WILLIS, Texas (KTRK) -- The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is investigating actions by a middle school player at a football game in Willis.
The sheriff's office confirms charges have been filed against a teen accused of assaulting a player from the opposing junior high school football team.
Parents told ABC13 it happened at the Barbham Middle School football field during Tuesday's 8th grade game against Stockton Junior High.
The victim's family spoke only to ABC13 as they seek accountability.
Parents told ABC13 they were disturbed to see what was going on during an 8th grade football game when they said a 13-year-old boy was hurt and dragged by a player on the other team. And it was all caught on video.
The Montgomery County Sheriff confirms assault charges have been filed in this case.
"Yeah, I'm outraged! You know? This is ridiculous," the 13-year-old victim's father, Cartez Rasberry Sr., said.
In a video obtained exclusively by ABC13, cameras captured the moment a player from Barbham Middle School shoved a player from Stockton Junior High School to the ground, kicked him, and then pulled him by his helmet.
Eyewitness News blurred the faces and numbers on the jerseys because of all the minors on the football field.
The victim's father says he ran to the field to check on his 13-year-old son, and so did other parents. The game was called.
"He had most of his soreness and pressure around his head and neck area, and I know for a fact that was from the pulling of the helmet," Rasberry said.
On Thursday, his son is doing better, with an X-ray scheduled for Friday.
Rasberry said he reached out to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Wednesday morning after the game to report what happened. He told ABC13 a deputy called him 30 minutes after his initial call and was told the county attorney was taking the case.
When ABC13 started asking questions, MCSO confirmed they investigated the case and assault charges have now been filed.
"As a father, I'm going to fight. Not going to stop until we get justice that we deserve," Rasberry said. "In a case like this, he should be banned. He should be banned because we're in regulated school stages now."
"Those kids are going to high school. Is he going to make it like this in high school?," Rasberry exclaimed. "Are they going to allow him to use this force and 'angerment' to other players in high school?"
The Willis Independent School District told ABC13 that the students were "engaging after the play," but video doesn't show that the victim was even able to defend himself.
The school district says their students' behavior was addressed, but wouldn't say how, or whether the student is still on the team.
