Home Care In Los Angeles, CA

Home Care Los Angeles, CA

They say that your golden years are the best years of your life. For most older Americans, that's how it should be - a time to relax, reflect, and live life in a familiar place. After all, senior citizens in the U.S. have worked tirelessly to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise families.

However, as seniors grow older, completing daily tasks like showering and enjoying activities such as visiting Bradbury Building in Los Angeles, CA gets harder without someone by their side. Unfortunately, many older Americans aren't able to rely on their adult children for help. The reality in today's world is that family members do not have the skills or time to dedicate to caring for their parents. That's where Always Best Care Senior Services comes in.

Our in-home care services are for people who prefer to stay at home as they grow older but need ongoing care that family or friends cannot provide. More and more older adults prefer to live far away from long-term, institutionalized facilities and closer to the place where they feel most comfortable - their home. Home care in Los Angeles, CA is a safe, effective way to give your loved ones the care they need when they need it the most.

The Always Best Care Difference

Since 1996, Always Best Care has provided non-medical in-home care for seniors to help them maintain a healthy lifestyle as they get older. We are proud to have helped more than 25,000 seniors maintain higher levels of dignity and respect. We focus on providing seniors with the highest level of in-home care available so that they may live happily and independently.

Unlike some senior care companies, we genuinely want to be included in our clients' lives. We believe that personalized care is always the better option over a "one size fits all" approach. To make sure our senior clients receive the best care possible, we pair them with compassionate caregivers who understand their unique needs. That way, they may provide care accordingly without compromising their wellbeing.

The Always Best Care difference lies in life's little moments - where compassionate care and trustworthy experience come together to help seniors live a fruitful, healthy life. Whether you are an aging adult that can't quite keep up with life's daily tasks or the child of a senior who needs regular in-home services, Always Best Care is here to help.

“My mother is 87 years old and is challenged with Alzheimer's and Dementia. We were referred to Always Best Care Senior Services by her physicians to allow a bit of rest for her fulltime family caregiver as well as give my mother an opportunity to experience a change for her cognitive stimulation. We were so blessed to have an amazing Care Manager, Ashley who coordinated all appointments and visits. Ashely's intake included vital questions about my mother's personality, likes and dislikes to match her with the appropriate caregiver. It worked! My mother was matched with Ms. Chyrlene. She is vibrant, and a burst of energy which was a great match. We are assessing the needs of my mother to either increase hours and or days. The companionship and time spent was thoroughly enjoyable by all.”

“I feel extraordinarily grateful to have connected with this agency, specifically with Dr. Hart, during a time in my life when my husband of 60 years was a victim of that horrible illness-Alzheimers. Dr.Hart provided a support system that helped me identify my strengths, handle my despair, and be present for my husband in a way that nurtured and uplifted him. I have continued to meet with Dr. Hart periodically when I feel the need to clarify my progress without a mate. He is so sensitive and perceptive that I always leave our meetings with a plan. I'm also grateful for the positive and loving environment created by his staff so every visit to the office is nurturing. Of course, the services available provide me the comfort of knowing when and if I find myself in need of elder care, Always Best will be my first and only choice.”

“I highly recommend Always Best Care for every aspect from the ones seeking care for a loved one or themselves, all the way to the ones seeking an opportunity to care for a senior. I personally worked for ABC, and throughout my years with them I had the pleasure of interacting with the seniors as well as with the amazing caregivers. From the stories of a much more simpler time in the elders life to the reasons from a caregiver wanting to truly care for the seniors. (Most reasons are personal to them that have impacted their life and heart). This is truly a caring company with exceptional professional staff. It's hard to find a company that demonstrates both of those traits....”

“Always Best Care agency has been wonderful to work with. The caregivers they have provided to stay with my dear friend, who has dementia, have been outstanding. My husband, an MD, and I, an RN, have rather high standards and have found all of the caregivers to be professional, caring and extremely reliable (24/7 care in this case) They go above and beyond expectations. I have felt safe with the caregivers,as they are also down-to-earth; caring people. Dr. David Hart is the main point person in this family-run agency and he is not only a very caring person, he is extremely intelligent in his communication, yet very down-to earth at the same time. He is responsive to any issues that arise immediately…not only for the client, but also to his caregivers, who he genuinely cares about. That is perhaps why he attracts and retains such stellar employees, We feel very lucky to have found ABC Senior Care services. Ilene Watson, RN and Dr. Walter Watson,MD, Manhattan Beach, CA”

“Carrie, David, and their team are terrific to work with. Carrie has been a lifesaver by helping us to quickly find a wonderful 24/7 board and care facility for our loved one who is suffering from both advanced dementia and a broken, severe arthritic neck. They have provided very capable temporary care givers to us to help with taking our loved one to doctor's appointments and during the time our loved one was being treated in the hospital. David has thoroughly educated us on all aspects of dementia and counseled the family members to help sort out their emotions during these difficult times. “My son and I have received family counseling from Dr. Hart for nearly two years. We both suffer from PTSD, among other mental disabilities, and have been seen by a number of therapists over the years. We have found Dr. Hart’s care to be among the most helpful. He is kind, understanding, and patient. Rather than employing long term, traditional psychotherapy or other limited methods exclusively, he uses different approaches to break through a person’s natural resistance. He suggests interpretations of feelings and actions, asks questions that show real insight, and then gives practical and usually appropriate advice that can be accepted or discussed further. He has treated us with respect and even with a non-intrusive, kind of professional affection. We would recommend him to friends and family without hesitation.”

“I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. David Hart for your elder-care needs. Dr. Hart is an incredibly knowledgeable and caring person who helped our family beyond measure to provide the best level of care for our mother who has Alzheimer's Disease. We engaged Dr. Hart to 1) conduct his own periodic assessments of our mother; 2) create a forum for our broader family, including our mom, to communicate and ask questions; 3) provide training and resources; and 4) help our family evaluate and implement an interim and long-term care plan for our mother. DR. HART EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS ON EVERY LEVEL. Prior to meeting Dr. Hart we had received a lot of conflicting information and our broader family was experiencing a very high level of stress and frustration. Thankfully, after engaging with Dr. Hart for several months, our family became knowledgeable, we communicated well with each other, and we just implemented a long-term care plan that addresses all of our mom's needs and one that she really enjoys. DR. HART IS THE BEST AND HE TRULY CARES ABOUT HIS PATIENTS AND THE FAMILIES HE WORKS WITH. Thank you Dr. Hart for all of you have done for our family. Words cannot express our gratitude.”

“My widowed 80-year-old mother who has Alzheimer's disease has been living alone for 3 years. She has been extremely resistant to having caregivers in her home and my brother and I had all but given up. We have been amazed at the progress we've made since enlisting the help of Dr. David Hart at Always Best Care. In a little over a month, Mom has accepted a caregiver and is considering a move to an assisted living facility. Equally important, the support and assistance we have received in making both large and small decisions has been invaluable and a huge relief. I also highly recommend the Caregiving Essentials class taught by Dr. Hart, which covers everything you need to know in a single 3-1/2 hour "bootcamp" session, including brain science, communication tips, and resources. “Dr. Hart has been of monumental assistance to our family during a very difficult time. We first learned of Dr. David’s practice when mom was first diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). His support groups for families and patients offered comfort and practical advice from others going through the same experience. He provided essential information—facts about dementia and lifestyle changes to slow the process—based on the latest research findings, sparing us the time and frustration of navigating the web and sorting facts from myths. But most important to me has been the emotional support Dr. David has personally provided to my sister and I, and the trusting relationship he established with mom. His professional empathy and experience with human behavior as well as his expertise in the field of geriatrics and cognition combine to provide an array of servicesthat will truly make the difference toward a successful transition for elders and their families. What is Non-Medical Senior Care in Los Angeles, CA?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. So, if you've always wanted to eat at the local Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar or visit Hollyhock House, don't feel bad. Doing so is great for both you and your loved one.

At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

If you have been on the fence about non-medical home care, there has never been a better time than now to give your senior the care, assistance, and companionship they deserve.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Los Angeles, CA, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

 Elderly Care Los Angeles, CA

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your CA's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.

This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

Lifetime Dodgers fan Jorge De La Cruz had his faith in the team tested this summer when the Trump administration began immigration raids across Southern California.

De La Cruz, among others, said he was disappointed the team was not more forceful in condemning the raids, especially given the fact that Latinos are such a big part of its fan base.

But here he was Tuesday night in front of the Greyhound Bar and Grill in Highland Park, an hour before the fourth game of the World Series began to make sure he got a good seat.

“You’re always going to have people cheering for the team and I see why the Dodgers don’t want to say anything because it’s all corporations. But at some point, it’s their civic duty to speak up about what’s going on with people being taken,” he said. He is still smarting about the Dodgers’ response, adding “people are still talking about all of that.”

De La Cruz’s mother arrived in the United States an undocumented immigrant from Mexico decades ago and now has a green card. Despite all of the turmoil, she still cheers for the Dodgers.

“She’s going to root for them no matter what,” he said.

The immigration raids placed the Dodgers in a precarious position that the organization is still trying to navigate. The Trump administration’s actions sparked protests around the city, including outside the gates of the stadium when masked federal officials staged there in a line of vehicles. The Dodgers said they had nothing to do with that operation and announced the team would pledge $1 million “toward direct financial assistance for families of immigrants impacted by recent events in the region.”

Dodgers President and Chief Executive Stan Kasten said at the time: “What’s happening in Los Angeles has reverberated among thousands upon thousands of people, and we have heard the calls for us to take a leading role on behalf of those affected.”

Dodgers’ Kiké Hernández took to Instagram to say, “ALL people deserve to be treated with respect, dignity and human rights. #CityofImmigrants”

“I am saddened and infuriated by what’s happening in our country and our city,” the Puerto Rican native said in June.

But some fans demanded a stronger corporate statement against the raids. And it did not help in June when musician Nezza sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” in Spanish at Dodger Stadium and later said in a TikTok video that it was against the wishes of the team’s front office.

Sergio Perez, executive director of the Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law, believes the Dodgers failed an important test when the city needed the team.

“To see the Dodgers take such a PR conscious approach to it, seeking not to alienate certain folks while sacrificing other communities has been really dispiriting,” Perez said. “I don’t think I’ve seen any statements from them specifically calling out the raids, and they certainly have not come out in solidarity with the undocumented population of Los Angeles and the broader Southern California area.”

Perez loves the team and wants to see them win, but his expectations for the Dodgers’ organization have been lowered. His father, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico, watched the team play in the 1970s when he arrived in Los Angeles and Perez hopes to take his 5-year-old son to a game next season.

“But what should be a moment of pure joy is more complicated. Now it’s hard to look at the Dodgers, including specific members of the team who went out to meet with President Trump after he was reelected this past January,” Perez said.

He hopes that if the Dodgers win and do get invited to go back to the White House, they take the opportunity to speak up about what’s happening.

“[Trump] is empowering Border Patrol and ICE agents who are showing up at our schools, at our hospitals, near our churches, at our courts, and destroying our families on a day-to-day basis,” Perez said. “These are the same families, when you step into any Mexican household in the broader L.A. area, or any kind of immigrant and refugee household, there will be some Dodger swag.”

One bar in Boyle Heights got attention recently for taking its own type of action.

Guillermo Piñon, lifelong Dodgers fan, altered a Dodgers’ mural at his Boyle Heights restaurant, Distrito Catorce.

“The Dodgers were really, really good to me and my family growing up, and I have a lot of awesome memories, but the past is the past,” Piñon told the news outlet Boyle Heights Beat. “I’m going to do the changes that I feel are needed to make sure that our community feels … honored, respected, and celebrated.”

The mural depicts Fernando Valenzuela, Sandy Koufax and announcer Jaime Jarrín, who was the voice of the Spanish-language Dodgers’ broadcast for over 60 years.

Mural artist Sergio Robleto agreed with Piñon and said in an Instagram post they plan to update the work to be a “reflection of the struggle of the community coming to terms with the realities of ICE raids and their disappointment with how the Dodgers have responded; specifically in regards to their leadership and owner Mark Walter. We love our Dodgers but not the nonsense.”

He’s installed a temporary piece at the restaurant that shows a masked ICE agent named Walter wearing an L.A. Dodgers cap detaining Valenzuela. Walter is a majority owner of the Dodgers, as CEO of Guggenheim Partners, and has also partial ownership of the Los Angeles Sparks, Chelsea FC of the English Premier League and multiple auto racing teams.

Robleto doesn’t blame anyone outside of the Dodgers leadership but wants to hear from the players.

“They do have voices, and they could, they could speak up on behalf of like the situation,” he told The Times in an interview. “There’s disappointment with the leadership, because of everything with the ICE raids and immigration and more importantly the traumatic events people are going through. Whether they’re being profiled or being dealt with in a way that doesn’t feel like their rights are even being acknowledged.”

He plans to update the mural later this year, one that will acknowledge the people and communities of Los Angeles.

The Dodgers did not respond to requests for comment.

The team has a long, complicated history with its Latino community, one that started before the team moved to Los Angeles. In the 1960s, the city displaced multiple communities, predominantly made up of Mexican American residents, to make way for the stadium. But the team has become a favorite of the city’s Latino community, a bond cemented with the rise of Valenzuela in the 1980s.

Some have expressed sympathy for team leadership for being thrust into a political maelstrom not of their making. Some local teams such as Los Angeles Football Club and Angel City Football Club have spoken out against raids. But Lakers, Clippers and Rams have not.

Outside the Shortstop Bar in Echo Park, Maria Baldonado feels a similar pang of pride for the team that doesn’t seem to recognize the moment.

“You can’t blame the players, because that’s not their job,” she said as fans inside the bar cheered while up the street the team played at Chavez Ravine. “It hurts that so many fans show up sporting flags from all these Latin American countries. They see us.”

Banc of California will raise its profile in downtown Los Angeles by putting its name on top of a skyscraper and nearly doubling the size of its offices.

The Los Angeles bank’s expansion comes at a time when downtown office landlords have been struggling with high vacancies since the pandemic prompted a shift to remote work for many businesses.

Banc of California has leased 40,000 square feet at 865 S. Figueroa St. and secured the rights to emblazon its name atop the 35-story tower just north of L.A. Live, the bank recently announced.

“We moved our headquarters to Los Angeles two years ago because we believe in this city and in the power of the entrepreneurs and businesses that call it home,” Chief Executive Jared Wolff said.

The bank used to be based in Santa Ana and is now headquartered in Brentwood.

Its downtown offices are currently nearby in the Figueroa at Wilshire building, where the bank rents nearly 23,000 square feet, according to real estate data provider CoStar.

The bank plans to move to its new offices downtown by the end of summer. The financial terms of its 11-year lease there were not disclosed.

Banc of California’s growth in downtown Los Angeles follows recent expansions in Beverly Hills and New York City.

In June, the bank moved its corporate office in New York to a prominent location on Park Avenue. In March, it expanded its corporate office in Beverly Hills with signage atop a 12-story building at 9701 Wilshire Blvd. on the corner of Roxbury Drive.

The bank also has its name on a building next to the 405 Freeway on Olympic Boulevard.

Prominent signs on its office buildings are important to the bank, a representative said, in part because the downtown tower will be visible during the 2028 Olympics and perhaps be part of skyline backdrops during coverage of the event.

About a third of the office space in downtown’s financial district is vacant, according to real estate brokerage CBRE, about the same as it was a year ago.

Many institutional investors, such as pension funds and insurance companies, have often been reluctant in recent years to make big bets on L.A. because the rapidly changing rules make it impossible to predict profits.

Among investors’ concerns are public policies such as the United to House Los Angeles (Measure ULA) transfer tax on large real estate sales, and also temporary limits on evicting tenants that were enacted during the pandemic.

Banc of California is now the largest independent bank headquartered in Los Angeles and the third largest bank headquartered in California, it said.

“Expanding our presence in downtown demonstrates how committed we are to serving the greater L.A, market,” Wolff said.

The bank announced its results for the three months through September on Wednesday. It said its revenue climbed 5% to $288 million. It flipped to a net profit during the third quarter compared to a net loss a year earlier.

“Given our attractive footprint and strong position in key markets, we believe we are uniquely positioned to continue this momentum,” Wolff said in a prepared statement with the earnings announcement.”Looking ahead, we see a good pipeline for the fourth quarter and remain confident that our disciplined approach positions us well to drive profitable, long-term growth.”

A plane forced to make an emergency landing at a local park in Long Beach left the pilot and another person injured Tuesday after it struck a woman as it touched down.

Firefighters responded to a plane crash near Carson Street just east of Woodruff Avenue near Heartwell Park, around 4 p.m, according to a Long Beach Fire Department social media post.

Firefighters arrived to find the small aircraft on its belly with broken landing gear, according to officials.

The pilot, an elderly man, was pulled out of the cockpit and hospitalized, according to authorities. A woman in her 40s, who was struck by the aircraft in the park, was also hospitalized. Both had moderate injuries but were in stable condition.

The plane was flying out of Compton and headed to French Valley and was returning to Compton when the crash occurred, according to the social media post. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson said during Tuesday’s City Council meeting that the incident could’ve been “a whole lot worse.”

“And we are fortunate in that there have been no fatalities, no serious injuries. It was a glider [that] did an emergency landing, pretty rough landing on the field at Heartwell Park,” he added.

KTLA5 reported the pilot may have been trying to make it to the Long Beach Airport, which is about a mile and a half northeast of the plane crash.

According to Long Beach Post, the plane took off around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday and a half an hour later, landed at French Valley Airport in Murrieta.

The plane then took off from the Murreita airport around 3:40 p.m. and then headed toward the Long Beach Airport before crashing around 4 p.m.

Rui Hachimura Finds Perfect Excuse For Lakers’ Loss Against Warriors

The Los Angeles Lakers start the 2025-26 season on a low note after suffering a crushing 119-109 loss against the Golden State Warriors. While the team’s performance itself was concerning, garnering heated reactions from fans, Lakers forward Rui Hachimura appeared to be undeterred by the result.

When asked to address the team’s struggles against the Warriors during his post-game availability, Rui Hachimura responded, “You guys know this. We just started. This is probably our second game we actually played together, like everybody. We’re still trying to figure out the rhythm.”

“We had a lot of practices, but also in the game, somebody was out, somebody was in,” he continued. “Especially against Golden State, they’ve been playing together for four or five years, probably. I think that was the difference. Other than that, I think we did a lot of things that we were supposed to and, yeah, it’s a process. We’re going to be better.”

Rui Hachimura reiterated what many Lakers players felt during the course of the game. After making some solid signings in the summer, the Purple and Gold simply haven’t had enough time to gel as a unit.

Deandre Ayton, who is expected to be a key rotation player, has struggled to get his feet set in pick-and-roll sets with Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves. Given how valuable his presence will be on the court moving forward, the Purple and Gold will hope that he can build chemistry with the main unit and become more effective.

Rui Hachimura’s statement could paint a promising picture for the team’s performance once they settle into a groove. But it may be viewed as an excuse to some extent, too.

Given the limited time the Lakers had to become familiar with each other, seeing key players sit out training camp and games during the preseason didn’t help their approach. Hence, Los Angeles will need to make the appropriate adjustments if they are to follow through on their intentions of competing for a title.

Rui Hachimura Addresses The Lakers’ Third-Quarter Woes

The Los Angeles Lakers saw a relatively strong start in the first half, helping them stay within striking distance of the Warriors with a one-point deficit. Unfortunately, much like the preseason, the Lakers’ poor form in the second half, specifically the third quarter, continues to plague the team.

Being outscored 35-25 in a quarter is a clear indication of poor performance, and Rui Hachimura addressed this while speaking with the media.

“It’s been like this since I got here, too. It’s something that we’ve been having a problem with, the third quarter,” Hachimura stated. “I think it’s a mind thing. We’ve got to lock in as a team, and we’ve got to be ready to play basketball from the start of the third quarter.”

“I think as a team, we have to lock in. We have to meet other players, talk before the game, before the third quarter or something, so we can figure it out.”

The Lakers’ offense completely deteriorated in the third quarter. Barring Luka Doncic, none of the Lakers players could find the bottom of the net as their shooting crumbled. With poor defensive effort to go with mistakes while handling the ball, the Purple and Gold saw the game slip away.

On this note, Rui Hachimura was among the many underperforming players on the night. With nine points, four rebounds, and three assists on 3-for-6 shooting overall, the forward appeared tentative. In many ways, he was virtually a non-factor.

A loss like this may not bode well for the Lakers. With their continued struggles in the third quarter, Los Angeles may be forming some bad habits that could be detrimental to their title aspirations.

Thus, Lakers head coach JJ Redick will hope to address this as soon as possible. With their next game slated to be against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, Oct. 24, the Lakers will hope to turn things around and get back some momentum.
