She does bathing for my husband, who is almost bedbound. She does other simple health-related things for him. For me, she helps with my bathing because I have a bad back and bad knees. Dubbed “the essential duo,” Grammy Award winners Pizzarelli and Russell transport audiences to the glory days of jazz with masterful ease. Pizzarelli, a renowned guitarist, vocalist and bandleader, has been hailed by The Boston Globe for “reinvigorating the Great American Songbook” and he has expanded that repertoire to include Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Tom Waits, Antônio Carlos Jobim, and The Beatles. Described by NPR for her “voice that wails like a horn and whispers like a snake in the Garden of Eden”, vocalist Catherine Russell has performed on four continents. Her repertoire features a selection of gems from the 1920s through the present, bursting with soul and humor. Born into musical royalty, she is the daughter of the late Luis Russell, a legendary pianist/composer/bandleader, and Louis Armstrong’s long-time musical director, and Carline Ray, a pioneering vocalist/guitarist/bassist.
