JAMISON, PA — The new Grocery Outlet store bustled with shoppers Thursday morning after officially opening its doors at the Warwick Square Shopping Center on York Road in Jamison.
Shoppers lined up early for the 8 a.m. opening with the promise of a gift card for the first 100 in line. The cards carried amounts ranging from $5 to $500.
By 10 a.m. the store was buzzing with energy as shoppers checked out the newest addition to the grocery store scene and wheeled their carts through the aisles where they were greeted by the word “WOW” - as in low prices - at every turn.
Standing beneath a balloon archway out in front of the store, Independent Store Operators Bill and Starla Lohr officially cut the ribbon on the 25,000-square-foot “extreme value” grocery store and presented $1,000 donation to the United Way of Bucks County and a $500 donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bucks County.

“We are so thrilled to be a part of the Jamison community and provide some relief with big savings on quality groceries,” said the Lohr’s who were accompanied by their three young children. “This partnership with Grocery Outlet gives us the ability to grow our business, create new jobs and more importantly, give back to the local community.”
Grocery Outlet offers a full range of products, including fresh produce, meat, deli, and dairy, along with a wide assortment of natural and organic choices. The store also carries a large selection of health and beauty care, and seasonal items.

“We are super, super blessed to be here today. It’s been a journey partnering with Grocery Outlet,“ said Bill, who operated two sports bars in the San Francisco Bay Area for years before deciding to become an owner/operator of a Grocery Outlet, which was more conducive to raising a young family.
The couple had their eye on northern Idaho, but instead came East, first to train in South Carolina and then to open a Grocery Outlet here.
“We never thought we’d be here in Jamison. Not knowing the area and having lived all over the nation we wouldn’t have thought that we’d love it so much,” said Bill.
Starla added her thanks “for the people who helped us get here,” including the trainers who provided the couple with the background and expertise and the owners of the Grocery Outlet stores in Warminster and Quakertown who she said “helped pave the way.”
The owners and the new store were officially welcomed to the community by a contingent of public officials including Theresa Fera, president and CEO of the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce, and Warwick Township Manager Kyle Seckinger.
“We love seeing our community grow,” said Fera. “And it’s great to see you here in Jamison fulfilling a need.
“Make no mistake,” said Fera. “These folks are going to make a profound impact on the lives of their employees, customers, neighbors and our broader community with the compassion and passion that they bring.
“So when you’re shopping here think about that. You’re investing in our local community, you’re investing in the Bill and Starla team and that really lifts all of us,” said Fera. “With incredible gratitude, I’m looking forward to a bright future working with these folks.”
According to Seckinger, for years the question on everyone’s mind in Warwick was whether the shopping center could attract another grocery store to fill the void left when the Giant moved to the Doylestown Pointe Shopping Center in 2019.
“We are very excited they were able to get a grocery store, something that I know the township has wanted and something we know the community has wanted,” said Seckinger. “I encourage everyone to shop here and I hope you prosper here,” he told the Lohr’s.
The Lohr’s were also presented with a proclamation from State Senator Frank Farry and from State Rep. Kristin Marcell. They also accepted a flag flown over the U.S. Capital from US Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick.
Based in California, Grocery Outlet sells the same trusted brands as traditional grocery stores but at lower prices, said the Lohr’s. Its buyers scour the country to find the top manufacturers with excess inventory and seasonal closeouts so Grocery Outlet can offer “WOW savings” on thousands of name-brand products at significantly lower prices, they said.
The company has more than 450 locations throughout California, Idaho, Maryland, New Jersey, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Washington.
In celebration of the opening, from now through March 21 customers can enter for a chance to win $1,000 in groceries. To enter, customers may access the online contest here. Entries must include a valid, working email address where the entrant can be notified. The winner need not be present to win but must claim the prize within three days of notification, or another winner will be chosen. The contest is valid only at the Jamison Grocery Outlet.
