Home Care In Villa Park, IL

Home Care Villa Park, IL

They say that your golden years are the best years of your life. For most older Americans, that's how it should be - a time to relax, reflect, and live life in a familiar place. After all, senior citizens in the U.S. have worked tirelessly to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise families.

However, as seniors grow older, completing daily tasks like showering and enjoying activities such as visiting Villa Park Historical Society in Villa Park, IL gets harder without someone by their side. Unfortunately, many older Americans aren't able to rely on their adult children for help. The reality in today's world is that family members do not have the skills or time to dedicate to caring for their parents. That's where Always Best Care Senior Services comes in.

Our in-home care services are for people who prefer to stay at home as they grow older but need ongoing care that family or friends cannot provide. More and more older adults prefer to live far away from long-term, institutionalized facilities and closer to the place where they feel most comfortable - their home. Home care in Villa Park, IL is a safe, effective way to give your loved ones the care they need when they need it the most.

The Always Best Care Difference

Since 1996, Always Best Care has provided non-medical in-home care for seniors to help them maintain a healthy lifestyle as they get older. We are proud to have helped more than 25,000 seniors maintain higher levels of dignity and respect. We focus on providing seniors with the highest level of in-home care available so that they may live happily and independently.

Unlike some senior care companies, we genuinely want to be included in our clients' lives. We believe that personalized care is always the better option over a "one size fits all" approach. To make sure our senior clients receive the best care possible, we pair them with compassionate caregivers who understand their unique needs. That way, they may provide care accordingly without compromising their wellbeing.

The Always Best Care difference lies in life's little moments - where compassionate care and trustworthy experience come together to help seniors live a fruitful, healthy life. Whether you are an aging adult that can't quite keep up with life's daily tasks or the child of a senior who needs regular in-home services, Always Best Care is here to help.

“I again want to compliment Shannon on her fine work as my uncle's caregiver. She truly came from above. Today is his 92nd Birthday and I can't be there, but she has made the day special for him with cake and small gifts. She also keeps close tabs on his failing health and coordinates his care excellently. She goes above and beyond what would be expected. I don't know Rihanna as well, but she, too, sounds like she cares for my uncle in a kind and positive way. My uncle can be demanding and cranky and they both do a good job maintaining an upbeat attitude. Last but not least, I appreciate Ana for juggling so many clients and caregivers, which in our own situation seem to change on a dime, yet she always comes through. Thanks again”

“I recently worked with Michelle Kramer at Always Best Care. I would recommend Michelle to anyone who is navigating Senior care for their loved one. Michelle is so knowledgeable as she has been in the industry for so long. She helped me to find places to move my dad, she knew all the answers to the hard questions that I had. Michelle was just amazing and I literally could not have moved my dad recently without her help. I also used their care facilities in July when I moved my dad to his first memory care facility to help him transition. Their caregivers were great and they were so flexible with the times that I needed someone with my dad.”

What is Non-Medical Senior Care in Villa Park, IL?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. So, if you've always wanted to eat at the local Devon Seafood Steak or visit Lombard Historical Society Sheldon Peck Homestead, don't feel bad. Doing so is great for both you and your loved one.

At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

If you have been on the fence about non-medical home care, there has never been a better time than now to give your senior the care, assistance, and companionship they deserve.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Villa Park, IL, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

 Elderly Care Villa Park, IL

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your IL's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.
 Senior Care Villa Park, IL

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Villa Park, IL understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

 Respite Care Villa Park, IL

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Caregivers who work at assisted living communities can also provide medication administration and personal care services for older adults.

Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation

She called her subordinate a "vulture" who had affairs with co-workers. The official had expected a long career with the village.

VILLA PARK, IL – A top Villa Park official left her job Friday, a couple of weeks after her comments denouncing a subordinate's love life went public.

Suzy Mika, the village's finance director, served in the role for nearly a year and a half. Before that, she worked in the same job in La Grange.

Mika's controversial comments were made during a secret audio recording taken by Trustee Khalid Sabri last December.

DuPage County prosecutors decided against charging Sabri for recording someone without that person's consent. Such a recording is against state law, but prosecutors cited an exception.

In August, Village President Kevin Patrick released the recording during an open session of the Village Board. Patch was the first news outlet to report on the comments two weeks ago.

In her conversation with Sabri, Mika bashed her subordinate, accusing her of being a "gold digger" and having affairs with co-workers.

Mika complained that the woman should have been fired long ago. But Mika said she was stopped from doing so.

She said the woman was driving a $120,000 BMW.

"She is a secretary at best. She is a vulture," Mika said. "I see red every time I see her."

In the conversation, Mika said her boss, Village Manager Michael Rivas, had been good to her, but was "wishy-washy" and "not strong" on some things.

At the time, Mika, who said she was 50, had expected a long career with Villa Park.

"I have at least 15 years," she told Sabri. "I don't plan on going anywhere. I want to retire here. I want my legacy to finish here."

Patch left messages for comment with Rivas and Patrick.

Mika couldn't be reached for comment.

Patch has filed a public records request for more details on Mika's exit.

With flag football playoffs in full swing in Illinois, Colorado and Kansas, it's been a wild week.

From eye-popping numbers to game-changing plays in critical postseason games, players across the country turned in outstanding performances this week.

Here are the nine flag football performances that caught our eye this week from Super 25 teams across the country:

Ayasha Beavers, No. 17 Merced

Ayasha Beavers was a defensive weapon in Merced's 30-0 win over Los Banos last week. The sophomore had 12 flag pulls, two sacks and two interceptions to help fuel the shutout victory.

KyNia Hunt, No. 13 Evanston

KyNia Hunt had a big-time performance when it mattered most for Evanston. Hunt grabbed two interceptions and six flag pulls while also hauling in a receiving touchdown in the Wildkits 20-6 win over Taft to continue their playoff run.

Lacie Nemchick, No. 8 Highland

Lacie Nemchick is becoming a reoccurring name on this list, but her performance against Mesa might be her best one yet. The junior threw for 454 yards and a whopping eight touchdowns in the Hawks' 63-0 shutout victory.

Quinn Pope, No. 20 Wakefield

Quinn Pope had a big performance to lead Wakefield to a 50-0 win over Enloe on Monday. She was near-perfect, completing 16-of-17 passes for 209 yards and six touchdowns.

Serenity Rutledge, No. 7 Moody

Serenity Rutledge is another frequent name on this list, but for a good reason. Last week, she might have had the most well-rounded performance of the season, completing 15-of-16 passes for 334 yards and four touchdowns while also adding 61 yards and a touchdown on the ground, a receiving touchdown, five flag pulls and an interception.

VILLA PARK, IL. − Like many other girls in Illinois, Kaelie Tomalak was not keen on the idea of playing flag football as a freshman.

At the time, the sport was not sanctioned by the Illinois High School Association (IHSA), meaning it was just a club sport. Plus, Tomalak wanted to focus on her first love: basketball.

Flash forward three years later, Tomalak led St. Charles North (IL) to a state championship with a 32-13 win over Prospect in the IHSA state title game on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Willowbrook High School.

"It's the dream to win the state title," Tomalak said following the win. "Especially in my senior year after having an early loss in the playoffs. It was something I was really driven toward. It's incredible to see it actually happen."

Father convinces Kaelie Tomalak to give flag football a try

While she was a freshman, Tomalak's father, Brian, had to convince his daughter to give flag football a try.

"I had to talk her into it many years ago because she was a basketball player coming into high school," Brian Tomalak said. "I told her, 'Just try to play.' ... She went out and fell in love with it."

Because flag football was only a club sport — in a pilot league sponsored and administered by the Chicago Bears — Kaelie Tomalak relented to her dad's wishes of trying the sport.

"I was really into basketball and I didn't want (flag football) to be something that took away from it," Kaelie said. "But it's literally the best thing I've ever chosen. Flag football is my only sport now and I have no regrets. I'm so glad he pushed me into it."

Kaelie not only stars at quarterback for the North Stars, but she also plays safety. In the state championship game, she completed 15 of 20 passes for 176 yards and a touchdown, while adding four rushes for 63 yards.

The lone touchdown for Tomalak came after she recorded an interception in the first quarter, which allowed the North Stars to push their lead to 14-6 at the time.

According to St. Charles North coach Mike Taormina, the starting quarterback led the team with 14 interceptions on defense.

Tomalak's strong season of throwing for 4,292 yards and 60 touchdowns, while adding 1,460 rushing yards and 14 scores, comes after she split time as the quarterback last season. However, coming into her senior year, she knew she would be the full-time QB.

"This is a girl that spent hours in the offseason working on her skills to be a better quarterback," Taormina said. "She went to quarterback training. She played in a spring league. She's put in the work behind the scenes when nobody was looking, and that clearly shows."

Flag football forms strong father-daughter bond

It makes sense that Brian Tomalak would push a little for football. Kaelie is a triplet — with her brother Brody playing football for St. Charles North.

Brian Tomalak, himself, is a former collegiate quarterback for the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh and is an assistant coach on the football team.

When Kaelie joined the flag football team, so did her dad as an assistant. The sport has created a strong bond between the father and daughter, including long film sessions.

"Whether we're talking about football or throwing the football around in the driveway, it's just definitely an amazing thing," Kaelie said. "I am so thankful for it."

Like his daughter, Brian Tomalak was also a left-handed quarterback. But the similarities don't end there, according to teammates.

"She's really learning a lot from him and I think he has taught us a lot as a team," St. Charles North receiver Addi Shook said. "The two of them, you can definitely see the similarities. They are amazing together."

Just as is the case with any other coach-player or father-daughter combo, just because they work well together does not mean it's always peaceful behind the scenes.

Maybe they are too similar?

"I mean, they definitely do butt heads sometimes, but that's just because they are the same person," St. Charles North running back Alexzandria Richardson said.

Flag football creates a house divided

Brian Tomalak attended Green Bay Notre Dame Academy in Green Bay, Wisconsin, for high school. So, being from Green Bay, it makes sense that he's a fan of the Green Bay Packers.

However, due to the Chicago Bears' involvement in launching flag football in Illinois, playing flag football has divided the house when it comes to allegiance for professional football fandom.

"The catch there is, I'm from Green Bay, so I'm a Packers fan," Brian Tomalak said. "And the Bears sponsor all of this. So, she's like, 'Dad, I kind of like the Bears now.' So she hangs that over my head."

Now, with her prep flag football career now over and no basketball on the horizon, Kaelie Tomalak is now hoping to follow in her father's footsteps in the sport again.

"I want to play in college," Tomalak said. "I want to see what my options are. It has to line up with what I want to (major in)."

Hononegah heads to Villa Park on Friday night with a chance to punch its ticket to the IHSA Girls Flag Football State Semifinals, but the opponent waiting on the other sideline is one the biggest tests in Illinois: the undefeated Prospect Knights.

The energy around this matchup has been building. A Social Media post shared by Hononegah families — celebrating the team’s sectional title and urging the community to “pack Willowbrook” — has been circulating widely. It’s the kind of community support that has followed this group all season: proud, loud, and ready for one more Friday night for the Lady Indians.

This quarterfinal is everything you want: a surging Hononegah squad that refuses to back down, and a Prospect team that has steamrolled nearly everyone in its path.

PROSPECT: UNDEFEATED AND UNDENIABLE

Last season, Prospect finished 13–11. Respectable, but not headline-grabbing.

This year? They’ve become the story.

Under head coach Kyle Pfister, the Knights have ripped off a 19–0 record, dominating opponents with a high?octane offense and a defense that thrives on disruption.

The centerpiece is freshman quarterback Madelyn Searle, who has put up video?game numbers (according to Maxpreps):

Searle is a dual?threat who forces defenses to defend every blade of turf.

Prospect’s defense is equally loaded.

This is a complete team. Fast. Disciplined. Confident. And undefeated.

HONONEGAH: TOUGH, BALANCED, AND BUILT FOR MOMENTS LIKE THIS

Hononegah arrives with a different kind of résumé — not perfect, but hardened. The Indians have won 13 straight, including a gritty 13–7 sectional championship over Crystal Lake Central.

Head coach Jason Brunke summed up the journey simply:

“Been an incredible run.”

Hononegah’s strength is balance. They don’t rely on one star — they rely on a system that forces opponents to defend everything.

Layla Demke A calm, physical dual?threat who has 26 total touchdowns and nearly 60 rushing yards per game. She extends drives, controls tempo, and thrives under pressure.

Claire VanSchelven One of the top freshman receivers and defensive backs in Illinois. VanSchelven averages 46.7 receiving yards per game and has become Demke’s most trusted target in big moments.

Taitum Cates The most disruptive defender in the state:

Cates changes games by herself. If Hononegah pulls the upset, she’ll be at the center of it.

Hononegah’s defense has allowed just 14 total points in the postseason. They don’t break. They don’t panic. They make you earn every yard.

MATCHUP

No one has done it yet. Hononegah’s pass rush — especially Cates — must force Prospect into long fields and uncomfortable downs.

The Knights haven’t faced many teams as tough at the line of scrimmage as Hononegah. Demke’s ability to extend drives will be crucial.

Searle vs. VanSchelven is a showcase of the sport’s future in Illinois.

COMMUNITY

The Facebook post circulating this week — celebrating Hononegah’s sectional title and urging fans to make the trip — reflects exactly what this team has built: a community that shows up.

It’s the same energy that filled the stands during the sectional win. The same energy that followed the team through a 13?game winning streak. And the same energy Hononegah hopes to bring to Villa Park on Friday night.

WHAT’S AT STAKE

The winner advances to Saturday’s I at 12p

For Prospect, it’s a chance to complete a perfect season. For Hononegah, it’s a chance to prove that toughness beats flash — and that the Indians belong among the state’s elite.

This quarterfinal has everything: an undefeated titan, a surging challenger, star freshmen, and two programs built the right way. Prospect brings the fireworks. Hononegah brings the grit.

Villa Park is getting a show Friday night at 6pm

Ever since The Classical Academy (CO) launched its flag football program, Reagan Harter has been a key factor behind the Titans' success.

But this season, the Harter name has become twice as dangerous.

Kennedy Harter, Reagan's younger sister, joined the team as a freshman this fall. And together, the sisters have become one of the driving forces behind No. 14 The Classical Academy's undefeated season and their top 15 ranking

"I've loved Reagan and the last two years we've really built our connection," head coach Carly Callahan said. "Then I heard Kennedy was coming up this year and my immediate thought was, 'Oh, look out. These two are going to be dangerous.'"

Top photos of Willowbrook (IL) flag football vs Christ the King

Dangerous is an understatement.

Between the Harter sisters, there is a leader in nearly every major statistical category. The two have combined for 42 of the Titans' 72 touchdowns and 1,816 total yards of offense, helping The Classical Academy finish the regular season 15-0 and earn the No. 1 seed in the Class 4A playoffs.

"I just know that if they're out there, things are going to be taken care of," Callahan said.

For Kennedy, the path to flag football started with Reagan. Watching her older sister sparked an interest in the sport, and soon, she joined a team of her own.

"We would just go out in the street and throw the ball," Kennedy said. "(Reagan) would come to my games and help me out and that's when I started really enjoying playing."

Now, those backyard sessions have translated to the field, where the sisters are helping lead the Titans to their best season since becoming a team.

The Titans will face Elizabeth in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs on Saturday, Oct. 17, looking to build on its success. The Classical Academy defeated Elizabeth 33-12 in their previous meeting this season.

Playing on the same team is nothing new for the Harters. Growing up in an athletic family, they played soccer and basketball together and also ran track. While Reagan continues to prioritize soccer, Kennedy has focused on basketball.

Flag football, however, is the sport that both sisters have a shared passion for.

"When my sister joined, it just felt like old times when we used to play club together," Reagan said. "It's just been really fun playing with her."

The sisters have different roles on the football field. Reagan plays receiver, defensive back and rusher. Kennedy plays running back and defensive back, while also getting opportunities at quarterback behind senior starter Kelsey Peterson.

So, rather than competing, the two find ways to push each other to be better.

"At practices or games, we've kind of built a system where I give her a little critique, but I also tell her what she's doing good," Reagan said.

Callahan, who has spent the past three years coaching the Titans, is another piece of that system. Since taking over as head coach this season, she has helped lead the team on the field while building a bond with the girls that helps fuel their success.

For the Harter sisters, that bond has made Callahan feel like family.

"Coach Carly has helped grow the sport with us," Reagan said. "Her stepping up as head coach this year, it's just been almost like she's a sister."

And the Harter sisters are just getting started. With Kennedy a freshman and Reagan a junior, the two have another season together on the horizon.

"It's kind of crazy that I get to play with her," Kennedy said. "I used to just watch her and now I get to play with her."
