In October of 2025, extended weekend lane reductions are expected to be scheduled the weekends of Oct. 3, Oct. 10, Oct. 17, Oct. 24, and Oct. 31. After that, extended weekend lane reductions are expected to be scheduled every other weekend, except for holidays, through 2026.
The extended weekend lane reductions are from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Demolition of old freeway lane concrete occurs on Friday nights. This weekend on Friday night, Sept. 19 the demolition will occur near Telegraph Road. Residents and businesses located in this area may experience noise, vibrations and dust associated with demolition activities.
All closures are subject to change. Ramp traffic will be detoured via local arterial routes during the hours of the ramp closures. See detour map. Caltrans urges motorists to avoid the area during construction and use alternate freeways where possible, including northbound Interstate 110, Interstate 710 and State Route 57.
This work is part of the Super 605 freeway corridor projects to rehabilitate I-605 from Long Beach to the San Gabriel Valley. A total of $260 million in construction costs is funded with $238 million from the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), and more than $20.5 million from Senate Bill (SB) 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
