needed adjustments to the schedule as our needs changed. This was a HUGE relief during an especially challenging time for us. Kathleen understood our criteria for caregivers (skills for dementia care) and was attentive to identifying the best providers. Kathleen even stepped in to cover a shift at a different location (during a hospitalization of my loved one) and offered useful strategies to make care more effective. Thank you, Kathleen for your compassion, creativity , accessibility and Care (with a capital C!).”

“Always Best Care has been amazing for my mother. Kathleen is a wonderful director. She’s so kind and clearly cares about her clients, and she’s always on the ball. She’s communicative, available, anticipates problems (like making sure my mom had last-minute overnight care during a winter storm), and has resolved any issues immediately. Best of all, she paired my mother with her caregiver Evelyn, who has been an absolute godsend and a perfect match. Evelyn cares for my mother like her own family, and treats her with such care and respect. I never thought I could feel this safe and at ease with someone other than me taking care of my mom, but the Always Best team has done it! I’ll simply never be able to thank you all enough.”

FAQs About In Home Care Services

Female-Caregiver-Mobile Female-Caregiver-Desktop

Always Best Care provides services for people who prefer to stay at home but need ongoing care that cannot easily be provided by their family or friends. More and more older adults prefer to live independent, non-institutionalized lives, and in-home care is a safe, effective way to provide care in the comfort of one’s own home.

The answer depends on the type of care, the location of care and the level of care that is needed. At Always Best Care we provide a no obligation care consultation and provide advice on many options for paying for home care for your loved one.

Our company vision is to work as a united team providing the best senior care in the world, with the broadest range of services, and the most loving and consistent care anywhere. We are dedicated to exceeding your expectations…always

Your Care Coordinator will work with you and your loved one to select the best qualified caregiver for each client. They will carefully review your care plan and try to match the right caregiver with the specific needs of each client. Our goal is to make sure that you and your loved one are completely satisfied with our service and we will bend over backwards to make this happen.

Every Always Best Care location employs all their caregivers, so extensive background and reference checks are conducted. Caregivers are insured for your safety and they all receive extensive training upon being hired and on-going training to keep up with the demand of our industry. What this means for you is that you or your loved one will receive some of the best caregivers our industry has to offer.

The time frame to begin care for a senior will depend on the urgency of the need for the person and family that will be receiving care. It will be important for the senior and their family to speak with a provider in order to discuss care needs, where care will be provided, how soon care will need to begin, and a budget for their care services. Based on the needs of the senior and their family, a care plan can be developed, whether needed for a few hours each week or around the clock care.

How people pay for long-term care, whether delivered at home or in a hospital, assisted living facility, or nursing home, depends on their financial situation and the kinds of services they use. In many cases, people believe that their current health or disability insurance will pay for their long-term care needs, but most of these insurance policies include limited, if any, long-term care benefits. Often, people must rely on a variety of payment sources, including personal funds, government programs, and private financing options.

Traditional Medicare does not pay for 24-hour-a-day care at your home, meals delivered to your home, homemaker services like shopping, cleaning, and laundry that aren’t related to your care plan, custodial, or personal care that helps you with daily living activities like bathing, dressing, or using the bathroom, when this is the only care that is needed.

Home Based Primary Care is part of the VA Medical Benefits. All enrolled Veterans are eligible IF they meet the clinical need for the service and it is available.
