They say that your golden years are the best years of your life. For most older Americans, that's how it should be - a time to relax, reflect, and live life in a familiar place. After all, senior citizens in the U.S. have worked tirelessly to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise families.

However, as seniors grow older, completing daily tasks like showering and enjoying activities such as visiting the historic Riley Cemetery, Carrollton Historical Marker gets harder without someone by their side. Unfortunately, many older Americans aren't able to rely on their adult children for help. The reality in today's world is that family members do not have the skills or time to dedicate to caring for their parents. That's where Always Best Care Senior Services comes in.

Our in-home care services are for people who prefer to stay at home as they grow older but need ongoing care that family or friends cannot provide. More and more older adults prefer to live far away from long-term, institutionalized facilities and closer to the place where they feel most comfortable - their home. “Dear Mr. Gardner, I am writing to express my gratitude for the commitment and service of your employee, Shameka Kelly. Through your agency, Ms. Kelly was connected to our family to serve as a caregiver for my sister Victoria who was in the late states of ALS/Lou Gehrigs disease and required 24-hr. care at home. Shameka served as full-time caregiver under the direction of Victorias husband Ron, who was able to keep my sister at home until her passing this past March. This catastrophic and incurable disease rendered my sister completely paralyzed wheelchair bound, unable to speak, bathe, eat or even lift a finger to do anything for herself. Shameka did what most caregivers would not or simply could not do because of the stamina and patience required to care for Victoria. Before Shameka, we hired a multitude of caregivers who came and went sometimes only after one day because of how strenuous and taxing being a caregiver to my sister was. Day after day, Shameka arrived for the job with a smile on her face and the patience and commitment to go with it. My sister Victoria grew to love Shameka, as we all have. It was a great comfort to us because we knew that if Shameka was on duty, my sister was in good hands. Shamekas character, integrity, humor, honesty and professionalism are beyond reproach. She is an extremely caring individual who is always upbeat, optimistic, and patient. She was an answer to prayer for our family and became more than a caregiver she became part of our family. She has my highest recommendation for any task or client that may be placed before her. And we will be forever grateful. Kindest regards, Pamela Meek North Richland Hills, TX”

What is Non-Medical Senior Care in Carrollton, TX?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Carrollton, TX, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your TX's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.
 Senior Care Carrollton, TX

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Carrollton, TX understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

Respite Care Carrollton, TX

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Caregivers who work at assisted living communities can also provide medication administration and personal care services for older adults.

Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation
  • Personal Care
 Caregivers Carrollton, TX

At Always Best Care, our representatives can match your senior's emotional, physical, and financial needs with viable assisted living communities nearby. Results are based on comparative data, so you can select the best choice for you or your loved one.

Always Best Care works closely with local senior living communities to gain valuable knowledge that we then use to help seniors and their loved ones make informed decisions. This information can include basic care and rent, resident availability, and services provided. Because Always Best Care is compensated by these communities, we provide senior living referral services at no extra cost to you.

Some of the most popular assisted living communities to consider in our area include the following:

  • Grand Brook Memory Care of Carrollton
  • Oxford Glen Memory Care at Carrollton
  • 4 Seasons Senior Living
  • Carrollton Gardens

CARROLLTON, Texas — Read this story and more North Texas business news from our partners at the Dallas Business Journal

A liquid cooling company formerly based in Massachusetts has named Carrollton its new headquarters in a move aimed at responding to higher demand for its services.

In a March 5 news release, LiquidStack said the new facility comes as demand for liquid cooling services surges, on account of the rapid growth of generative AI in recent years.

LiquidStack, which works closely with data centers, said it plans to triple its manufacturing team by the end of 2024. Currently, the business has about 50 employees and said it plans to recruit workers at college career fairs throughout the year.

Generative artificial intelligence and the computing hardware in data centers that support AI technology are significantly driving up the demand for liquid cooling. That demand is expected to increase substantially as new AI chip generations are released, LiquidStack executives said.

“We are seeing incredibly high demand for liquid cooling globally as a result of the introduction of ultra-high TDP chips that are driving the scale and buildout of generative AI,” Joe Capes, CEO of LiquidStack, said in a statement.

The company's new headquarters in Carrollton and its manufacturing site spans a suite that is more than 20,000 square feet. The facility, located near Old Downtown Carrollton and bordering Farmers Branch, has been in operation since December 2023.

Dan Walker, plant manager at LiquidStack, said the company chose Carrollton for its “high level of diversity, amenities, jobs and housing” as well as the suburb's reputation for safety.

Walker also cited the ability to tap into the DFW talent pool.

“I made the Dallas/Ft. Worth area my home many years ago, and know first hand that we have the local expertise, talent, and reliability to achieve LiquidStack’s goals,” Walker said in a statement.

Fast-growing Carrollton is booming with new development, including a transit-oriented site in partnership with Dallas Area Rapid Transit.

Founded in 2012, LiquidStack was formerly called Allied Control Limited and was based in Marlborough, Mass. Outside of the U.S., the company also operates in Amsterdam and Hong Kong.

Known primarily as a two-phase cooling vendor, the company recently introduced a single-phase liquid cooling solution as part of its lineup. It also manufactures direct-to-chip Coolant Distribution Units and prefabricated data centers. The Carrollton site also plans to host training and demonstrations for its customers, including service engineers and several global partners.

Additionally, LiquidStack’s move to Carrollton comes as many technology companies have moved their headquarters to North Texas or expanded their foothold to the area. Security company Assa Abloy moved its U.S. headquarters to Plano earlier this year and industrial tech company Visitech recently doubled its operations in Allen.

A formal ribbon cutting for the new headquarters is expected to take place on March 22, which will include city leaders and business partners.

CARROLLTON, Texas, March 5, 2024 — LiquidStack, a global leader in liquid cooling for data centers, today announced its new U.S. manufacturing site and headquarters located in Carrollton, Texas. The new facility is a major milestone in LiquidStack’s mission to deliver high performance, cost-effective and reliable liquid cooling solutions for high performance data center and edge computing applications.

With a significant uptick in liquid cooling demand associated with scaling generative AI, the new facility enables LiquidStack to respond to customers’ needs in an agile fashion while maintaining the high-quality standards and service the company is known for.

Our investment in this new facility allows us to serve the rapidly growing market while creating new, high-skilled jobs right here in Carrollton,” said Joe Capes, CEO, LiquidStack.

The Carrollton, Texas LiquidStack manufacturing facility and headquarters occupies over 20,000 square feet. The company is aggressively hiring production staff with plans to more than triple the size of its current manufacturing team by year-end. LiquidStack recruiters will participate in career fairs at local colleges and universities throughout the year.

“As one of the safest communities in the country, Carrollton offers a high level of diversity, amenities, jobs and housing, which made it the perfect site for LiquidStack to build its state-of-the-art, high-efficiency manufacturing center and headquarters,” said Dan Walker, Plant Manager, LiquidStack. “I made the Dallas/Ft. Worth area my home many years ago, and know first hand that we have the local expertise, talent, and reliability to achieve LiquidStack’s goals.”

The new LiquidStack manufacturing facility has been in operation since December 2023, and a formal ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on March 22, 2024. Expected attendees include members of the city council and the Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce, as well as LiquidStack customers and partners.

BuzzBallz, the Carrollton-based company that makes spherical cocktails, is being acquired by New Orleans-based alcohol kingpin Sazerac.

The company’s founder and CEO, Merrilee Kick, started the company in 2010 when she was a teacher at Plano West Senior High School. Since then, the company’s value has skyrocketed and is reportedly worth at least $1 billion and reels in approximately $100 million in annual revenue.

Sazerac declined an interview request from The Dallas Morning News and BuzzBallz did not respond to an interview request. The financial terms behind the deal will not be disclosed, according to a press release.

But for BuzzBallz, the acquisition vindicates the work Kick has put in. She’s had many offers to acquire her company over the years, but Sazerac presented her with something she’d never seen before, an offer too good to refuse, she said.

“As a trailblazer in the ready-to-drink space, we have received many inquiries to acquire the company, however, Sazerac matched our innovative culture and spirit best,” she said. “They are a partner we can continue to grow with internationally, as well as expand our existing distribution footprint in the USA.”

BuzzBallz uses a racy advertising campaign with slogans and billboards asking customers to “Taste our Ballz” and “Why are they round?”

It’s no small feat for BuzzBallz. The company joins Sazerac’s portfolio which includes some of the biggest names in the industry like Fireball Cinnamon Whisky, Southern Comfort, Buffalo Trace Bourbon and more.

BuzzBallz’s unique product, a drink featuring an alcohol content of 15% ABV in a sphere-shaped container, is available in every state in the U.S. and 24 countries. According to Brewbound, a trade publication following the alcohol industry, BuzzBallz is the ninth-largest spirits product in terms of dollar sales in chain retail outlets.

Kick will remain at BuzzBallz as the company’s chief executive after the acquisition closes. For Sazerac CEO and President Jake Wenz, keeping Kick around was a top goal, he said.

“Merrilee and the team at BuzzBallz have created incredible brands and we are both honored & excited to partner together to take them to the next level,” Wenz said in the statement. “Merrilee’s creativity, commitment to quality and drive is inspiring. BuzzBallz is truly one-of-a-kind and we can’t wait to help spread the products to more consumers all over the world.”

It’s all up from here for Kick and BuzzBallz as it enters its next growth stage, she said.

A man who was injured in an explosion believed to be linked to natural gas at a Carrollton home on Saturday has filed a lawsuit against Atmos Energy.

Sergio Valdez suffered severe burns on his arms and face, according to the lawsuit.

The investigation into what caused the explosion is ongoing, but Fire Chief Michael Thompson told KXAS-TV that an underground gas leak may have gotten into the sewer pipe at the residence and built up in a bathroom. The blast ignited when someone lit a cigarette around 3:45 a.m.

Valdez and his wife, Raquel Garcia, are asking for over $1 million in damages.

“This is yet another tragic explosion case that arises from Defendant, Atmos Energy’s, gross negligence and longstanding pattern of valuing profits over human life, of which the citizens of DFW have become all too familiar,” the lawsuit states.

The explosion at the Carrollton home comes less than two weeks after a Jan. 8 explosion that blew out windows and walls on the first two floors of the Sandman Signature Hotel in downtown Fort Worth. Two stories collapsed into the basement, where the blast is thought to have originated, and 21 people were injured. The cause of that explosion remains under investigation, but fire officials think it was connected to natural gas.

At least eight lawsuits including 28 plaintiffs have been filed in the wake of the hotel explosion.

The lawsuits claim companies including the hotel and its owner Northland Properties, gas company Atmos Energy, and Rock Libations, the owner of the Musume restaurant in the hotel’s basement, knew there was a gas leak but didn’t warn the occupants of the building or attempt to evacuate them.

In the home explosion case, Carrollton Fire Rescue crews were dispatched to the 1800 block of Highland Drive shortly before 3:45 a.m. Saturday. They found evidence of an explosion in the single-family residence, officials said in a social media post. Firefighters quickly extinguished small amounts of fire at the location.

One person was found at the home and taken to a hospital in stable condition, the post said. There were no other injuries reported. Houses on both sides of the affected home were evacuated as a precaution.

The Carrollton Fire Marshal’s Office and Atmos Energy are investigating the cause of the explosion, officials said in the post.

“While the cause is still under investigation, we do remind our citizens if you smell gas inside your house, DO NOT turn on any lights, smoke cigarettes, or turn on stoves — get outside of the structure and call 911 to report it,” fire officials said in the post.

Another natural gas leak was discovered Friday afternoon in the area of East Seventh Street and Commerce Street in downtown Fort Worth, a short distance away from a leak that was discovered Jan. 16 outside the 777 Main St. tower.

Workers at a Stellantis distribution center in Carrollton joined a nationwide strike demanding increased wages, enhanced job security and improved conditions for temporary workers.

Employees at a General Motors parts distribution center in Roanoke and another at a Stellantis distribution center in Carrollton are the latest to join the strike against the major companies.

These workers are uniting with approximately 12,700 of their fellow colleagues across three assembly plants situated in Missouri, Ohio and Michigan, broadening the scope of a strike that was initiated over a week ago. The strike expanded to encompass workers at 38 different locations spanning across 20 states, primarily in distribution centers.

“This will impact these two companies’ repair operations,” United Auto Workers union president Shawn Fain said during a Facebook live video. “Our message to the consumer is simple. The way to fix the frustrating customer experience is for the companies to end price gouging — invest these record profits into stable jobs and sustainable wages and benefits.”

According to AP, only 12% of the union's membership is participating in the strike. The UAW possesses the potential to significantly increase the number of workers involved in the strike, potentially affecting assembly plants and parts facilities operated by General Motors, Ford and Stellantis.

One of the central points under discussion in the negotiations revolves around the need for increased wages, bolstered job security, fair treatment of temporary workers and the elimination of the existing "tier-based" pay systems within these companies. Fain expressed optimism in the live video, noting that there has been some headway regarding tiered wages. However, he also emphasized that achieving a resolution will require substantial effort and pressure on the part of both GM and Stellantis.

On Sept. 15, 2023, General Motors released a statement about the initiation of the strike at the first three assembly plants.

“We are disappointed by the UAW leadership’s actions, despite the unprecedented economic package GM put on the table, including historic wage increases and manufacturing commitments,” the statement said. “We will continue to bargain in good faith with the union to reach an agreement as quickly as possible for the benefit of our team members, customers, suppliers and communities across the U.S.”

President Joe Biden showed support for those participating in the strike and will join the workers against the automakers. He is set to arrive in Michigan on Sept. 26, days before Donald Trump is set to give his own speech in Michigan.
