BELCAMP, Md. (WBFF) — Three puppies found abandoned in a box along a Belcamp walking trail in October are now healthy, growing, and officially ready for adoption, according to the Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC).
The puppies were discovered on the morning of Oct. 18 by a passerby walking along a trail near Route 7 and Creswell Road, close to the Riverside Apartments.
Inside a box were four puppies believed to be only one or two days old.
“Newborn puppies like these need their mother,” said Amanda Hickman, executive director of HSHC, in a press release at the time. “We’re so grateful that someone found them when they did. Just a few more hours in the cold could have been tragic.”
The Good Samaritan rushed the puppies to the Humane Society, where staff provided emergency care.
One team member took the litter home overnight, and a foster parent stepped in later to continue caring for them.
Despite the lifesaving efforts, the smallest puppy in the litter did not survive.

The remaining three puppies — two males and one female — continued to grow and recover in foster care.
On Thursday, HSHC announced the puppies are now about two months old and ready to find permanent homes!
The trio returned to the shelter for a meet-and-greet event, after which prospective adopters can schedule appointments by emailing [email protected].
While their breed mix is unknown, shelter staff expect the puppies to grow into small-to-medium sized dogs.
Each puppy’s adoption fee is $250.
Hickman has previously urged pet owners who may be struggling to reach out for help rather than abandon animals.
If you find yourself with a litter you can’t care for, please call us,” she said. “We’re here to help, with no judgement and no shaming. We have a pet food pantry, affordable vaccine clinics, and other resources so no pet parent should feel their only choice is abandonment.
