Home Care In Spring, TX

Home Care Spring, TX

They say that your golden years are the best years of your life. For most older Americans, that's how it should be - a time to relax, reflect, and live life in a familiar place. After all, senior citizens in the U.S. have worked tirelessly to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise families.

However, as seniors grow older, completing daily tasks like showering and enjoying activities such as visiting the historic Texas historic Landmark gets harder without someone by their side. Unfortunately, many older Americans aren't able to rely on their adult children for help. The reality in today's world is that family members do not have the skills or time to dedicate to caring for their parents. That's where Always Best Care Senior Services comes in.

Our in-home care services are for people who prefer to stay at home as they grow older but need ongoing care that family or friends cannot provide. More and more older adults prefer to live far away from long-term, institutionalized facilities and closer to the place where they feel most comfortable - their home. “Dear Kelly, I wanted to write to you and say how much my father and I have appreciated the great care and service that your agency has provided my mother over the last year. My mother became one of your clients in November 2022 and was helped every day by your caring team. Initially, K. visited with me and helped me understand the various services you provide. She was so helpful and considerate and seemed to understand how overwhelming taking care of an elder can be. We signed-on for 3 times a week shower and grooming care for B.. This soon turned into shower/grooming every day of the week. V. was the caregiver for many months and mother loved her so much!! After V. moved to the office duties, M. became her daily care-giver and mother really enjoyed seeing and visiting with her every day. M. did extra things like making sure she was lotioned well every day and blow drying her hair! Mother considered her a true friend ! Once Mom needed someone to start sitting with her at night, we were even more grateful for sweet employees that sat patiently and lovingly with her such as L., M., and S.. I know there are others that substituted for the regulars that were kind and considerate as well, and of course M. has always been gracious and prompt with any needs or requests for which we asked. We are sad that B. has declined so much that we needed to find a place for her away from home, but we are grateful for this last year and the sincere, caring people that helped us keep her at home. We would absolutely recommend Always Best Care Senior Services and please feel free to use us as a reference ! Thank you again!”

“Always Best Care was able to provide us with emergency help less than 24 hours after we called and we are eternally grateful for their ability to move fast. We needed help with my 90 year old father-in-law who was in home hospice and my 89 year old mother-in-law with onset dementia. All of the caregivers that they sent were wonderful, caring, honest and hardworking individuals. They helped us taking care of my in-law's personal needs, house cleaning, laundry and providing the family with guidance on what we could expect with a patient on hospice. More than anything, their experience and assistance gave us, the family members, a sense of calmness knowing we could take care of our family members in their own home as they wished. After going through the death of someone in home hospice, we found out that there really is a lot more to this type of care than just providing for a patience's basic needs. We are forever grateful to this company for all of their assistance and guidance as we proceeded through this experience.”

What is Non-Medical Senior Care in Spring, TX?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. So, if you've always wanted to eat at the local Plane & Level or visit The Historic Spring Site, don't feel bad. Doing so is great for both you and your loved one.

At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

If you have been on the fence about non-medical home care, there has never been a better time than now to give your senior the care, assistance, and companionship they deserve.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Spring, TX, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

 Elderly Care Spring, TX

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your TX's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.
 Senior Care Spring, TX

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Spring, TX understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

Respite Care Spring, TX

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Caregivers who work at assisted living communities can also provide medication administration and personal care services for older adults.

Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation
  • Personal Care
 Caregivers Spring, TX

At Always Best Care, our representatives can match your senior's emotional, physical, and financial needs with viable assisted living communities nearby. Results are based on comparative data, so you can select the best choice for you or your loved one.

Always Best Care works closely with local senior living communities to gain valuable knowledge that we then use to help seniors and their loved ones make informed decisions. This information can include basic care and rent, resident availability, and services provided. Because Always Best Care is compensated by these communities, we provide senior living referral services at no extra cost to you.

Some of the most popular assisted living communities to consider in our area include the following:

  • Countryside Senior Living and Memory Care of Spring
  • Wood Glen Court
  • BeeHive Homes of Spring
  • HomeSteady Assisted Living
  • Novellus Cypresswood
  • The Raven Creek
Home Care Spring, TX

For many seniors, moving into a senior living community revolves around how and when they want to make a transition to more involved care. Some seniors are more proactive about transitioning to independent living. Others choose to remain home until their care needs or other requirements are satisfied. Remember - our staff is here to help. Contact our office today to learn more about assisted living communities and how we can find a facility that exceeds your expectations.

What is the best internet provider in Spring?

Based on its symmetrical speeds and lightening-fast connectivity, AT&T Fiber is the best internet service provider for most households in Spring, Texas. AT&T Fiber also offers reasonable prices with no set increases, meaning your bill won't jump up after the introductory period. That being said, AT&T Fiber's network doesn't cover all of Spring, so we recommend checking out Xfinity or T-Mobile Home Internet if your address isn't serviceable.

AT&T Fiber will be your best bet for residential internet if you're wanting the speediest bandwidth possible. Costing $225 per month, AT&T Fiber offers symmetrical upload and download speeds up to 5 gigabits per second. If you're searching for the most affordable service in Spring, Xfinity Connect costs only $20 per month for 75 megabits per second.

Our methodology

CNET considers speeds, pricing, customer service and overall value to recommend the best internet service in Spring across several categories. Our evaluation includes referencing a proprietary database built over years of reviewing internet services. We validate that against provider information by spot-checking local addresses for service availability. We also do a close read of providers' terms and conditions and, when needed, will call ISPs to verify the details.

Despite our efforts to find the most recent and accurate information, our process has some limitations you should know about. Pricing and speed data are variable: certain addresses may qualify for different service tiers, and monthly costs may vary, even within a city. The best way to identify your particular options is to plug your address into a provider's website.

Also, the prices, speed and other information listed above and in the provider cards below may differ from what we found in our research. The cards display the full range of a provider's pricing and speed across the US, according to our database of plan information provided directly by ISPs. At the same time, the text is specific to what’s available in Spring. The prices referenced within this article's text come from our research and include applicable discounts for setting up automatic payments each month -- a standard industry offering. Other discounts and promotions might also be available for things like signing a term contract or bundling with multiple services.

If you're looking for an internet plan that can accommodate videoconferencing, streaming video or gaming, you'll have a better experience with a more robust connection. Here's an overview of the recommended minimum download speeds for various applications, according to the FCC. Note that these are only guidelines -- and that internet speed, service and performance vary by connection type, provider and address.

For more information, refer to our guide on how much internet speed you really need.

How CNET chose the best internet providers in Spring

Internet service providers are numerous and regional. Unlike the latest smartphone, laptop, router or kitchen tool, it’s impractical to personally test every ISP in a given city. So what’s our approach? We start by researching the pricing, availability and speed information, drawing on our own historical ISP data, the provider sites and mapping information from the Federal Communications Commission at FCC.gov.

But it doesn’t end there. We go to the FCC’s website to check our data and ensure we consider every ISP that provides service in an area. We also input local addresses on provider websites to find specific options for residents. We look at sources, including the American Customer Satisfaction Index and J.D. Power, to evaluate how happy customers are with an ISP’s service. ISP plans and prices are subject to frequent changes; all information provided is accurate as of publication.

Once we have this localized information, we ask three main questions:

While the answers to those questions are often layered and complex, the providers that come closest to “yes” on all three are the ones we recommend. When selecting the cheapest internet service, we look for the plans with the lowest monthly fee, though we also factor in things like price increases, equipment fees and contracts. Choosing the fastest internet service is relatively straightforward. We look at advertised upload and download speeds and also consider real-world speed data from sources like Ookla and FCC reports.

A building off the Grand Parkway in Spring has gone viral on social media, and some Houstonians are calling it a “Lego House” as commuters pondered the flashy new development while passing it on the freeway each day.

The brightly colored structure isn’t going to be a new Tex-Mex restaurant, and it won’t be a new home for the Partridge family, as some social media users speculated. The building, constructed about a year ago by local business owner Daniel Lozano, was built for both business and family get-togethers.

The structure was originally going to be a bar or Tex-Mex restaurant. Now, it's a workshop for Lozano's growing restaurant empire. Lozano owns Tex-Mex restaurant and sports bar El Refu, which has two sprawling locations in Humble and Tomball and two more set to open in the next six months.

"We use it for a family hangout," Lozano said. "The main thing we do is use it to build furniture, but sometimes we'll have a carne asada for my employees."

El Refu makes all of its furniture in-house. Wooden chairs and construction supplies could be seen spilling out of the open air structure Friday, as employees painted and applied finishing touches to tables and chairs. Dozens of tables made from barrels and intricate tiles filled the building's interior.

Employee Francisco Cabrera said they painted the structure in vibrant blocks of color simply because “it’s different.” A grand entrance and two fountains — one imported from Mexico and one built by Cabrera himself — flank the side of the property along Mossy Oak Road. Colorful canastas, or Mexican wicker baskets, hang from trees.

The eye-catching design has grabbed the attention of hundreds of Facebook users in the Ask Tomball group. Lozano is well aware of the buzz around his building.

"Ask Tomball went crazy for it," Lozano said. "It's beautiful. The picture that they took, it just looks like crazy colors, but when you're in there it looks a bit different. It's just halfway done, so we'll get it there."

It also draws curious visitors. "We get people coming in a lot,” Cabrera said.

Lozano is a former staff member of Mi Rancho, but rumors circulating that the building is associated with the popular Tex-Mex restaurant are not true.

Lozano said the space will be used to host private parties and carne asadas for family, friends and El Refu employees when it's not used to manufacture restaurant supplies. It will not be available to rent as an event space, he said.

Like the "Lego House," El Refu's spaces are lively and bright, though they're more subdued than the Grand Parkway property. Each location offers an assortment of tacos and other Tex-Mex favorites, specialty cocktails and shots, and there's plenty of space and screens to catch the big game.

Lozano plans to open a new El Refu in Port Arthur in two months and will open another location close to one of the current restaurants at 17381 Tomball Parkway in around six months. Lozano also plans to open a location in Houston.

Passersby can expect the brightly colored building to stick around as-is for a while, aside from one small change. With the new influx of attention, Lozano may use the property to advertise El Refu.

Two Houston-area chefs are looking to bring convenience and affordability to The Woodlands with unique new concepts planned at a Sawdust Road shopping center.

Chef Jesse Cavazos is teaming up with local personal trainer Nezi Whiteman and co-owner Jason Viada to create healthy, restaurant-style grab-and-go meals that bridge the gap between fast food and restaurant prices.

A current chef at Landry's who has won The Woodlands' Wine and Food Week Chef Showcase twice, Cavazos has crafted a menu of more than 20 meal-prep style meals that don't skimp out on quality or quantity, Viada said.

Unlike traditional "meal prep" foods, the Eat This menu offers comfort food with health-conscious twists.

"We're taking these comfort food dishes and making them so people can eat them every day...but it's still going to give them that restaurant-style flavor," Viada said. "We can give them better quality food, quality ingredients and larger portions for a price that's below restaurant price."

Both Whiteman and Viada previously cooked meals for their clients, including a professional chef who needed to lose weight ahead of a cooking competition. When they left their space, clients suggested that they open up a full business.

"We had a small kitchen...and made meals to deliver to my clients," Whiteman said. "But other members of the gym started asking for food, and that's how it all started.

Many items swap half of their starchy sides for healthier substitutes like quinoa or cauliflower rice. The kitchen uses lean, grassfed meats, low-fat cheese, avocado oil instead of butter, and rarely fries foods aside from an occasional air-fried meal. Menu items range from meatloaf and lasagna to teriyaki chicken and coconut shrimp, an all-day omelet and several wraps, salads and tacos.

Whiteman knows her former clients and other gym aficionados will come to the store. But she thinks the food's restaurant-style quality, convenience and affordability — prices will range from $11 to $15 — will bring in just about anyone.

We're trying to get the general public, the business professionals, the busy moms," Viada said. "We're trying to target the other 90% of the community that needs healthy food items, but a lot of times more importantly than healthy food, they need convenience."

Because to-go meals often lose their moisture when they're reheated, each meal is taken off heat just before it's finished and chilled immediately. That way, it'll taste perfectly done once reheated in its reheatable and compostable packaging, Whiteman said.

In addition to its food menu, Eat This will also have teas, juices from local business Zozo Fresh and cookies from The Bakehouse — one of the only not-so-healthy items on the menu. All meals will be $9.11 for first responders, and meals from the day before will be frozen and available for 10 percent off.

Steps away, the former Herb and Beet location is transforming into a pirate ship. Pirate's Paradise, the brainchild of local restauranteur Malcolm Closk and chef J.C. Torres, will be a family-friendly location that brings affordable seafood, steaks and family-friendly foods to The Woodlands.

Torres is the chef behind the former burger joint Uncle Charlie’s Kitchen on Rankin Road. Menu items will range from an oyster bar and ribeyes to jerk chicken, ham shanks, breakfast tacos, bacon-wrapped hot dogs and vegetarian and children's items.

While The Woodlands boasts a thriving restaurant scene, Closk said many high-quality foods tend to be out of reach. With an interior resembling a pirate ship and a tropical "palapas" structure planned for the restaurant's exterior, Closk hopes to bring a unique experience to customers across income levels.

"I'm bringing the tropics to The Woodlands," Closk said. "This is for single mothers who may be struggling to feel free to come and eat and enjoy the environment...everything is about family. I want to captivate the kids and want you to come back again and again."

Both restaurants hope to open this year, with the Pirate's Paradise grand opening tentatively set for Oct. 31 at 448 Sawdust Road. Eat This will open at 442 Sawdust Road in the next few months, Whiteman said.

Harris County Precinct 3 crews are working to clear roads of fallen trees and branches in the Spring area after Wednesday's intense storm.

SPRING, Texas (KTRK) -- The soundtrack to Spring on Thursday was generators, chainsaws, and leaf blowers.

"It's a lot of teamwork," Martin Guy, with Harris County Precinct 3's clean-up crews, told ABC13.

Guy said he started getting calls around 10 p.m. Wednesday, letting him know he had a long day ahead of him, with reports from around 120 people of trees blocking roads in the area alone.

"That's more than a big day. That's a lot of man work and a lot of machine work," Guy said.

His crew is one of 15 that have worked in shifts through the night and into Thursday evening across the precinct. They are buckling down for a couple of hot days ahead.

"They're on the houses. Cars can't pass the road, they're everywhere!" Guy said.

A few streets down, Frank Lodzinski said he and his neighbors lucked out with no trees falling into homes.

"This happens from time to time," Lodzinski said.

Lodzinski is no stranger to storms after 40 years in Spring, but even he said Wednesday night's storm was intense.

"It whipped through here pretty hard, and I was sitting in the family room, and boy, you could see things swinging all over the place, and then boy, the rain hit," Lodzinski said.

If a tree is blocking a road, you can contact the Pct. 3 service request line at 713-274-3100.

The precinct will focus on clearing roads Thursday and will be back out Friday to clear away the piles of branches.
