BURNET, Texas — THURSDAY P.M. UPDATE (10/16):
The Williams Road Fire was 70% contained as of 12:17 p.m., the Texas A&M Forest Service said.
Burnet County officials said all fire was contained within the established perimeter.
"Texas A&M Forest Service, state and local resources in Unified Command with Burnet Volunteer Fire Department are utilizing heavy equipment resources, engine crews, and aircraft, targeting pockets of available fuel within the established perimeter, extinguishing remaining hotspots, and increasing containment," officials said on Facebook.
There are no evacuations or closures reported, officials said. No one has been injured and no structures have been impacted.
Texas A&M Forest Service has requested a 5-mile temporary flight restriction around the fire perimeter to provide for safe working conditions crews in aircraft.
Officials with Inks Lake State Park said helicopters picked up waster from the lake to drop on the blaze.
The fire never reached the state park, officials said.
"This incident is a god reminder of how quickly wildfires can spread and the importance of fire safety," park officials said on Facebook.
THRUSDAY A.M. UPDATE (10/16):
The Williams Road Fire, located west of Burnet, has burned 321.5 acres, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.
As of 8:39 a.m., the fire was 55% contained.
The Buchanan Volunteer Fire Department warned of lingering smoke in the area.
ORIGINAL STORY (10/15):
Multiple fire crews are battling a grass fire that has burned about 90 acres just west of Burnet on Wednesday evening.
The Texas A&M Forest Service reports the Williams Road Fire is situated near 1500 Williams Road, between Highway 29 and Hoover Valley Road, with 15% containment reported, as of 8:22 p.m.
Winds from the northeast, blowing at approximately 5 mph, are potentially complicating firefighting efforts, according to CBS Austin's Chief Meteorologist Chikage Windler.
Spicewood Fire said on Facebook it is sending a Brush truck crew to assist Burnet VFD with the grass fire.
The Buchanan Volunteer Fire Department deployed a crew with the east side Llano County Task Force.
