Home Care Haslet, TX

They say that your golden years are the best years of your life. For most older Americans, that's how it should be - a time to relax, reflect, and live life in a familiar place. After all, senior citizens in the U.S. have worked tirelessly to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise families.

However, as seniors grow older, completing daily tasks like showering and enjoying activities such as visiting the historic Ball-Eddleman-Mc Farland-House gets harder without someone by their side. Unfortunately, many older Americans aren't able to rely on their adult children for help. The reality in today's world is that family members do not have the skills or time to dedicate to caring for their parents. That's where Always Best Care Senior Services comes in.

Our in-home care services are for people who prefer to stay at home as they grow older but need ongoing care that family or friends cannot provide. More and more older adults prefer to live far away from long-term, institutionalized facilities and closer to the place where they feel most comfortable - their home. Home care in Haslet, TX is a safe, effective way to give your loved ones the care they need when they need it the most.

“Dear Mr. Gardner, I am writing to express my gratitude for the commitment and service of your employee, Shameka Kelly. Through your agency, Ms. Kelly was connected to our family to serve as a caregiver for my sister Victoria who was in the late states of ALS/Lou Gehrigs disease and required 24-hr. care at home. Shameka served as full-time caregiver under the direction of Victorias husband Ron, who was able to keep my sister at home until her passing this past March. This catastrophic and incurable disease rendered my sister completely paralyzed wheelchair bound, unable to speak, bathe, eat or even lift a finger to do anything for herself. Shameka did what most caregivers would not or simply could not do because of the stamina and patience required to care for Victoria. Before Shameka, we hired a multitude of caregivers who came and went sometimes only after one day because of how strenuous and taxing being a caregiver to my sister was. Day after day, Shameka arrived for the job with a smile on her face and the patience and commitment to go with it. My sister Victoria grew to love Shameka, as we all have. It was a great comfort to us because we knew that if Shameka was on duty, my sister was in good hands. Shamekas character, integrity, humor, honesty and professionalism are beyond reproach. She is an extremely caring individual who is always upbeat, optimistic, and patient. She was an answer to prayer for our family and became more than a caregiver she became part of our family. She has my highest recommendation for any task or client that may be placed before her. And we will be forever grateful. Kindest regards, Pamela Meek North Richland Hills, TX”

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. So, if you've always wanted to eat at the local LeTara Grill & Bar or visit Hells Half Acre, don't feel bad. Doing so is great for both you and your loved one.

At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

If you have been on the fence about non-medical home care, there has never been a better time than now to give your senior the care, assistance, and companionship they deserve.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Haslet, TX, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your TX's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Haslet, TX understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

Respite Care Haslet, TX

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation
  • Personal Care

FORT WORTH, Texas — Crews responded to a large grass fire Wednesday afternoon in northwest Tarrant County.

The fire could be seen burning in a field near West Bonds Ranch Road and North Saginaw Boulevard, which is in an area near Fort Worth, Saginaw and Haslet along U.S. 287.

As of 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, the fire is 100% contained, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service. The fire burned an estimated 184 acres.

The fire started between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., according to Tarrant County Fire Marshall Randy Renois. He said a construction company currently doing underground cabling was cutting some rebar up, which caused sparks and the beginning of the fire. Once the wind shifted, it split the fire two ways and caused the fire to spread both northeast and northwest.

"We got people out here as quick as we could," Renois said. "I can't tell you how many fire trucks, brush trucks and personnel we have, but it's more than a handful. We have a bunch."

Renois said about six to seven homes had to be evacuated by the Gilmore Creen area.

Tom Le, a resident of 15 years in the area, told WFAA the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office asked him and his neighbors to evacuate.

"It was spreading quick," Le said. "It was just a big cloud of white smoke and black smoke, you couldn’t see nothing down the road. You never realize it’s that close to you."

"Shortly after we asked them to leave, it was all clear," Renois said. "So it was just a precaution because the fire jumped Peden Road just a little bit. Maybe a third of an acre? They put it out really quick."

Le said he was relieved. He told WFAA it was a wake-up call to the dangers of fire season.

"I need to have a better plan on what to pack," Le said. "You never know what’s gonna happen, especially nowadays, everything’s so dry."

Adam Turner of the Texas A&M Forest Service said his team requested assistance for the fire.

As of Wednesday night, Turner said he did not know of any structures damaged by the fire.

"There have been multiple fire departments coming in and out," Turner said. "Here in Tarrant County, there are lots of fire departments to come around and most of them are here to help."

Turner also said the high heat impacts the firefighters' ability to take care of the fire and requires many first responders to take breaks while working to stop it.

"It makes it more difficult," Turner said. "We can't work for as long without having to take breaks and cool off. All of that heat that's affecting us is also affecting all of this grass and brush that's out there."

— Incident Information - Texas A&M Forest Service (@AllHazardsTFS) July 19, 2023

Turner said, with it being the beginning of "fire season," many departments are ready to respond quickly.

"This is the normal period of time that we call fire season here in North Texas," Turner said. "Late end of July moving into August and September. We can now comfortably say that we're in fire season here in North Texas. It's something we need to be paying attention to."

"When you have such a large area burning like we do, we can't put it all out," Turner also said. "Even if we have a large body of water nearby, that's a ton of water to try and put out 100 acres of actively burning material. We're going to put out as much material as we can around the edge of it."

HASLET, Texas — Supply chain crisis.

Those three words have wiggled their way into so many conversations across the nation as Americans stare at inflation, labor shortages and product shortages, with almost a month to go until Christmas.

For weeks, we've seen images of backlogged ports on the West Coast.

Things have improved, but 71 container ships were anchored offshore outside Los Angeles and Long Beach ports just Friday, waiting to unload.

And North Texas?

Well, our region plays a significant role in getting those containers where they need to go.

Just north of Fort Worth, in the small town of Haslet, you'll find the BNSF Alliance Intermodal Facility.

It's part of the Alliance Global Logistics Hub, including the Fort Worth Alliance Airport, the FedEx Southwest Regional Sort Hub, and Amazon Air’s newest regional air hub, among 500-plus other companies in residence.

Running 24/7, BNSF receives freight at the facility and then offloads it for customers to drive it to their respective warehouses.

Customers using the facility are DHL/Excel, FedEx JC Penney, Michaels, Ryder Integrated Logistics, UPS Supply Chain Solutions, and Walmart, to name a few.

Twenty-three cranes run day and night throughout the facility, placing containers onto chassis, which are then parked in any of the facility's 6,607 parking spaces.

There's also room on the property to stack more than 600 containers if spaces fill up. BNSF has also juiced up its operations to alleviate shipping backlogs by deploying more than 1,000 locomotives and hundreds of rail cars.

However, John Gabriel, BNSF's Vice President of Operations for the southern sector, says the facility is not at capacity despite issues on the West Coast.

"We're well resourced to handle more than we currently are," Gabriel said.

The headache for BNSF (and ultimately consumers too) isn't moving freight in, but waiting for companies to come to pick it up.

Fifteen hundred containers come in and out of the facility daily, Gabriel said.

Before the West Coast mess, Gabriel says it would take 24 hours or less for a container to get driven out of the facility by a company.

That timeframe is much longer now.

"We've seen that more than double throughout the supply chain crisis to where we've got units that are sitting here, on average, more than two days," Gabriel said.

"We've also got several hundred units right here in Alliance that sat more than a week for a customer to come and take them to a distribution facility."

Gabriel also said that chassis, which are what containers sit on and trucks hook up to haul, aren't being returned to the facility as quickly.

"We've seen those times go from two to three days to more like eight or nine days in the current environment that we're in," Gabriel said.

That fact goes to show that unloading at distribution facilities is also snarling.

The facility was overwhelmed earlier this year in February during Texas' historic winter storm.

Then, BNSF said that container parking was packed and the count was approaching 9,000.

Around 1,200 containers were also ground-stacked.

Gabriel says there are no issues like that right now approaching the holidays.

"Any congestion can be found at an intersection like this where a customer and an entity like us come together," Gabriel said.

So what does Gabriel think about this question: Will things get better?

"We're counting on labor shortages to heal themselves, but we think this is really a demand function and don't see things getting better anytime soon," Gabriel said.

An Amazon warehouse in Texas is more dangerous than working in a psychiatric ward or a prison, leaked documents reveal.

Log books from the Haslet facility in Texas show injuries increasing from 2017 through 2019. Its Incident Rate (IR) - a measure of injury numbers relative to hours worked at a facility - was 8.15 in 2017, 8.72 the following year and last year 9.59.

To put those numbers in perspective a state psychiatric hospital has an IR of 7.4, a prison 7.3 and an aluminium foundry, 8.5. The report showed that the huge million-square-foot Amazon warehouse in Texas had a greater IR than all three.

In simpler terms around one in ten of the employees at the unit have been injured to the extent it has required reporting to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. These are not just scraped knees, the injuries have to meet a level that requires 'medical treatment beyond first aid,' Gizmodo reported.

Amazon's Haslet facility in Texas which averaged an Incident Rate of 8.82 in the last three years according to leaked dossiers from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration

Amazon previously told the news site that the reason for its high rating was because it took 'an aggressive stance on recording injuries no matter how big or small.'

However, this would not explain why injuries at Haslet have been rising annually.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has been accused of working staff too hard particularly in the run-up to the winter holiday season

The infamous 'peak season' in the run-up to the winter holidays took up a third of all injuries at the Texas facility.

The majority of these were recorded as sprains and bruises, but other injuries included heat stress, electric shocks, hernias, crushed hands and feet, concussions, fractures and lacerations.

It comes as employees at a New York facility called JFK8, on Staten Island claimed Amazon bosses 'care more about robots than about the employees'.

Jimpat Lacewell, who started working at Amazon in Staten Island in November, quit after three days because it reminded him of prison.

He also said CEO and founder Jeff Bezos could not finish a shift at the warehouse if he took part in the Undercover Boss reality TV show.

Lacewell told the Guardian: 'I would rather go back to a state correctional facility and work for 18 cents an hour than do that job. I'm sure Mr Bezos couldn't do a full shift at that place as an undercover boss.'

Rita Cummings, who works as a sorter on the outbound ship dock in three 12-hour shifts every week, has to scan a 1,800 Amazon packages an hour, which works out at around 30 every minute.

She claimed a manager asked if she was 'sure you can't see?' and tried to place her in unsuitable job tasks, despite her visual impairment disability meaning she can only perform certain roles.

She told the Guardian: 'I had a manager ask me: are you sure you can't see?

'There are days I say I'm just at the mercy of God. There has been no real change. There are still injuries. They were saying the report [into safety] is not accurate, but it's just a way for them to avoid responsibility.'

Some warehouse workers complained of a lack of safety in that some violations were 'brushed aside'.

An Amazon spokesperson said in a statement: 'Like most companies, we have performance expectations for every Amazonian and we measure actual performance against those expectations.'

And on safety, the company said: 'Any effort to paint our workplaces as unsafe based on the number of injury recordings is misleading given the size of our workforce.

'While many companies under-record safety incidents in order to keep their rates low, Amazon does the opposite – we take an aggressive stance on recording injuries no matter how big or small.

The warehouse, which opened in 2018, sits at the corner of Gulf and Bloomfield Avenues inside the Matrix Global Logistics Park in Staten Island, New York

'We believe so strongly in the environment provided for fulfillment center employees, including our safety culture, that we offer public tours where anyone can come see for themselves one of our sites and its working conditions first-hand.'

Last August, Bezos was slammed on social media for throwing a multi-million dollar concert for certain head office employees not long after warehouse workers went on strike over pay and conditions.

He was spotted partying with celebrities such as Katy Perry and Lil Nas X backstage at Amazon's Post-Prime Day concert for employees in Seattle.

From a Google Maps view, the landscape around Haslet looks like a printed circuit board, just waiting for microchips to fill in the blank spots.

Tri Pointe Homes and M/I Homes will soon add a major chip to that circuit board. The two builders announced a joint venture that will plug in 900 new homes near Haslet.

Called LaPrelle, the planned community will be built on 372 acres west of Haslet. The space is there.

This is significant given the growth and development of communities north and northwest of Fort Worth. LaPrelle will be near Alliance Airport, BNSF Railway Co., an Amazon Fulfillment Center, and several distribution warehouses.

The additional housing inventory should come in handy. Haslet’s city limits occupy two counties — Tarrant and Denton. According to the MetroTex Association of Realtors, Tarrant had only 0.6 months of inventory and had 0.5. The city has a definitive strategic plan for growth.

Despite its population (Census estimate in 2019 was 1,923), Haslet has a healthy home value index. According to Zillow, the typical value of homes in Haslet is $567,296. Home values have gone up 25.2 percent in the past year. The average home value in Denton County is $440,350 and Tarrant County $345,000.
