For the fifth year in a row, the Lone Tree Brewing Company is continuing to support the Douglas County Bridge Program by hosting its annual Charity Car and Bike Show.
Judy Jordan, who has been the principal of the school district’s Bridge Program for more than a decade, this annual event has brought her so much joy.
“(Lone Tree Brewing Company) is just so supportive,” Jordan said. “They’re supportive of our students and their employment skills.”
The Douglas County Bridge Program helps young adults ages 18 to 21 transition from school to the adult world through different types of real-life learning experiences.
With a goal to help the students strive for independence, the program works with students to prepare for daily living, which includes cooking, cleaning, time management, budgeting and more. The program also helps students with social-emotional skills, prepare for employability and build knowledge of community locations, resources and services.
Currently, the program has 130 students enrolled across Douglas County. There are three classes in Parker, three classes in Lone Tree, five classes in Highlands Ranch, one class at the Legacy Campus and one class at UCHealth.
While the Bridge Program gets funding from the school district, Jordan said the program is highly community-based and relies on community fundraising to supplement resources.
“We do a lot of our classroom teaching out in the community so the students know how to access their community as independently as possible,” Jordan said.
Since 2021, the Lone Tree Brewing Company has sponsored the annual event and has helped raise more than $34,000 for the Bridge Program.
Jordan said that these funds help support the funds the program gets from the school district by helping the students go out into the community and pay for things such as RTD tickets, supplies for their cooking classes and technology.
This year, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept 20, the car show is back. Those who have restored a classic car or just want to show their car off can register with the brewer. Attendees will also be able to get an up-close look at some motorcycles.
“There’s a lot of car shows around, so it’s just nice when guys pick ours to come to,” Jordan said.
Inside the Lone Tree Brewing company, attendees who are 21 years and older can enjoy a variety of beers on tap and can bid on any of the 40 silent auction items, one item having been donated by Colorado Motorcycle Adventures.
The Lone Tree Brewing Company partnered with Colorado Motorcycle Adventure, a local motorcycle dealer, to include a fully outfitted Aprilia Tuareg 660 bike, which is valued at $25,000, in the auction. Bidding for the outfitted adventure bike will be open one week before the event.
The link for the silent auction can be found at secure.smore.com/n/9gqrd.
All car and motorcycle registration and silent auction proceeds will go to the Douglas County Bridge Program.
“Your support helps empower these students and directly contributes to their success in adulthood,” Lone Tree’s Director of Tasting Rooms Mike Webster said in a statement.
For Jordan, it’s a positive opportunity for the students to get to know each other and the community.
“It’s really fun to see them outside of school and how much fun they have together outside of school,” Jordan said.
The event will be held at The Lone Tree Brewing Company’s main location at 8200 Park Meadows Drive, Suite 8222.
