Home Care In Vienna, VA

Home Care Vienna, VA

They say that your golden years are the best years of your life. For most older Americans, that's how it should be - a time to relax, reflect, and live life in a familiar place. After all, senior citizens in the U.S. have worked tirelessly to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise families.

However, as seniors grow older, completing daily tasks like showering and enjoying activities such as visiting Schnbrunn Palace in Vienna, VA gets harder without someone by their side. Unfortunately, many older Americans aren't able to rely on their adult children for help. The reality in today's world is that family members do not have the skills or time to dedicate to caring for their parents. That's where Always Best Care Senior Services comes in.

Our in-home care services are for people who prefer to stay at home as they grow older but need ongoing care that family or friends cannot provide. More and more older adults prefer to live far away from long-term, institutionalized facilities and closer to the place where they feel most comfortable - their home. Home care in Vienna, VA is a safe, effective way to give your loved ones the care they need when they need it the most.

TESTIMONIALS

“Always Best Care was a godsend for our family. When my dad needed immediate care, Mr. Rashid and his team stepped in with kindness, skill, and professionalism. I knew Always Best Care was different right from the initial assessment. Mr. Rashid, the owner, came with a nurse to meet my father, and together they quickly earned his trust. Other agencies had done similar assessments, but their staff barely interacted with him. The Always Best Care team, on the other hand, engaged with my dad and encouraged him to do things he hadn’t done in months — walking, stretching, showering, even playing word games. Their expertise and compassion gave me peace of mind, knowing my dad was not only being cared for but also gently challenged in ways I couldn’t manage on my own. My dad especially loved Ms. Renette, whose patience and kindness won him over, and Ms. Bouchra, who motivated him to stretch and walk outside after months of not doing so. Thank you, Always Best Care, for supporting our family and helping make such a difficult time easier and kinder.”

“Our experience with Always Best Care has been truly great. Rashid has been a source of support and we are grateful! In particular, he was very helpful in helping us select a senior living facility for our parents. He did all the leg work in narrowing down our list to those he felt matched our requirements and then helped us tour the finalists . This allowed us to make an informed decision and we are very happy with the results . Rashid cares deeply about the welfare of his clients and goes above and beyond to provide what is best for them!”

“I cannot say enough wonderful things about this company and the owner Rashid Farrell. We were searching for in home care for our aging parents so that we could keep them in the home they love for as long as possible. We began our search with our parent's primary physician, and he provided us with the names of a couple of agencies...one being Always Best Care. We spoke with Rashid about the type of care we were looking for and the specific needs of our parents and he listened carefully and provided wonderful insight and advice to us. He explained how and why he got into this particular business and it was mostly because of his own experience wanting the best care for his parents as they aged. He approaches his business from a caring and compassionate place and provided a care plan specific to our needs. He even found us a night caregiver in just a few short hours in the evening after our mom fell and broke her scapula and the hospital needed to release her ... at that time, we only had care from 9 to 5. He follows up constantly...checking in to make sure we are happy with the service we are getting. He also helped us transition our parents to an assisted living facility when the time came. His caregivers are kind and responsible. Our parents became very fond of Ms. Almaz as she was their main caregiver, but they also enjoyed the company of Ms. Salay, Ms. Stacy, Ms. Millie and Ms. Renette. If I had to do this all over again, I would definitely use Always Best Care...The name is appropriate because Rashid does provide the absolute Best Care for our aging loved ones!”

“If you're looking for care for a loved one and don't know who to trust, look no further. Rashid and his team of caregivers at Always Best Care Senior Services provided top-notch care for my 88-year-old mother over the course of several weeks. I was impressed by Rashid's professionalism, responsiveness, and dependability. When I first contacted him, he took the time to meet with me and my mother at her residence to better understand our needs. He always managed to line up high-quality caregivers, often on short notice. My mother was not in a good place mentally and resisted receiving care from strangers, yet she told me she was pleased with each of the caregivers that Rashid sent her way. My thanks to Ms. Martine, Ms. Barbara, Ms. Gidy, and Ms. Anna. They drove my mother to various appointments, helped her communicate with her healthcare providers, and supported her emotionally. I should also mention that the billing process was straightforward and transparent, with no surprises. Finding care for a loved one can be daunting and scary. You won't be disappointed if you turn to Rashid and his team.”

“We have been using Always Best Home Care Services for the last week as my mother transitioned from one memory care to another. She needed a little extra support during this big change and we were referred to Always Best. The owner Rashid, is one of the most professional, kind, knowledgable and detail oriented people I have ever worked with. We have used 2 other home care companies in the past, and the customer service Rashid provided was absolutely above and beyond. He was very communicative and updated me every step of the way to ensure a seamless transition for my mom. He made sure we had the appropriate care professionals who could fit our specific needs as well. His care team was top notch and we were thrilled with the care my mom received during this time. Ms. Monse, Ms. Judy, Ms. Aisha, Ms. Ling and Ms. Esther were all wonderful and made a valiant effort to keep my mom on her routine throughout the day while also keeping her stimulated. We are so thankful we found Always Best Home care services and would 100% wholeheartedly recommend Rashid and his team.”

What is Non-Medical Senior Care in Vienna, VA?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. So, if you've always wanted to eat at the local Steirereck or visit Hofburg, don't feel bad. Doing so is great for both you and your loved one.

At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Vienna, VA, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

 Elderly Care Vienna, VA

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your VA's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.
 Senior Care Vienna, VA

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Vienna, VA understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

 Respite Care Vienna, VA

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Caregivers who work at assisted living communities can also provide medication administration and personal care services for older adults.

Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation
  • Personal Care
 Caregivers Vienna, VA

At Always Best Care, our representatives can match your senior's emotional, physical, and financial needs with viable assisted living communities nearby. Results are based on comparative data, so you can select the best choice for you or your loved one.

Always Best Care works closely with local senior living communities to gain valuable knowledge that we then use to help seniors and their loved ones make informed decisions. This information can include basic care and rent, resident availability, and services provided. Because Always Best Care is compensated by these communities, we provide senior living referral services at no extra cost to you.

Some of the most popular assisted living communities to consider in our area include the following:

  • Sunrise of Vienna
  • Vienna Manor
  • Tysons Woods Assisted Living
  • Greenbrier Assisted Living and Memory Care
  • Sunrise of McLean
  • Sunrise at Hunter Mill
Home Care Vienna, VA

For many seniors, moving into a senior living community revolves around how and when they want to make a transition to more involved care. Some seniors are more proactive about transitioning to independent living. Others choose to remain home until their care needs or other requirements are satisfied. Two people were injured in a major house fire in the Wolf Trap area this morning (Thursday) amid a warning of elevated fire danger for Northern Virginia.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 1900 block of Hunter Mill Road around 10:13 a.m. for the fire at a single-family home. Upon arriving, responders observed “a large volume of fire,” per scanner traffic, and smoke from the blaze could reportedly be seen from Tysons.

“Firefighters are working to bring the fire under control,” the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department said on social media just before noon. “2 civilians evaluated for non-life-threatening injuries.”

No firefighter injuries have been reported. As of press time, Hunter Mill Road remains closed between Hunter Station Road and Lawyers Road.

According to scanner traffic, several fire and medical units were also dispatched around 10:52 a.m. to a house fire in the 7200 block of Deveraux Court in the Hayfield area near Kingstowne.

Upon arriving, responders reported that there was no visible fire, but they detected “a strong electrical smell” and encountered the home’s sole occupant, who had evacuated, per the scanner.

“We have quite a bit of smoke,” a firefighter reported when investigating the basement, indicating that the fire could be coming from a utility room.

A mix of dry conditions, strong winds and low humidity has increased the risk of wildfires in Northern Virginia, including Fairfax County, today, prompting the National Weather Service to issue elevated fire danger warning for the area that’s scheduled to stay in place through 5 p.m.

????Elevated Fire Danger Today????Dry conditions, gusty winds, & low humidity are creating an elevated threat for fires through this evening. Wind gusts 25–30mph increase the risk for the rapid fire spread. ????Don’t toss cigarette butts/matches ??Avoid using equipment that can spark pic.twitter.com/zswubNZY1D

Community members are advised to properly dispose of any flammable items, including cigarette butts and matches, and to avoid using outdoor equipment that could create sparks.

“Any small spark can start a fire that spreads fast,” Fairfax County said in an emergency blog post. “Dry grass, dead leaves and tree litter will ignite easily in these conditions. Once a fire starts, strong winds will push it quickly across the ground.”

The full elevated fire warning is below.

…ELEVATED FIRE DANGER FOR EASTERN WEST VIRGINIA, NORTHERN AND CENTRAL VIRGINIA, AND MOST OF MARYLAND THROUGH 5PM TODAY…

The combination of 10 hour fuel moistures around 10 percent relative humidities around 25 to 35 percent, and wind gusts around 25 to 30 mph, and up to 40 mph on exposed ridges, will lead to an increased risk for the rapid spread of wildfires today. This is also being paired with poor overnight recoveries at elevations above 1500 feet, which may even further enhance the threat in those areas.

Residents and visitors are urged to properly dispose of cigarette butts, matches, and any other flammable items in appropriate containers. Additionally, exercise caution if operating any equipment that could create sparks and keep vehicles off of dry grass. Most dry grasses, dead leaves, and other tree litter could easily ignite and spread fire quickly.

Lastly, remember to obey local burn bans. For more information about wildfire danger, burn restrictions, and wildfire prevention and education, please visit your state forestry or environmental protection website.

An advance funding agreement for the proposed pool and fitness center in Vienna received approval from a majority of Town Council.

VIENNA, VA — Vienna Town Council voted 5-1 to approve an advance funding agreement for design of the proposed pool and fitness center facility on Monday. The proposed facility does not have final approval, but it will start the design phase.

The agreement is for a $3 million interest-free advance from Vienna-headquartered Navy Federal Credit Union. Leslie Herman, the Town of Vienna's parks and recreation director, said the funds would go toward hiring a construction management consultant and architectural and engineering teams to complete design and construction documents for the proposed facility. The town would oversee the design process.

Town staff confirmed there would be additional decision points on the project, including awarding a contract, reviewing design and advancing to construction with cost feasibility in mind.

Town Council meeting documents said funding for an estimated $25 million project cost could come from municipal bonds and other revenue sources to include the meals tax. Town Council had passed a 1 percent meals tax increase to support capital projects, a proposal originally intended to be temporary to fund the proposed pool and fitness center.

Under the advance funding agreement, the town would reimburse Navy Federal Credit Union likely through the 2030 bond year cycle, with an anticipated closing in December 2029. The town would not owe Navy Federal Union interest on the $3 million advance.

When the pool and fitness center was first proposed in 2024 for the annex property at 301 Center Street S, the credit union pledged interest-free financing for design. Town Attorney Steve Briglia said Navy Federal Credit Union similarly advanced funds to help the town make road improvements to address backups out of their headquarters.

"They've been toying with the idea of trying to have some kind of fitness center on site, but they don't have enough people to justify it at any one time," said Briglia. "So when they heard about this, they said, 'well, a lot of our employees are residents of Vienna, can we do something like what we did for Follin Lane and help you jumpstart the project,' maybe get it started a little sooner, with the idea that hopefully their employees would be able to join."

The town attorney said Town Council could decide how to move forward with the project once the team develops design plans.

Councilmember Chuck Anderson introduced an amendment for the town to not face financial penalties or obligations beyond the agreement's repayment terms if they don't move forward with the proposed pool and fitness center. That motion failed 2-4. Councilmember Sandra Allen was not present for the votes.

"I want to emphasize to this council, I'm not bringing this up as a tactic to kill this aquatic facility," said Anderson. "I'm concerned about the town's protection in case this does go south. And all I'm asking is just what we understand to be true is to be explicitly put in this agreement, which is essentially, there's no financial penalties or obligation should we decide not to go forward."

Councilmember Ray Brill countered that the town needs to be clear what the advance funding is going toward under the agreement.

"I think that the proposed amendments adds in an uncertainty that we don't need, don't want, and I am not sure the Navy Federal would be too pleased with this effort," said Brill.

Mayor Linda Colbert emphasized the design focus of the funding agreement.

"We've not heard that it implies anything if we actually didn't build it, which, of course, is an option," said Colbert. "I guess that could happen down the road, but nothing in here says anything about building."

Councilmember Jessica Ramakis said the agreement doesn't make it an obligation

"I would feel a concern if I thought this suggested that we were under an expectation to proceed with this project in any circumstance," said Ramakis. "I don't read it that way, so I'm comfortable with it as it's drafted...But I do think this being one piece of the broader effort and the shared understanding that there are future decision points, and this is just the one about the advance."

Town Council documents indicate that design development and preliminary planning will happen in the current 2025-2026 fiscal year, followed by completion of final design in the 2026-2027 fiscal year.

One X user shared a time-lapse video. You can tell there’s cloud cover in the video, Storm Team4 Meteorologist Chuck Bell said.

“But the clouds were able to be illuminated by the northern lights above them, so that helped a little bit,” Bell said.

Another surge of solar energy could make the aurora visible again on Wednesday, and Storm Team4 Meteorologist Chuck Bell says clearer skies will help your chances of seeing it (especially if you’re away from urban light pollution).

The aurora was visible over much of the country as geomagnetic storms reached strong and severe conditions, space weather forecasters with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said.

Severe geomagnetic storms could disrupt radio and GPS communications, according to the forecasters.

How bright the auroras are and how far south they are visible will depend on when the solar bursts get here and how they interact with Earth's atmosphere. The vibrant displays could be visible across much of the northern U.S., and as far south as Alabama and Northern California.

How to see the northern lights in the D.C. area

The best aurora views may come from phone cameras, which are better at capturing light than the naked eye.

Daniel Weatherholt was able to photograph a view of the aurora over the National Cathedral in D.C. last year.

Go to a local or national park away from lights for your best chance to catch a glimpse of the phenomenon. Whenever you're skygazing, avoid looking at your phone and other lights for several minutes to give your eyes a chance to adjust.

The sun is at the maximum phase of its 11-year activity cycle, making the light displays more common and widespread. Colorful northern lights have decorated night skies in unexpected places and space weather experts say there are more auroras still to come.

Aurora displays known as the northern and southern lights are commonly visible near the poles, where charged particles from the sun interact with Earth’s atmosphere.

Skygazers are spotting the lights deeper into the United States and Europe because the sun is going through a major face-lift. Every 11 years, its poles swap places, causing magnetic twists and tangles along the way.

Last year, the strongest geomagnetic storm in two decades slammed Earth, producing light displays across the Northern Hemisphere. And soon afterward, a powerful solar storm dazzled skygazers far from the Arctic Circle when dancing lights appeared in unexpected places including Germany, the United Kingdom, New England and New York City.

The sun’s active spurt is expected to last at least through the end of this year, though when solar activity will peak won’t be known until months after the fact, according to NASA and NOAA.

Solar storms can bring more than colorful lights to Earth.

When fast-moving particles and plasma slam into Earth’s magnetic field, they can temporarily disrupt the power grid. Space weather can also interfere with air traffic control radio and satellites in orbit. Severe storms are capable of scrambling other radio and GPS communications.

In 1859, a severe solar storm triggered auroras as far south as Hawaii and set telegraph lines on fire in a rare event. And a 1972 solar storm may have detonated magnetic U.S. sea mines off the coast of Vietnam.

Space weather experts aren’t able to predict a solar storm months in advance. Instead, they alert relevant parties to prepare in the days before a solar outburst hits Earth.

Vienna residents push back against redistricting plan that could transform ‘hometown’ high school community

The mayor and parents say proposed boundary changes would fracture town identity and send students miles away from Madison High.

VIENNA, Va. — A proposed redistricting plan from Fairfax County Public Schools is sparking frustration among Vienna residents who say it threatens a key part of their town’s identity: James Madison High School.

For decades, Madison has been considered the “hometown high school,” even though it technically sits just outside Vienna’s boundary line. However, under a new redistricting scenario, roughly 90 students living in northeast Vienna would be reassigned to George C. Marshall High School in Falls Church, about six miles away.

Vienna Mayor Linda Colbert said the proposal breaks a long-standing understanding between the town and the school district.

“We gave the schools land so that all of Madison would be in the county and some of it would be in Vienna, and in exchange, all kids would be going to Madison High School,” Colbert said. “They’ve always, up to this point, seemed to understand the community around Madison High School.”

FCPS is conducting its first major boundary review in nearly 40 years to address overcrowding, ensure equitable access to programs and facilities, and balance travel times. The redistricting discussions are ongoing, but parents and town leaders say the draft plan ignores the close relationship between Madison and Vienna.

“It’s known as the hometown high school,” Colbert said. “Those kids are going to feel left out. We’re Town of Vienna residents, but we can’t participate in all of these wonderful events? That’s not right.”

Resident Eric Finke, who has two Madison graduates and a current student enrolled there, said he first learned about the possible changes last week. He worries about the impact on traffic, property values, and most importantly, the sense of community.

“It’s the heart of the community,” Finke said. “To remove a section of the town to a school that’s already overcrowded seems to be against FCPS’s own guidelines for this kind of exercise.”

Finke said the proposal would “fracture the town of Vienna by cutting off this sliver” and make it harder for students to take part in Madison’s homecoming traditions and local events that tie the school to the community.

Mayor Colbert, whose parents both served in the Vienna government, said her family has long valued the partnership between the town and its schools. She and several residents plan to meet with Superintendent Michelle Reid next week to urge her to keep the current boundaries intact.

A public meeting to discuss the redistricting proposal is scheduled at McLean High School next Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
