They say that your golden years are the best years of your life. For most older Americans, that's how it should be - a time to relax, reflect, and live life in a familiar place. After all, senior citizens in the U.S. have worked tirelessly to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise families.

However, as seniors grow older, completing daily tasks like showering and enjoying activities such as visiting the historic Henry Muhlenberg House - Historical Society of Trappe, Collegeville, Perkiomen Valley gets harder without someone by their side. Unfortunately, many older Americans aren't able to rely on their adult children for help. The reality in today's world is that family members do not have the skills or time to dedicate to caring for their parents. That's where Always Best Care Senior Services comes in.

Our in-home care services are for people who prefer to stay at home as they grow older but need ongoing care that family or friends cannot provide. More and more older adults prefer to live far away from long-term, institutionalized facilities and closer to the place where they feel most comfortable - their home. “We are so grateful for Always Best Care BuxMont. Rebecca and Ken have been lifesavers for our family. We were using another company and both myself and my caretaker were extremely frustrated with the negligence of the former home care company. After a couple of phone calls with Rebecca and appointments with Ken we felt like we were breathing fresh air again. Their kindness comes through in every encounter and their business ethics are superior to other companies. The heartfelt care they have for their people is very evident. It is a relief and a pleasure to work with them, both for myself and my caretaker.”

“Ken Good was a life saver in helping us find a CCRC in Doylestown, PA for my brother in law, PP. We had 5 days notice that he could no longer stay at the rehab center. Within 24 hours, Ken sent an e-mail identifying facilities whom he had spoken to including 6 that would most likely PP given his limited assets in addition to those that would not and those who had not returned his call. These recommendations were updated daily. I don't know what we would have done but for Ken's knowledge, accessibility and obvious respect from so many facilities that promptly returned his call . Because of Ken's quick and accurate recommendations, PP was accepted to a Personal Care facility that meets his needs perfectly. We highly recommend Ken Good and Always Best Care Senior Services”

“My beloved dad recently passed away after losing his battle with cancer. During his last months, he was lucky enough to have had Claire as his caregiver and friend. I firmly believe that Claire extended my dad’s life because of the love, laughter, compassion, silliness and extraordinary level of CARE she gave my dad - and she made him feel alive more than he had in a very long time. She was so good with him and he enjoyed his time with her so much that he actually forgot he was sick when she was around. They became forever friends, even though "forever" didn’t last long enough. From the very first day that I contacted Always Best Care of Upper BuxMont/Doylestown to arrange home care for my dad, I was met with an impressive and unexpected level of kindness, understanding and humanity. The owners, along with their team, felt like part of my family - which sounds strange I suppose, but there’s really no better way to describe it. This is not your typical caregiving agency, that’s for sure! I will forever be grateful to all of these wonderful people for how well they treated my dad.”

“I am a current client of this provider My elderly mother and I could not ask for better care! This is the 4th "agency" we've worked with, but Always Best Care is not an agency; they are more like family because they treat you like a family member. Ken and Rebecca are 100% honest & sincere in every aspect. I have never worked with more knowledgeable, caring people. Everyone communicates exceptionally; if there is a change or if someone runs late, you are notified right away (and those things don't happen often). With regard to caregivers, again they are exceptional, and like family. My loved one can be very challenging but they handle every situation with great care & commitment. I could not have survived the last few years without the care of two ladies in particular - they cared for my mother better than other family members did! Always Best Care is 100% responsive; you do not have to wait to hear from them or place a follow-up call. If the answer is not immediate, they will absolutely get back to you within hours. Always Best Care adapted to the Covid-19 issues seamlessly; no care was interrupted, and the utmost safety precautions were always in place. Always Best Care was able to help my mother keep her independence for as long as possible. They always treated my mother with respect and were always thoughtful of her dignity. Their business is appropriately named!”

“Ken Good was so helpful and knowledgable when my elderly father needed in-home care. He actually came to the rehab center to meet us where my father was getting physical therapy after a fall. This way he was able to accurately access how much care my father would need and which caregivers would be the right fit. We were afraid we'd have to move him to a nursing home but fortunately we were able to set up in-home care. It's been four months now and we have been very happy with the caregivers who have been assigned to my father. What is Non-Medical Senior Care in Collegeville, PA?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. So, if you've always wanted to eat at the local Bonjung Japanese Restaurant - DBA - Bonjung Sushi & Korean BBQ or visit Kuster Mill, don't feel bad. Doing so is great for both you and your loved one.

At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

If you have been on the fence about non-medical home care, there has never been a better time than now to give your senior the care, assistance, and companionship they deserve.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Collegeville, PA, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your PA's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Collegeville, PA understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

Respite Care Collegeville, PA

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Caregivers who work at assisted living communities can also provide medication administration and personal care services for older adults.

Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation
  • Personal Care
 Caregivers Collegeville, PA

At Always Best Care, our representatives can match your senior's emotional, physical, and financial needs with viable assisted living communities nearby. Results are based on comparative data, so you can select the best choice for you or your loved one.

Always Best Care works closely with local senior living communities to gain valuable knowledge that we then use to help seniors and their loved ones make informed decisions. This information can include basic care and rent, resident availability, and services provided. Because Always Best Care is compensated by these communities, we provide senior living referral services at no extra cost to you.

Some of the most popular assisted living communities to consider in our area include the following:

  • Providence Place Senior Living at the Collegeville Inn
  • Columbia Cottage-Collegeville
  • Morningside House of Collegeville
  • Christian Concern Management
  • Assisting Hands Serving Collegeville and Surrounding Areas
  • Brandywine Living at Upper Providence
Home Care Collegeville, PA

For many seniors, moving into a senior living community revolves around how and when they want to make a transition to more involved care. Some seniors are more proactive about transitioning to independent living. Others choose to remain home until their care needs or other requirements are satisfied. Remember - our staff is here to help. Contact our office today to learn more about assisted living communities and how we can find a facility that exceeds your expectations.

The business, Aston CC LLC, which operates as Vincent’s Pizzeria & Grill at 500 Gravel Pike in Collegeville, has agreed to pay $268,660 in unpaid wages and damages, as the result of a settlement agreement.

“We will hold employers legally accountable when they fail to comply with federal laws that protect workers’ rights to their full wages and ensure young employees work during permitted hours in safe jobs,” said Samantha Thomas, acting regional solicitor of labor for the Labor Department.

Between Jan. 11, 2020, and Jan. 6, 2023, Vincent’s Pizzeria & Grill allegedly violated federal law by failing to pay its employees overtime. Kitchen workers were not paid overtime, while a cashier and a delivery driver received overtime pay in cash, but not the required amount in total, according to the investigation. The restaurant also failed to record the cash payments and hours worked by employees who were paid in cash, either partially or fully.

A total of 15 employees are owed back wages in amounts ranging from $111.94 to $19,776, according to a representative for the Labor Department.

Three employees who complained about the overtime pay practices were fired, and the restaurant will pay $9,000 in damages to that group of employees for the unlawful retaliation.

The investigation also revealed that three children at the restaurant were employed in tasks that are defined as hazardous for their age by the Fair Labor Standards Act. Employees aged 15 and 17 used a meat slicer and a vertical dough mixer. One child under the age of 16 also worked more than 8 hours when school was not in session.

“Learning new skills in the workforce is an important part of growing up, but we must protect children and make sure their first jobs are safe and do not interfere with their education or well-being,” said James Cain, wage and hour division district director at the U.S. Department of Labor.

Pennsylvania has seen a surge in child labor law violation investigations recently. Since January, the state’s Department of Labor and Industry has opened 403 investigations, compared to 107 cases during the same time last year.

Last month, a Norristown pizzeria that failed to pay workers overtime was also found to be in violation of child labor laws by employing children too young to be food delivery drivers.

In addition to the wages and damages owed to employees, Vincent’s Pizzeria & Grill in Collegeville has to pay a $9,323 fine for the child labor violations and a $6,657 fine for overtime pay violations.

The settlement agreement was filed on Oct. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the company has 30 days from when it was entered to issue payment, according to court documents.

A representative for Vincent’s Pizzeria & Grill did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Tuesday.

The new season of "The Bachelor" premieres Jan. 22 with Montgomery County-native Joey Graziadei in the dating show's namesake role.

Before Graziadei's journey for love begins, fans can meet him during a toy drive at Collegeville Bakery in Montgomery County on Monday from 6-8 p.m. Each person who brings a new, unwrapped toy will have the chance to chat with the reality TV star.

The items collected will be donated to Daily Bread Community Food Pantry, a nonprofit in Collegeville. The drive is being held in memory of the bakery's late co-founder, Caterina Crispino Della Polla.

"Please be as generous as possible and think of the cool toys kids in your life would love," the bakery wrote on Instagram. "Our heartfelt thanks to Joey for giving of his time, and going along with our idea, to give back to his hometown. This is one amazing young man and we are forever grateful for his support."

Graziadei grew up in Collegeville, a borough located about 30 miles from Center City, and later attended West Chester University, where he played tennis. After college, he spent time working as a tennis instructor in Hawaii before embarking on his journey for love on Season 20 of "The Bachelorette."

With his earnest charm and good looks, Graziadei became a fan-favorite. He found a rapport with lead Charity Lawson, but he left heartbroken when she chose to accept a proposal from Dotun Olubeko instead.

Graziadei's hometown was spotlighted on "The Bachelorette" when he took Lawson on a tennis date. Now, the town likely will take on a more central role when Graziadei leads "The Bachelor." The show filmed a segment at Collegeville Bakery back in September.

"This is his time to shine and we want to make Joey proud and 'The Bachelor' proud that his hometown is backing him up on this," Steve Carcarey, a co-owner of the bakery, said at the time. "This national spotlight is going to be on Collegeville, which is fantastic."

Portions of the Collegeville Bakery segment, along with some footage of Philadelphia, appeared in the Season 28 trailer released last week.

Graziadei has been gearing up for his starring role with several TV appearances in recent months. He made a cameo during the Oct. 19 episode of ABC's senior-citizen dating show "The Golden Bachelor," which also featured contestant Susan Noles of Delaware County. Last month, Graziadei was a special guest at Philadelphia's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

"The Bachelor" premieres Monday, Jan. 22 at 8 p.m. on ABC.

ABC’s newest Bachelor is Joey Graziadei — runner up on Season 20 of The Bachelorette, a tennis instructor, and a Montgomery County native.

Graziadei, who grew up in Collegeville and played Division II tennis at West Chester University, was a fan favorite on The Bachelorette season that wrapped Monday. Charity Lawson ultimately gave her final rose to Dotun Olubeko, a Brooklyn man whom Lawson said she had a “deeper” connection with.

Graziadei’s good fortune was announced moments after his breakup aired.

“I want love bad,” Graziadei, 28, said tearfully during the finale. “This thing has just shown me how badly I want to be with someone else and get an opportunity to share life with them … I just would ask the universe, ‘When, when is it going to happen for me?’”

Graziadei will helm the 28th season of the dating franchise (and begin his quest for love) sometime in 2024.

What does Graziadei say he’s looking for in a partner? Nothing specific.

“I just want someone to do life with,” he told Bachelor host Jesse Palmer during the After the Final Rose special.

Graziadei has lived on and off in Hawaii since graduating from West Chester in 2017. In Hawaii, he teaches tennis at a luxury resort and residential community called Kukui’ula, according to his LinkedIn.

Graziadei is — unfortunately — a Green Bay Packers fan. His other noted interests are country music, going on hikes, and being with his family, which is the standard formula for building a Bachelor. ABC declined to make Graziadei available for an interview.

Bachelor Nation got a brief taste of Montgomery County on this season of The Bachelorette, when Graziadei brought Lawson to play tennis in Collegeville during his hometown date. Things got derailed, though when Graziadei’s uncle crashed the doubles session to say he believes his nephew is putting on a persona to please her, which caused Lawson to eventually leave Pennsylvania in tears.

“We saw how much of a lover boy Joey is and how much he wants his person,” Lawson told People magazine about her ex becoming the Bachelor. “I do believe that he is going to have no problem finding that.”

Fan favorite spot Collegeville Italian Bakery in Montgomery County is showing us how to make one of their best sellers: the Bangin' Cutlet Sandwich.

COLLEGEVILLE, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- We are heading to a fan favorite in Montgomery County to find out how to make one of their best sellers: The "bangin' cutlet" sandwich.

Last year, the Collegeville Italian Bakery sold a record amount.

"40,000 sandwiches - just the bangin' cutlet alone," says owner Patrizia Carcarey.

We came to find out just how it got its name as we start with the star: the chicken cutlet.

"The cutlet has to be filleted nice and thin," Patrizia says. "That is key. You want it thin, you want it crispy."

The Dish: The Bangin' Chicken Cutlet Sandwich from Collegeville Italian Bakery

She says you want it to thin that you get four or five cutlets from one chicken breast.

Next, give the cutlet a little dip in an egg wash and then dredge in breadcrumbs.

"We use our homemade breadcrumbs," Patrizia says. "That makes the difference - our bread. We sell them here."

Now, fry on a hot pan with olive oil. Because the cutlet is so thin, it gets golden quickly.

Patrizia says the smell of frying cutlets is comforting like a hug and reminds her of her late mother, Lina, who passed away in December.

"I watched her," Patrizia says. "I learned from her and I carry it on."

Collegeville Italian Bakery began three decades ago as a small bakery with just a deli counter.

"We didn't have a grill at the time. It was all about the bread," Patrizia says.

And their bread is the base for the bangin' cutlet.

"You have to hand slice the bread when you're making the sandwich. I am a firm believer in no pre-sliced rolls here," says Patrizia.

Once the roll is open, first load it with some Mike's Hot Honey. That kick of heat is one of three secrets that make this cutlet "bangin'!"

Next, layer on burrata - a luxurious Italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream.

"We use the inside and the outside of the burrata," Patrizia says. "It's creamier. This is what makes the sandwich."

The third special touch is their homemade rosé sauce.

"We make it with heavy cream, Parmigiano Reggiano, tomato sauce and fresh basil. Don't go easy on it. This is a sloppy sandwich and we are loading it up!" says Patrizia.

One last step is to add more Mike's hot honey on top and enjoy!

A neighborhood staple for 3 decades

Collegeville Italian Bakery is having quite a moment in the spotlight these days.

When "The Bachelor" Joey Graziadei brought the show home, he brought the cameras here. He's a regular.

"The producers had no idea what hit them when they came here," laughs Steve Carcarey, Patrizia's husband. "We had over 800 people here. We put Collegeville on the map. People were coming through the trees!"

The truth is, crowds have been coming here for 30 years.

Patrizia's mother Lina and her husband Giovanni started this bakery in 1994. As Italian immigrants, this was their American dream.

Patrizia and her husband Steve have since taken over from her parents.

"We started as an old-school bakery, making breads, rolls, lunchmeat sandwiches, but we had to think outside the box," says Steve.

They've expanded twice, first adding a dining room, then a pizzeria. With mom gone, dad, Giovanni, remains the heartbeat of this bakery.

"I can tell he's proud," Patrizia says. "I see that in his eyes. This is his dream."

The love of community is clear here and Steve is in charge of their famous billboard.

"It's simple," Steve says. "People don't care if I put on the sign: 'Two pizzas and a free bottle.' Nobody cares about that. We live in a negative world, so what we try to do is uplift the community. We recognize and celebrate people. It's not that hard to be nice."
