Home Care In Hampton, NJ

Home Care Hampton, NJ

They say that your golden years are the best years of your life. For most older Americans, that's how it should be - a time to relax, reflect, and live life in a familiar place. After all, senior citizens in the U.S. have worked tirelessly to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise families.

However, as seniors grow older, completing daily tasks like showering and enjoying activities such as visiting the historic Hampton Institute - National Historic Landmark Maker gets harder without someone by their side. Unfortunately, many older Americans aren't able to rely on their adult children for help. The reality in today's world is that family members do not have the skills or time to dedicate to caring for their parents. That's where Always Best Care Senior Services comes in.

Our in-home care services are for people who prefer to stay at home as they grow older but need ongoing care that family or friends cannot provide. More and more older adults prefer to live far away from long-term, institutionalized facilities and closer to the place where they feel most comfortable - their home. Home care in Hampton, NJ is a safe, effective way to give your loved ones the care they need when they need it the most.

The Always Best Care Difference

Since 1996, Always Best Care has provided non-medical in-home care for seniors to help them maintain a healthy lifestyle as they get older. We are proud to have helped more than 25,000 seniors maintain higher levels of dignity and respect. We focus on providing seniors with the highest level of in-home care available so that they may live happily and independently.

Unlike some senior care companies, we genuinely want to be included in our clients' lives. We believe that personalized care is always the better option over a "one size fits all" approach. To make sure our senior clients receive the best care possible, we pair them with compassionate caregivers who understand their unique needs. That way, they may provide care accordingly without compromising their wellbeing.

The Always Best Care difference lies in life's little moments - where compassionate care and trustworthy experience come together to help seniors live a fruitful, healthy life. Whether you are an aging adult that can't quite keep up with life's daily tasks or the child of a senior who needs regular in-home services, Always Best Care is here to help.

TESTIMONIALS

“When my mother found the day to day chores of independent living challenging, we brought in a home health aid from Always Best Care 4 days a week. Little did we know we were growing our family. The service Greg and Robin provided us exceeded our expectations. They often went above and beyond to ensure my mom stayed happy and healthy living in her home and kept me in the loop via phone calls and texts when questions arose.. The home health aid was extremely conscientious and attentive The companionship she provided kept mom engaged and active. And when mom transitioned to assisted living, Sarah was there every step of the way to help the move go smoothly. We feel so lucky to have found Greg and Robin and certainly have benefitted from working with folks within and familiar with our community. We look forward to keeping in touch.”

“I am a past client of this provider Best in Care helped our family during a very difficult time. Mom had a broken neck and needed 24/7 care which my sister and I struggled to provide. We turned to Best in Care for a day time aid so that we could go home and sleep (Mom was up all night). My mom had always been resistant to anyone in the home, and I was worried she would be a problem. Much to my surprise and relief, she very quickly bonded with Ade. Ade was a great help to Mom and us. When my mom, shortly after, received a terminal cancer diagnosis, Ade continued to support my mom and the family with her compassionate presence and care. Greg and Robin worked closely with me to find a carer and then to be flexible with our needs and hours in my Mom's final days. I'm grateful to have found Best in Care at such a challenging and emotional time.”

“My family needed help with my Mom for a family wedding. She lives in assisted living nearby. The wedding was not close by, and an evening event. It was not a typical ask of Always Best Care. We needed someone to (in car service we provided) pick up my Mom, travel with her, engage her (even though they had never met), assist her as needed, attend the wedding AND travel back home. Greg and Robin asked all the questions to make sure Mom would enjoy the experience as a grandmother should at her grandaughter's wedding. Needless to say, the evening was perfect. Although she can't remember most of the event, we have the memories and pictures of a wonderful night, thanks to Always Best Care. We have two more weddings coming up and will certainly be calling Robin and Greg again.”

“I am a current client of this provider Always Best Care owners Greg and Robin have enabled me to give the best in home care possible to my significant other.Caregiving after sudden life altering injury creates not just one person with a progressive need for care, but also a caregiver with great ongoing needs for support. Respite care particularly, becomes a lifesaver when the caregiver needs time off. Greg and Robin stepped in and provided companionship and a high level of service that was, and still is, a great source of peace of mind for both of us. “Greg and Robin LaVersa truly work hard to make sure they provide exceptional service! Their aides have worked well with my mother, who has had difficulty in the past with aides from other companies. When a scheduling conflict arose, Robin herself went to my mother's house and helped out. Because they care not only for their clients but for their aides as well, the care is given in the best way possible. ABC Basking Ridge has been providing overnight care for my mother, but when a sudden loss of her daytime care (from another company) occurred, Greg and Robin worked tirelessly to help me find immediate coverage and then continuing day care. I don't know what I would have done without their assistance. It is a pleasure to deal with Greg on the phone (he is my contact person). He is always available, concerned and honest. I cannot recommend this company highly enough.”

“A year ago it became clear that my 90 year-old father and 87 year-old mother could no longer remain in their home of 53 years without assistance. They lived in an area where caregivers are very hard to find. After much searching, I found Always Best Care Basking Ridge. While Mom and Dad did not like the idea of having anyone come into their home to care for them, Greg LaVersa was patient and understanding and helped me convince them that they would be well cared for. The caregiver that Always Best Care provided cared for Mom and Dad for a year, always caring and showing compassion. But most of all, she treated Mom and Dad with dignity. The amount of care increased with time, my brother moved in to assist with the care and eventually both of my parents went on home hospice. But throughout it all, Always Best Care Basking Ridge was there caring for Mom and Dad and granting them their wish to die at home. I promised Mom and Dad that they would remain at home until the end and that promise was fulfilled thanks to Greg, Robin and their wonderful caregiver. I would not hesitate a moment to recommend them to anyone in the Somerset Hills area of New Jersey who is looking for home care.”

Greg and his team understood my Father's needs at a time when the caregivers we employed before Always Best Care were struggling to meet our expectations. lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Hampton, NJ, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your NJ's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

The author and occultist's remains most likely found their way to a home near Bucks County.

According to several sources, one of the most infamous personalities of the last century may have found his resting place just outside of Bucks County.

Aleister Crowley, dubbed by many publications as “The Wickedest Man in the World”, was an English author and occultist, who founded the spiritual philosophy/religion of Thelema back in the early 1900s. To some, he was an evil character who practiced black magic and other troublesome occult activities. To others, he was a prophet of a new way of life, leading mankind into a new realm of spirituality and self-development.

Given his reputation, it would be easy to assume that his remains can be found in a regal tomb in his native England, decorated with occult imagery and maybe even some Ancient Egyptian calligraphy, as he was very influenced by the myths and religion of the long-gone civilization. But, like so many other things in life, that would be too good to be true.

According to several sources, including the books “A Magick Life: A Biography of Aleister Crowley” by Martin Booth and “Aleister Crowley: Magick, Rock and Roll, and the Wickedest Man in the World” by Gary Lachman, Crowley’s remains, having been cremated after his death in late 1947, were given to his associate Karl Germer, who took them back to his estate in Hampton, New Jersey, about a half-hour outside of Bucks County.

It was here where, according to biographers and those who knew Germer, the occultist’s ashes were either buried in or scattered atop Germer’s garden. Another source says that Germer’s wife, Sascha, scattered the ashes around a tree on the property.

The private property, where the ashes were allegedly scattered, sits near the Musconetcong River.

Regardless of the the public’s opinion of him, he was an influential figure in his day and after. Many attribute his teachings to the rise of new age beliefs and religions, as well as the counterculture revolution of the 1960s.

To many, his phrase “Do What Thou Wilt” became a philosophical statement for individual freedom, and the top musicians of the counterculture found him to be a fascinating figure; his ominous face can be seen in the top-lefthand corner of the cover of the Beatle’s “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” and his signature phrase was engraved into early pressings of Led Zeppelin’s third album, as guitarist Jimmy Page had an avid interest in the occultist’s works.

LAFAYETTE — A township-based hydroponic grower of leafy greens that supplies products to ShopRite and other tri-state markets is moving out to make way for a very different type of leafy green: cannabis.

The Lafayette Land Use Board in a special meeting held Wednesday night approved an application by the property owner at 152 Hampton House Road, currently the site of fresh salad greens producer Element Farms, to convert their existing operations into a cannabis cultivation site. The board's 8-1 approval, with a lone dissent by member Susanne Van Sickle, will allow a team of cannabis cultivation experts to take over operations of an existing greenhouse to grow, manufacture and produce the plant.

Serdar Mizrakci, managing member of Spearmint Capital, a limited liability company that owns the property, is also the founder and CEO of Element Farms, which uses hydroponic pods and renewable energy to grow their greens. Mizrakci, who has been in operation since 2016, will not be part of the cannabis cultivation and plans to expand his unique operation elsewhere, hopefully at a site in the tri-state area, he said after Wednesday's hearing.

Jan Carlos Byl, who spent several years in the 1990s in Amsterdam learning cannabis cultivation methods before consulting throughout the United States, will serve as chief operations officer at the greenhouse, which measures 67,000-square-feet on a 22-acre tract of land. The property bisects Hampton Township, but the two lots in question were consolidated and the hearing held in Lafayette.

Byl, whose consulting has led him to 17 states, said the North Jersey area is diverse and the cannabis industry is growing, so he is excited to be a "good neighbor" in Lafayette without causing any issues, he said after the hearing. The facility will also benefit the community by employing 25 persons in a staggered shift format, with most working 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, he added.

The facility will not be open to the public or sell cannabis. The greenhouse, located 514 feet from the nearest home and 720 feet from Route 206, also known as Hampton House Road, will be enclosed by a 7-foot-high chain-link fence with access only by those who have access cards, according to Mark Gimigliano, an engineer with Dykstra Walker Design Group who testified on behalf of the applicant. A security guard will be on premises 24/7 to monitor the gates and screen those arriving, which is mandated by the state for all cultivation sites, he said.

Inside the hydroponic greenhouse, which reuses water and provides environmental controls, one plant per square foot will utilize one liter of water per day, with a closed loop system reusing the return water the next day, Gimigliano said. The growth cycle from seed to harvest in 100 days, with an estimated five harvests per year with the drying and curing of the cannabis flower being done within a sealed area for security, odor and environmental control, he said.

Deliveries to and from the site will be by box trucks during operating hours. There is no activity expected at night since, as Byl noted, the plants are "sleeping." Cannabis plants require 12-hour cycles of light and dark with supplemental LED lights operating during cloudy days. A blackout curtain will mitigate the chance of light pollution and will be engaged 15 minutes before dusk and retracted 15 minutes after dawn each day.

The facility will operate on a "closed loop" ventilation system and will employ negative air pressure to eliminate air exchange from the cultivation area, Gimigliano said. Fans will be installed on the south wall of the building, which Gimigliano said was agreed by the applicant at the request of an adjacent neighbor. Noises will also be limited to around 50 decibels during the day — about the sound of a quiet library — since generators will run on natural gas and not diesel, he added.

In February 2021, New Jersey became the 14th state to legalize the recreational use of marijuana and almost a year later, the state began accepting applications for cultivators, manufacturers and testing labs.

Lafayette adopted an ordinance in May 2021 to allow certain licensed facilities to grow and process marijuana wholesale within certain areas of the township. Retail pot stores are not permitted to operate.

The Land Use Board held a special meeting on Wednesday, and not on the usual Thursday, due to scheduling conflicts with some of the professionals. The Board's approval Wednesday night came six weeks after Mizrakci submitted the application. The ordinance will be considered for final passage on March 16, or if the meeting is canceled, March 23.

Additional information on the application and site plan is on the Lafayette Township website.

DIY enthusiasts will finally be able to unleash their inner creativity with Sussex County's first Michaels store slated to open this year.

The nation's largest specialty retailer of arts and crafts is taking over the space left vacant after the 2020 closure of Bed Bath & Beyond in the Hampton Plaza, at 21 Hampton House Rd., Hampton.

The 13,366-square-foot store is undergoing renovations to bring the crafts store to "life," said Rachel Petersen, head of corporate and product communications at Michaels.

The store is expected to open later this year with a soft opening planned in the coming months, Peterson said.

The move comes nearly two years after the community grieved the loss of Sussex County's only Bed Bath & Beyond, which announced its closing just weeks after crafts retailer A.C. Moore, located just two doors down. A.C. Moore joined the growing death of America's retail stores when its parent company, Nicole Crafts, announced in 2019 that they were closing all 145 of its stores, stating in a release that it was “very difficult for us to operate and compete on a national level.”

Rumors had taken hold that Michaels would soon replace the space left vacant by A.C. Moore in the plaza, since Michaels' then-CEO Mark Cosby announced plans to take over leases for up to 40 store locations. But the chatter was quelled when USA Wine Traders Club, a New Jersey-based discount beer, wine and liquor store, opened there in 2021.

Michaels is now hiring for full- and part-time positions for the store.

Michaels has 34 locations in New Jersey, with four in Morris County, three in Passaic and Bergen counties and one in Hudson County. Through his travels in France, Italy, California and beyond, Chris Cree never forgot his Jersey roots.

After years of connecting with wineries, learning the industry, starting his own company and becoming a certified Master of Wine, Cree opened his first restaurant/wine bar this year. Inside the historic Perryville Inn in Hampton, Cree Wine Company offers all kinds of wines from all over the world, with prices ranging from $10-$1,000 a bottle. The wines mainly come from smaller, family-owned domains, inspired by Cree’s visits to regions around the world.

Every weekend, Cree Wine Company offers classes on wine education, with spirits classes on weeknights. In April, the company hosted a Tour de France, introducing guests to a new region and its wines every Sunday.

As the only Master of Wine in New Jersey, Cree knew that one day his experience in the wine industry would lead him to where he is today.

“There was always an idea of trying to make a place where food and wine come together,” he says, “where wine can be less intimidating and people can enjoy it in a comfortable place.”

You’ve been involved with food and wine for over 40 years. What drew you to the industry? Chris Cree: I have been interested in food since I was a kid. I’d cook with my mom and we’d watch Julia Child on TV. When I got into my teens, wine became a big part of it. I got a job at a liquor store and thought it would just be a way to earn money before going to college, but doors just kept opening in the wine business. I worked there for probably five years and after that got to travel a lot around the world. I made connections with wineries all around the world, from California to Europe.

What does it take to become a Master of Wine? There was no top business degree for the wine trade, so the institute was created in London to test and certify people in the business. The exam takes place over four days, and the sections include growing grapes, the business of wine, winemaking and blind taste testing, where you have to identify the country, region, method of production, etc. They started holding the courses in the U.S. in 1989, so I went in 1993 and passed in 1996.

Do you have a favorite wine region? There’s so many! I’d have to say Burgundy is a place I really enjoy. The wines are fantastic and it’s probably the most important place to visit, taste wine and find out what’s going on. I love going to Italy, especially Piedmont and Tuscany. There’s just so many great regions; it’s hard to pick a favorite.

Did you always want to open your own wine bar? Yeah, it was kind of always in the back of my head. It’s inspired by some of the places I’ve been and my experiences visiting and wine tasting. One example is Robert Sinskey in California, which has a fantastic food and wine experience. It’s a culmination of things I learned and saw and wanted to bring back to NJ so people could experience it.

Cree Wine Company is located in what was the Perryville Inn. What drew you to that historic location? I always had it in the back of my mind. It’s an 1813 brick farmhouse and inn. I started going to the Perryville Inn many years ago when it was owned by the Pfenninger family. I had a wine store in Clinton, and I would do wine dinners and tastings there. It was full of great memories. It closed in 2012 and reopened as a barbecue place. When the opportunity came up last year, I knew it was the right time to do it.

What does the renovated space look like? It’s an old building, so it did need a lot of work. I had a fantastic designer, Suzanne Perez, and she pushed me to upscale the place a bit to make it more modern. It’s all very comfortable and welcoming. There’s a bar area, a tasting lounge and a wine studio—which doubles as a private event space. We also do our classes and wine dinners there. We have a small patio that will be open when it gets warmer.

What kind of dishes does the kitchen offer? I met Chef AJ Sankofa and we immediately clicked. He’s super talented. We call the dishes sharing or pairing plates. We have everything from charcuterie boards, Brussels sprouts, salads, seafood stew, steak—really everything. We have a fantastic dish, Sicilian Fried Chicken, which seems to be everyone’s favorite. We have a wide range of things that change with the season and what we’re featuring. A lot of the dishes are based on regions around the world and are paired with the wines that come from there.

What’s it like opening your own place? Fantastic. Aside from restoring and bringing back this really old, beautiful building, there’s a lot happening in Hunterdon County. The farm-to-table, cheesemakers, winemakers, cideries; it’s really a vibrant place. I’m just happy to go to work and have a great team who provides a great environment. I’m having fun!
